  1. Nice write up! Not for the faint hearted though. haha Anyway what you have suggested is for painted solid doors and not veneer doors am i correct? But appreciate it. I bet other forummers will benefit from it, those that plan to get their hands dirty.
  2. Hi Rb, great write up there. Would like to enquire, how do you strip off the paint on the doors? Is it possible for veneer doors? I'm asking this because my recently purchased condo has doors and frame in mahogany / rosewood colour when the look i'm after is more scandinavian, more beech / birch wood color. Would appreciate if you can do a short write up. My id quoted 200 for each door just to change the colour and of course its out of budget.
  3. Love what you've done to your place!! Very ikea-ish!! Can see that you have already made preparations for little ones with your kiddy sink! Love the whole pine wood on white look you have for the whole house. No fish tank for the new place? If you're the same namesake over at AQ. haha
  4. Haha, i was still scrolling down for pictures after so many words and the first pic is a big a$$ wardrobe. Nice!
  5. Bro show us the rest of your beautiful home!
  6. Do you find that the finish of Scanteak products quite rough to the touch? Just wondering do you know any DIY methods to make it smooth to the touch
  7. Hi there! which groove bench are you referring to? Is it the one which has 3 butt prints on it? If that's so how did you get it at $300 har?

    Magis

Thanks for the reply and guess that's about right. Googled and read from a past newspaper article that they are the exclusive distributor for Magis products so i guess can only get from XTRA
  9. Hi, i'm in the same situation as you! Being first time home owner, can't stop being excited and anxious for the new place to be completed. When i passed the cheque, stated TOP was end of 2010. But recently i went to the site and met with the main contractor and he said most probably the place will be done up in October!!! Earlier this year, around march i too was obsessed with finding the right ID / contractor and with the same issue that i don't have a detailed floor plan so i scrap the thought. I just read the Tblogs in this forum and note down those that are nice in my opinion and also their id or contractor. In may, i think i've borrowed almost all issues of home and decor from 2008 to the most recent and took pics of those that i think will fit into the design i have in mind after all the reading. When i knew that TOP might be in October, i went to a couple of the ID i've shortlisted and they said the draft floorplan is enough for them to come up with design and a quote. Also went furniture hunting from places listed in the forum. Guess right now is too early for you to find your id/ contractor. Go through the forum n mags to ascertain what theme you are interested in and the color. Take note and bookmark the blogs that you like and the id's contact. But if you don't have a specific design and only want minimal renovation, and really just wants someone to coordinate the works for you, there are 2 resident forummers in the tblog that you can take reference from. Go through the tblog and see if you're comfortable with how they do things. Good luck! i know i'm having fun trying to put my ideas into reality!!
  10. My wish will be for a peaceful and happy family. If can boost side fortune will be a bonus!! haha

    Magis

Saw the magis steelwood chair at XTRA park mall the other day and quite like it. Just wondering if there's other shops selling magis range other than XTRA?
  12. I have a run in with them a few years back when i was hunting for queen size mattress. Ackerman was highly recommended in singaporebrides forum then. In short, we had them honour the contract they had with us (what's written on invoice). What i've learned from this experience is that Simmons price is generally strictly controlled such that the price is more or less there. This applies to official models that Simmons singapore brought in. Such models are found in the simmons shop in furniture mall in beach road and the major shopping centres. Mattress found in these places are controlled by local authorised dealer. All problems arise when one chose models which the company imported themselves, arlington or charleston which was the one that gave me trouble. Aim of my post is, shop at the official places, take note of the price, and if ackerman can give better price or can throw in more freebies, then its up to you to decide if you want to take the risk. I personally find that their bed frame is not bad. Mattress that i've bought is beautyrest glendale. 3 years already we still love it. Wife always said that before buying this mattress she never miss home while overseas, but now she miss her bed whenever we are overseas. Simmons is a good brand. Just beware of who is selling them. Cheers!
  13. Hi, kdk standing fan from GAB as well? Mind sharing the price?
  14. Hi, did you get any flickering shadows with your kdk fan so near to your cove lights? Is there a magical distance that the fan has to be away from the lights? Can't wait to see the whole house furnished!
  15. Nice dining table!! Am i seeing 2 pieces of solid wood for the top? Did you source for the wood or any of the materials on your own? If you can add the dimensions of the wood that would be best Haha... lots of questions hope you don't mind.

    Fabric L Sofa

Thanks fellow forummers, aim to visit the following: 1. Dian sanctuary (custom) 2. evov 3. lorenzo (didn't know that they have a fabric sofa shop at enterprise one. so near my place) 4. Lifestorey 5. Inch Just went to persada jb for the furniture exhibition, almost all are leather. And only designs from rustica caught our eyes. One particular full leather one which is super comfy cost RM53++. Big and long at 3.15M. Interested peeps can go check it out over the weekend.
  17. hey thanks. aiming for the shops around johor jaya as they say might be cheaper than taman pelangi / sentosa area. So RM560 for the sensa 5? good to have a price in mind so that wont b carrot chopped by them seeing that we're singaporeans. haha
  18. can't we just ask distributors for KDK fans in singapore who are their installers and have them install the fan? btw, fifteenmay may i know where in JB did you get the fans from? Thinking of getting from there too. And there's a furniture exhibition at persada johor this weekend if you're interested
  19. Are you quix from AQ / AF? What monster fishes planned for the 2 big tanks? Very nice place u got there. Will be getting some pointers from your master bedroom design. Love it!

    Fabric L Sofa

yea, my feelings too. Thats why i like the one over at Lush but its over our budget and the lady says it most probably wont fit into most elevators or even staircases because it comes in one piece which is around 2.9m in length. Its super comfy (imho) with its huge cushions as backing and the firmness is just right for us.

    Fabric L Sofa

Leather and fabric both has their pros and cons. Will need maintenance nonetheless. And fabric is warm? It doesn't feel so when i was at my friend's place for movie marathon. Customisation means that i won't know how it feels like? But will check out DIAN and maybe sofa+others. Thanks for recommendation. Guess leather is better at repelling water but nothing can withstand sharp objects.
  22. I've just started hunting for my ideal L-shape fabric sofa with a budget of 2k to maybe 3k. Been to furniture mall at beach road but most of the sofas are leather so didn't spend much time there. The few pieces of fabric sofas' design were not to our fancy. After which we went to some of the usual suspects in the upper paya lebar area but the only one which most caught our hearts was one from 'Lounge innovation' australian brand brought in by one of the furniture shops but it cost 4k+ and due to its design cant fit into elevators! Love the shape and feel of the sofa though its over our budget. So would like to ask if there are other places that offers quality fabric sofas hopefully at a lower price? or other places worth a visit with a variety of fabric sofas?
  23. That would add some significant cost and weight to the design isn't it? I haven't really gotten down to check the prices but if 180x75 wood from suppliers is comparable then can use the legs from ikea. That would solve the problem.
  24. great info there! thanks much but don't you guys think that 62cm width is a tad too narrow for a dining table? eyeing the STENSTORP kitchen island as a dining table. But not sure if the stainless steel plate that covers one side of the legs is removable.
  25. Hi third rock, i wonder how did it go for your dining table? What really attracts me is the matt silver legs with solid oak top. Looking forward to your update.
