  1. Ok we bought a new toy. After much consideration, promised myself must have determination and perseverance. I must admit, it is a fine juicer. The juice we manage to extract are heavenly. As only pure juice are extracted, fine fibers, pulp are almost non existence. This makes drinking extremely pleasant. Especially for fruits like pineapple and veg like celery. the juice remained but not the pulp. All good does not means it has no shortcoming. Firstly the hefty price tag is a shoo off. In excess of SGD700, some may argue may get 3 juicers at this price. Each to their own. For us is bite the bullet and get the job done with minimal effort. Next is the weight and size. Standing at 448mm when installed makes keeping it a challenge, dismantling it simply takes up more space. Weighing in at 6.4kg makes moving it a chore and may challenging for petite family member. Cleaning is a breeze for all parts except for the plastic/metal strainer. (orange part in the pic) Fine strands of fruit remains often get struck there and require more time and a brush to slowly brush them away. Still it is a good investment (provided it last). Then comes the determination and perseverance to keep juicing at least twice a week. Else it is just another white elephant.
  2. Just to add, time used to heat up is not long, as mentioned, no more than 10 seconds. Sound produce is pretty much like using the gas stove. A low pop is audible when starting and shutting. Gas heaters main advantage is the long term savings over electric heater. Anything that is use to produce heat electrically, are consuming a lot of electricity.
  3. I am coming from a already had a WIW perspective. I find it more cons than pros. Given your layout and the sliding door, there is no point to seal BR2 door and hack another door. This cost quite a fair bit and will pose a challenge if you are selling the house in the future. If you maintain 3 rooms with BR2 converting into a wardrobe room, at least you have the flexibility of more living space. In time when in laws, friends, relatives etc staying over, you can have the space to accommodate as well. Or maybe even for a mahjong space. Further to this, the walk way to the bedrooms will always be dark as you seal out the door in BR2. Lastly, I cant imagine the hassle to walk all the way to the WIW just to get something, especially when in a rush or forgot something. Just my thoughts to share. Happy reno.

  5. For me, working with Mr. Foo is a walk in the park. He is easy going and contribute greatly to what you need and want. He is not a "yes" man, despite you may want this and that but he will give his opinion on your ideas or even simply reject them. He is creative and good in space planning, offers solutions when facing problems. On the other hand, he is like me who dont believe in 3D drawing. If one want to have a 3D look at his ideas, you have to request in the early stage. As one of my early postings, 3D is a waste of time, efforts and money. Some folks like it and can wait 2 months for initial draft, amended and final draft and prolong the overall reno timing. Like all ID/contractor, you have to know what you want, have the slightest idea of what you picture your house. One cannot simply says "you are the ID, so you tell me." With such mentality, I will shunt such folks, let alone Mr. Foo. Mr. Foo's pricing is definitely not the cheapest in the market. However those who employ his services are more often satisfied than unhappy. It really depends on how much and what you want to do. One must be realistic, eg budget 20K to do up a 4 room including floor, MBR wardrobe, kitchen cabinet is simply asking for the moon. One of my favorite from Mr. Foo, is that his carpentry are using internal color PVC as a standard not the usual white. Yes it cost more, however it is eye please and more lasting then the normal white. Normal white will turn yellow, stained or even have some mouldy growth as time passed. Overall, it is your decision and budget to plan. Just remember, when you are choosing, ID/contractors are also choosing at the same time.
  6. Thanks, glad the posting helps. Most of of the light bulbs are actually available in Singapore. Just that some may require some searching. Eg. Not all shops may carry E27 or Edison light bulbs but still they can be found.
  7. No issues of water marks or splashing onto the ceiling. Water falls down like rain. However if the toilet walls are not tiled to the ceiling, one may experience paint peeling issues in the future.
  8. Purely personal opinion = If you are hacking only a portion of the wall to make a door then sealing the adjacent room door. I really feel it is a little redundant. Might as well keep the room but convert it into a wardrobe room. Line both side of the wall with wardrobe, you may even have an island in the middle for small accessories like the showcase. And then add a study table right under the window, it may even fit 2 pax. This way, you keep your rooms intact, with a big wardrobe and also a study corner for net surfing and gaming. One reason is to keep resale value, next is to have a room ready for future usage. Having a spare room for 1/2 kids, parents/friends visiting etc. Having the partition is fine however I feel without it, more light will come in the kitchen. Also there is more free play to plan for the kitchen as well. With the partition, some space are wasted and under utilized Thanks for the compliment, glad my blog helps!
  9. Seems like you are going to hack 1 room and use it as WIW? From the 3D, the layout still look pretty much like 3 rooms, so really need hacking? Service yard window and door removed but why not the wall as well? Full length table top looks more roomy and spacious.
