  1. Hi, After some shopping around...some picture on stuff that catches my eyes and waiting to burn my pocket. New Denon AVR4308, price not known yet should be about $2.9k The Epson Full HD Projector about $4 to 5k without screen...fixed screen about $1400, cable and install $650 The Cellini Sofa..bought the 2 seater..in full leather for $1160..mine will be black base not wood as shown in pic The arm chair...bought 2 pieces black full leather ...total woth the sofa at$2020..quite a good buy for me...pretty comfortable and just slightly loose out to those $3k 2 seaters The Samsung fridge..I love big fridge though wont be filling it up fully about $2k i think The toshiba washer dryer about $1,7k i think The type of doors I like...plain and to add stainstell strips 1 vertical or 2 horizontal...going to forego veneer door and go for laminate door but must with either wood or ABS trimming to protect the edges OR Also can be off white.. Found quite a few pretty nice lightings..will post later..also the laminate and tiles I shortlisted. Cheers
  2. Very nicely done up...hmm just on the glass area for home entertainment....I am not sure whether you have got existing or going to buy new system but glass is a very reflective material and will have lots of resonance, so do take note on the system you are getting. you will not able to compensate for room acoustic with that amount of glass cheers
  3. Bronchithis is quite common, but must be careful at the next level will be pneumonia....its actually good to vomit out he phelgm which contains all the virus and stuff, but must keep hydrated. Will get more resitant to that once the kid grows up and stronger. Cheers
  4. Hi There, Anyone has projector for their home? Old comtemplating a projector...can get FULL HD 1080p and with cinematic digital image quality with up to 100" (watch F1, EPL and Movies...will be fantastic huh) at 3m distance size cheaper than LCD Full HD TV like Samsung, Sharp and Sony. Eyeing on the Epson new EMP-TW1000 a 3LCD Full HD projector. Also can save on the feature wall that use to mount the LCD TV. The only issue is that when you watch TV also must on your HiFi...and also cabling need some thoughts. By the way the epson projector is about $5700 also need to get screen so overall still cheaper than say a 46" Full HD LCD + feature wall....quite tempting Any comments
  5. Wow...all you guys and gals are so young and already have your theory on how to management your partners, marriages, etc....pretty surprise. Guess old man here should not have post any comments. One last word though....practical application of theory is key and not one size fits all. Good luck and all the best to all young happily married couples and to those not so happy at the moment...ride the storm for a clear blue sky....since you have made the choice, give it your best shot. Cheers
  6. Right, that is what I like. my friend ID Company, the project manager told me there will be a new homogeneous tile, stain free white, confirmed no stain. I was so happy to hear that, but will have to see it personally sometime next week, when go tile shopping. To go along that, would like to have white/slightly off white with lines laminates for my cabinets in the hall and for kitchen most likely black gloss cabinets with white/off white solid top, black sofa, the squarish design, black speakers, and for the feature wall...still thinking and the wall behind the feature wall in tend to have dark red...towards maroon type of color, so unlike many that say 5 colors of paint is nor enough, for me, its more than enough as most are white, except for a piece of wall in hall and bedroom and of course my daughter's bedroom will be colored instead of white. Kind of look okk when i visualize it hopefully the actual will turn out ok as well. Cheers Oops....miss out one question. Anyone staying in or know anyone staying in AMK blk 540...just wanted to check is there citygas or pub gass pipes or need to have gas cylinders. If got citygas or pub gas pipes then can do suspended kitchen cabinets, else if gas cylinder then suspended not so practical. Anyone using gas cylinders and having suspended kitchen cabinets? if so how do you store and hide the gas cylinders so that it is not visible....can the suspended cabinets take the weight of the gas cylinder. Cheers
  7. Hi Anyone know is there veneer door without wood grains pattern and light color (e.g. off white or white) and with stainless steel strips? i.e. plain no moulding doors...gloss finish is even better All those veneer doors I saw are all beech or walnut wood grain design, laminate for doors i afriad will peel off due to usage...but I like off white or white doors with simple stainless steel strips (vertical or horizontal). So anyone seen and where? if possible price range Cheers
  8. Please dont say that....high expectation will have greater disappointment, anyway will not be spending that much will be around $45k +/- $3k i guess. Rather spend more on my HiFi...hahaha Hmm actually there wont be much of a special design as I have seen in many of the forumers house, I prefer clean lines and simple, so either white, off white or black in most cases except for things that is not practical or not feasible...then perhaps have to compromise...anyway will have to wait and see. Cheers
