  1. I am wondering who is Mr. Foo at home meeting today after meeting with me??
  2. Agree totally. When meeting with him, he will give you undivided attention. Kudos to MsChocobanana for being an understanding wife as well. Not only a thought, it's a doable plan. I am planning at least 15 ft for my place.
  3. M. Foo is very accommodating, flexible and down to earth but like all ID and contractors, dont expect instant answers/responses. He will reply but will take time. I would say his quote is pretty similar to most, some may be cheaper and he allow you to source for own source after seeing his offer.
  4. Brought in thru Amcon? How is the feel of it. Am eyeing one as well. Did they offer any free gift like drain basket etc?
  5. Peeka may help you to check but will they warranty the defects when during shipping to Singapore?
  6. Yup agree with you on that all will work out fine when furnishings are in. The color is nice and will slowly grew on the missus. IMO and when furnishings are in, flooring will become more of a "backdrop" and not the the focus any more. Matter of fact, these color can easily bring out the furnishings more.
  7. Dont envy, to me I find it a loss of living space. I rather have the room for other use. Afterall, I dont spend hours in the wardrobe. I was misled by the magazines and shows have a WIW. Been there, done it. Speaking purely from personal point of view only. Yup, made the choice then enjoy it as long as pros and cons are weigh. This, I will have to disagree. Try reasoning this with the missus.
  8. Guys, anyone has experience with ergonomic chairs other than Herman Miller?
  9. Guess approx, 1.5k up for hollow block solid wall for 10ft. This excluding making good the flooring, depending tiles, laminates,HERF or even marble. Also there is the paint work to take note as well. Not forgetting the dust, rubble and the inconvenience of staying at home of looking after your home, after all you are still staying there during the chaos.
  10. It is never too late for there are always new home makers who might be considering this option as well. End of the day, it is a personal preference, weighing out the pros and cons. Some have the luxury of having the place to 2 while some cater for 4. Once you hit 30s, time files, before you know it, your little princes and princess are teenagers already.
  11. Would very much like to though but since moving in from current place, gonna bring along old furnitures then. Indeed there some tasty looking pieces over there. Not on web are display there, better call to check before heading down.
  12. Was loitering around after First appointment. Went down to Comfort Design, nothing really caught my eye over there. Though I must admit there is a pretty handsome collection of chairs to try on. Suddenly remember this seeing this place somewhere. Google the place and head straight there. The place is Posh Home. Not an extremely large showroom but decent enough to display many tasty pieces. Folks into industrial look should check out their working areas, the cupboards and shelf are rustic and fit industrial to the dot. Mark, the friendly owner said these are hand made by themselves. Then the Papa Bear caught my eye. Last and display piece though, standing proudly and shouting for me to rest on it. Tried both the Eames lounge chair and Papa Bear, surprisingly, Papa Bear won me over and the rest is history.http://posh-home.com/index.php/lounge/lounge/ta285-the-teddy-bear-chair.html
  13. I guess you can just inform Alan of this situation, explain to him the unsatisfactory.Request him to hack out the connector, purchase a new tap as replacement. The cost shall be absorb by him and let him deal with his contractors then. For myself, I will not accept a sand off brand new chrome item.
  14. Couldn't resist the temptation, bought the first item for the place.
  15. Base on estimation, the width is approx. 3000, takeaway the depth of a wardrobe 600, and a bed with frame of no more than 2000, left 400 gap to move. Given the HDB layout nowadays, this is one common solution. The TV has to be sacrificed. TV depends on personal life style, some like it, some feel MBR is a place to rest, and rather not have TV in room. Overall cost save in hacking and combine rooms goes into the wardrobe. Be it pole system, off the shelves or carpentry. No TV means no need DVD player, additional box set, no TV set etc. Also this adds on to initial cost. In the long run, no rooms are sacrificed, more living space, easier to let go after MOP. In this case, he can build a L wardrobe, shift the bed near to the window and still have some space opp for a wall mount 40inch perhaps. IMO, wardrobe is more important than TV. Spaces are needed for clothing, beddings etc and you know the Missus..... Most will not duplicate a living room sound system in the MBRthen why the effort and cost to do a half past six one in the MBR. Better lump the cost and have a solid set up in living room.
  16. Nice floor plan. At least you have distinctive areas. You can consider to place the wardrobe along the 4680mm MBR wall. This way, you get at least 12ft of wardrobe.
  17. A fine leap of faith. Am getting items off Taobao as well. In fact, majority of the household items. I feel buying non moving/electrical items from Taobao are still manageable in quality. More of a concern will be damaged shipping, returning, wood grains effect etc.
  18. Yup. Got that lux feel when bounce off lightings. It add texture to the wall. Prior to applying the wallpaper, any preparation required for the wall? How's cost comparison with painting?
  19. Some folks commented the thread is different from local and may need an adapter joint.
  20. Hi Guys, thanks for the input. Despite being an EA, it is only a mere 132m2. Took the place for the location, near parents place, mid high floor and of course, the approval of many "ministers". Study room is planned for 2 working stations, to fit 2 tables and book cabinets, so it must be of substantial size. There is a window, opening to the aircon ledge, so the study area will not so stuffy. Only setback after raising the wall - the area in front of the kitchen entrance will be pretty dark as the only natural light source is from the balcony. No open concept kitchen also due to wanting top & bottom kitchen cabinets, current place is having about 15 feet of top & bottom and already running out of space. Looking at the kitchen, to squeeze in a stove, sink, fridge and oven seems to be a tall order given only 4m length. Not forgetting items like microwave, rice cooker, maybe a coffee machine etc. No point having an open concept kitchen, while displaying so many appliances, making the kitchen look cluttered and messy. One can argue to keep the appliances when not using but alas to keep where when open concept significantly reduces at least 9 feet of top cabinet?
  21. Here goes the floor plan. We have no particular theme in mind but a little more towards Scandinavian and rustic look, Storage is the crucial point for us. We wanted lots of storage, to keep big luggages and household items away from sight. We will do away with the balcony despite the balcony is facing a small park area. Our lifestyles tells us that we are not those who will sit at the balcony and enjoy a cuppa type of folks. If we keep it, likelihood it is gonna become another drying clothes area. Considering rain and dust, balcony will degrade to another cleaning area. Despite open concept kitchen is enticing but we are not gonna do it as well. We wanted a study room, so we will be building up a wall for the study area hence also no open concept kitchen.
  22. Think the only thing worth looking at is the Euphoria rain shower going at $888 (thermostat) and $788 (mixer) before 30% and excluding GST.