  10. Water pressure is subjective. We are using a gas heater, so far the pressure is good. The rain shower head is 8 inch OD, now feel kinda small. Perhaps a 12 inch may be better. However water pressure may be a concern. As earlier post, the reach of conventional rainshower is too short for my liking, hence the such arrangement. Of course the run of piping may be pretty unsightly but this is something definitely I can live with. Now with the rain shower almost centralized and falling from a height, this is what we really call a Rain Shower.
  11. A little insight on the Grohe shower set. Been using it for months now, no complaints whatsoever. Perhaps to nit pick is that like all glossy shine finish, the mixer loses the "gleam" and needs to be cleaned to shine again. My unit was blessed with reasonable water pressure, the hand and rain shower works like a charm. Particularly like the attached soap dish, solve the issue of needing a shelf and easy access. The hand shower is decent, with proper water pressure, the spray is even and cover a pretty big area.
  12. New Knife Holder Bought it from Amazon when it was on sale. Couldnt resist the bright red. Of course, with free shipping.
  13. Great! Not an easy place to find though. The LED down lights are pretty ok I would say.
  14. I got the bulbs from this shop in Jurong East. In a secluded part of the neighborhood. Prices are pretty decent but not a huge selection of lighting, however the LED down lights design and prices suit my needs. Also a wide selection of light bulbs, T5 , LEDs are available. Zenterra International
  15. Wow!! You sure go way back to get the things you wanted. Great spirit!
  16. Will you consider to fully craft brick the wall and get a wall hung mirror instead??
  17. As mentioned earlier, there is no link. Instead you have chat with the seller and ask them about it. This is how I bought the facuet, taps, bidets and rain shower head. Seller: http://shop66081815.taobao.com/index.htm?spm=2013.1.w5002-819733552.2.fr07Ne
  18. MBR Washroom, just to wrap things up, the shower area. The MBR washroom is really indeed much bigger. A bathtub can fit in easily without a bat of the eyelid. However the risk of turning it into a soaking clothes area is high, better be save than sorry. Also everyone is going green nowadays, so using less water is the "in" thing. Oh, by the way I am talking about the Missus. I can easily fill the tub with 1/3 full of water. For her, is.......
  19. There are house rule as follow: 1. The woman is always right. 2. When in doubt, refer to rule one.
  20. MBR Washroom Light This is the one and only light that is crystal light in the whole house. And not surprisingly, it belong to the Missus. I was telling her, wait till the day you need to clean it.
  21. Fridge wise, I prefer it big. With the price tag of 1.1k, you can easily get a 500L up fridge. Never underestimate the usage of fridge, when you stay on, items needed will slowly start feeling up the space. Also when catering the space for the fridge in the kitchen, ensure the carpentry allows more space for a fridge upsize in the future. Dont get caught in the situation where you can only buy back a similar size fridge.
  22. I did not do the summing up, didnt want to and can bear to. Figures definitely in excess of 50K as I have numerous items which I settle on my own and not in the quotation.
  23. MBR is always close, no windows open hence to avoid any "fragrance" and moisture escaping into the room, better to use the common one. Anyway, the common one is just outside the MBR, so dont make much of a difference. Yes the seller is patience and has lots of things to offer but only after you chat with her. If you are keen and on M1, you can call her direct and chat on Ali WW at the same time. As mention, she said they are manufacturer hence unable to post all product on site for sale. kinda conflict of interest.
  24. MBR Washroom There was some discussion earlier about which washroom to use for a 2 pax family. I would say this mainly depends on your lifestyle and preferences. MBR washroom is bigger in most units, so some may prefer to use it, some may simply uses both. Coming from a cleaning and maintenance perspective, we choose to use only the common washroom, unless of course, when there is an emergency. Main reason, rather then spending time cleaning, we prefer top use the time doing other things. Also if the washroom is constantly wet, unsightly slime and filth will grow, especially around any white silicone area and such stains are impossible to remove. Then and again, this does not mean the MBR washroom is never used at all. Given that MBR has limited area and no space for a dressing table, the MBR washroom was kind of converted to a dressing area. This is the area where the missus does all the powdering and hair drying etc where any "aftermath" are contained. Given the limited area in MBR, there is no dressing table for the missus, hence we kind of converted the MBR washroom as a dressing area. That is where does all the make up, hair drying etc where all the "mess" is contained and maintained.
  25. I spoke to the seller before, they said they are doing wholesale so they cant really list all their items on their site. Seller had sent me emails of the range of items they have, it is much much more than listed on their home page. From all taps, shower mixer, toilet accessories etc, ig interested, you can chat directly with seller. My taps, bidets, kitchen faucet and shower head are all from them. The products feel sturdy and solid, No complaints from plumber when install as well. I can only vouch for what I had bought, as for others I am unable to comment. So far been using them and happy with the purchase.