  9. Completed the 1st appt yesterday. The owner is very accomodating, the 2nd appt date is on 12th Sept and the owner immediately say its good as it just pass the luner 7th month. I drove him back as I wanted to check the location of the ceiling beams as the floor plan only show columns and also to take note of the piping location, so that i can have more definite location for some installations of basins, etc. Overall a pretty smooth proceedings and hopefully on the 12th Sept evening I can get the keys from the lawyers. So the Sat after national Day go tile shopping before I fly off, hmm will be a headache day i guess. Cheers
  10. Hmm I am currently sourcing for Di for my 3rm reno....really depends on what you want to do. If change all floorings, hacking, rewiring and carpentry like kitchen, wardobe, console ....with your floor area....40k dont looks promising....if got ID quote you that or lower you also have to be careful. Enjoy...its tiring really. I dont know about you , I am all alone in the process, so mentally and physically tired. Cheers
  11. Talking about work, money and time for yourself and to spend the money. I guess it depends on the size and org structure and pay policy and what standard they adopt, like the Hay's standard, etc. I worked for an Investment back before....BxxxxxCxxxxxx pay very well, but no time to spend....personally take a pay cut of about 40% and landed in current job...still pay 100k+ per year...but got more time for myself and now my only daughter, but recently....needs to travel quite a bit. When you are young and striving to build up your financial, buy house, get girlfriend, then wife, etc, etc you will focus on money.....as you age more, you look for work life balance and when you are old you look for job security....just a different phase of life and needs. Sorry I am not saying to have gf and wife means needs alot of money or imply the woman go for money, just that nothing is free...want to hold hand must spend some money...like good dinner, movies, transport, gifts sometimes, etc etc.... But hey money is not everything, but you need money to have something. Cheers
  12. Went to have chat with my friend ID company with the person assigned to me. A very patient and helpful guy. Showed me a few perspective (hand drawn) drawing...done by another draftin person as the one suppose to do she is on MC...chicken pox.... Anyway, had quite a detail discussion and most like go to him for reno...will start recci for tiles after national day that week. as I will be traveling again on the 20th and once get back a couple of weeks to 2nd appt and if all goes well handover of unit in first half of sept then can start permit application. After the discussion will have a fiew item remove..my own idea and also touch on the laminate edges for light color laminates and he will do ABS trimming for my carpentry (not kitchen but other cabinets) to eliminate the black join lines. Will be giving me all the catalogs of all the items included in the work, eg hod & hood, toilet accessories, doors, and also he mentioned that he will get samples (actual size not small sample) from the tile supplier for selection and yes willbe using LG Top. Also that week will have new set of drawings...with amendments from today;s drawing..too bad no soft copy. I went to Molecule at Great World City....the things there quite ex but design very good and steal ideas...I saw a few TV console idea not bad will try to figure out my own version. also the clocks...fantastic and the metal artpieices...i love them but price range from 1800 to 2500 pretty ex, I currently have one....about 800 not from molecule though can;t recall where i bought it (10 yrs ago) after the 1st will try to go to arrange with owner to go to the unit to take note on the location of ceiling beams (as floor plan only show columns) and also the pipings locations Hmm so much for now. Just a general question, post 1st appt what will be the likihood that the transaction will not go thru? besides owner back out. Just curious, will there be a confirmation from HDB before 2nd appt and how long after 1st appt to receive that confirmation....any kind soul to advice
  13. 31st July....going to register for my girl primary school and also fixed up appt to see drawing by my friend's ID company. Just to mentioned, the person assigned to me by my friend mentioned that the quote provided includes supplying of sink, toilet bowls, basin, hob & hood, bath room accessories.....so the price of about $45k +/- is actually not that bad especially when compared to a few others I have got. But guess for things like taps and shower set will need to top up or get my own, I prefer the Grohe stuff. He also mentioned that the drawings will be free even if ultimately I don;t engage their work, hopefully can get soft copy. And yes 1st HDB appt on 2nd Aug....then flying off to US on 20th Aug...come back just nice a couple of weeks later for the 2nd HDB appt and by then I should be signing up a ID and start renovation submission and work right after handover. Hope everything go smooth. Cheers
  14. hi Cornetto, Until now you still having such issues and feelings......already reno, taken pictures, etc etc Hmm not good leh....better work something out with yr hb. From what you mentioned, he is not ready to settle down and face the reality of marriage life that includes bitter stuff, added responsibilities among other and still in the singlehood mindset but with own roof and a pretty gal waiting at home. Should have sorted that out earlier but then again we can only look forward and work hard and resolve problems. Since you have made the choice, don;t give up just yet. Its never a one party issue. All the best.
  15. Wah good leh, buy F1 ticket 4 day pass and can go to the pit for photo taking on the free practice day, x 2 days and qualifying...think actual day you will be too busy....go check it out not everyone has this chance....maybe some start driver see you in wedding attire will give special pose....imagine a group of F1 drivers take photo with you.....priceless of course race day ticket can sell lah cheers
  16. Hmm, don't mean to be negative again, people don;t just change because of a chat or a talk....even if so it takes time, usually quite a long time and need constant reminder too. People really change when dramatic event happens that impact them in one way or another...thta's the fastest way to change....we human like to learn from the hard way....in schools, in work, in almost anything we do. Hmm though there are the few exception at both end of the spectrum, but we make most if not all of our decision and judgement based on the general area of the spectrum...you don;t start planning for your future based on striking toto, though there are always time you hear people strike toto...the same goes for most things. Lastly...if the person is what you like or love you have to love the person as he/she is that's the best assumption....or even better if the person gets worst on his/her bad habits can u still love him/her.....do not think that you can change the person....dont over estimate yourself and marriage is defnitely not for that purpose.....in the end you will get hurt. Its complicated....been there and experienced it before....not to discourage but just to highlight....relationship is not all about love, it needs to be managed with trust, responsibilities based on one;s core values. Marriage by itself do not do wonders...just remember that and certainly not meant to change anyone. Cheers
  17. hot from the news....F1 for Singapore...in Sept, so for those who are planning your wedding party/dinner....Oct onwards cheers

  19. One point to note that you guys may have missed out due to the lengthy list, is that There is no wardrobe for MBR that most people do, if include....even more ex. Still need to spend close to $40 to $45k on purchases, everything from the usual appliances, aircon, lightings, furniture and of course the most ex is my sound system and speakers upgrade. So trying to strike a balance. For the LG top...hmm a cheaper quote for all the same thing that uses LG Top is about $45k and willing to do drawing for some carpentry working with no obligation...will get to see them next week. I believe company like Home Guide do have great design and most definitely built in cost to the quote, but for my case 80% of the design is from myself, so don't really need full ID services, but still need some professional opinions Thanks for all your input. Cheers
  20. Hmm, but a little apprehensive on how much can bring about 10-12k in quality...Earnest quote is around $45 to $48 (though not finalized) and Earnest suppose to be a reputable ID with good quality...so kind of puzzle, I was having a range of +/- 3 to 5 k, on materials, workmanship, blar blar, but not 10 to 20 k diff, I suppose if the ID firm do not have their own fabrication faciilty and sub out alot of their work and of course agreement between ID and subcon...makes a big deal By the way have anyone heard of LG solid surface....LG as in the LG for aircon, fridge, etc. They do have solid surface I saw they website, just wonder what kind of range are they in. Cheers
  21. Hi Lifestyle, the one you looked at is from BE concept...havent spoken to anyone just send in for quote, so not much detail, see the price ....... Take a look at the second one, more ex...from Home Guide Cheers

  25. Hi VinLee, I own a IWC Portugese Automatic movement is 51010, as shown in my Avartar. Its movement is modelled off the Flagship IWC Big Pilot (movement is 51110), mine comes with 7 days power reserve as well. Actually wanted the Big Pilot but really too big for me, its abt 47mm. Now saving for a JLC Grand Reverso...but that will be after house reno and car, so maybe a couple of years later. Also have a Breitling Chrono Cockpit Cheers
