  1. The Eames replica chair is not big because of the legs but perfect for using as dining chairs. However if using for work desks, maybe not as the back is not firm enough for support. There's one Eames chair on display at picket & rail's kuka premium showroom at IMM though. I remember that Eames chair feeling solid when I tried lifting up but the ones from TB is different. I could be mistaken about the weight though as it was a brief feel of the chair at IMM.
  2. Hello, your place looks cool and matches the industrial look well. I visited the link you provided for the red knobs but I am confused because I do not see any individual red knob hardware for sale?
  3. Hello Greglhc, About the window grass, this is also good for outdoors? Could I also have the TB link for the teal rug?
  4. Your place is looking grand and classic. Send my regards to Newnyew as well, hope she still remembers me and the cheesecake recipe I learnt from her. Haven't see her in RT much nowadays since a few years ago. We've been all busy with our lives since our last renovation . Glad to see she's putting her artistic talent to greater heights! =)
  5. The price for digital lock will vary for the model type. For eg, samsung' s digital lock without handle comes in 2 version. Deadbolt and Rim lock. Basically deadbolt is more expensive than rim lock. And not to mention, I read before on samsung's authorized distributor FB that other non authorized distributors/sellers are selling mostly parallel imported sets that is not catered to the local market hence the warranty will not be covered by the local authorized distributors/sellers. So do check whether the set you are getting is strictly meant for local market if you wish to have support service or claim warranty.
  6. Interesting. I do not own any landed property so this is based on what I heard from several friends living in landed property overseas. Their homes need water heater with pump and it is sometimes a matter of luck for them if water pressure is good enough not to warrant a pump as water heaters with pumps are more expensive than without pumps. For electricity, they have 3 phase to handle electrical parts and I was surprised to know that in event of electrical trip, one part of the house will be without electricity and the other parts of the house will have electricity so there is no need to manually shut down one of the switches to isolate one area or ensure the other part will have power. Too bad HDB flats does not have this though.
  7. I've been wondering about instant water heaters for landed property. I know you have written about water heater in a post before but what I am wondering is whether landed property require water heaters with pump. I know HDB flats do not need pump for water heater because of the huge water tank on the roof. Not sure if it is feasible but you could separate electrical phases, eg one part for upstairs and one part for downstairs so that when power goes off, it only affects one part and the other part will still have power running. But this may or not require 2 ELCB, one for upstairs and one for downstairs?
  8. I go and check the ORP for the Kangen water then. But it kind of works in a sense? For eg, I'm told that the Kangen water has alot of health benefits and there are many testimonials from patients etc. Normally, I am inclined to take such spiels with a pinch of salt. However, it kind of worked for my pet puppy who is now 7-8 months old. I adopted her when she was 2-3months old and she is a mix mongrel breed. She had distemper when she was small. At that time, my parents had 2 adult mongrel dogs and both dogs died 1-2months after catching this virus from my pet puppy. Strangely, she survived instead and after clearing distemper, she suddenly had ringworm that developed on a couple areas on her back. The ringworms were quite big and had to take her to the vet. She was given a injection for her swelling eyelids as a result of the ringworm and no medication for ringworm because the vet allowed us to try using Kangen water on her externally besides giving her drinking filtered water. It took 1-2 days for the ringworm wounds to stop bleeding after spraying 3 times a day, then a week for the ringworm to show sign of getting smaller after daily spraying. It took a while for the fur to grow back in the affected areas after that. This is what I remember.
  9. Speaking of water filters and testing the acidic/alkaline levels, I'm using this water filter called Kangen Water and it dispenses alkaline water up to pH9.5. During the demo, what they do is to test the acidic/alkaline levels of various bottled water vs the filtered water using food colorant or something I think because the reaction is based on the type of pH level in the water. One of the fact that this water filter is mostly used in Japanese hospitals and authorized by japanese doctors there, other than the manufacturing origins is why I was sold on the water filter. Another factor is, there is no hard sell, no obligations to purchase on the spot.
  10. Thank you Tiler Seng. Just to ask what is the cost to remove existing 13ft bottom kitchen cabinets, solid surface top and do a 13 ft concrete countertop with cabinet doors instead?
  11. Yes, that is right, my hubby also agreed with me on that part - he doesn't like the look too. And on my part, I wanted a countertop with end legs since it is a straight line shape. It's also easier to plan the layout of doors, drawers allocation this way. Why did your wife want so many supports for the countertop?
  12. Hello Kstoh, Yes, that is the one I asked about. Thank you for posting a close up shot of your countertop. Actually, the joints for a tiled concrete countertop was driving me nuts because well, the tiling works on my own countertop is barely acceptable. And it looked a little better because of the rounding done to the edge of the tiles. Usually concrete countertops before tiling, always look smooth and flat after being cured and in few cases, some people will request for leg partition to space the area. Mostly, the countertops are supported only with end legs without any middle support. This was one of my pet peeves when I saw the kitchen countertop up before tiling that is. My kitchen countertop ended up with not one extra support, but 2 extra supports when I did not ask for them. I was later told, this was the sub contractor's style of building a concrete countertop and to add more support. So I was sulking about it to the hubby afterwards as the tiling on the 2 supports didn't gel with me.
  13. Your house looks good! Mind if you can take a closer shot at the black tiles joining edge for the kitchen countertop and if the underside of your countertop is also tiled?
  14. I am wondering since tiling is done for concrete top, sides and base .. is tiling also done underneath the concrete top? I am referring to the underside of the concrete top which you will see when you open the cabinet doors and look upward.
  15. This one is very hard to get - I know this from experience because my previous living ceiling light has 3 arches, 1 arch has at least 6-8 such pin bulbs. Because I got my ceiling light from lightcraft, so I got a few pin bulb from lightcraft subject to availability. I think I saw a similar one in home fix JP and one other hardware shop in JP but not sure if the same size though. You might want to call first though.
  16. Hello there, Can you pm me the price of the extendable dining table from Novambili and the model name of the table as well? Thank you!
  17. My 2 cents worth. Magnetic strip types generally tend to peel off after a few years because have to pull the screen up and down. This happened for my parents' home, whole house have mosquito/insect screens with magnetic strips. I do not know how long have they had the screens but I think it has been quite a long while judging from the look of the screens. If it's 1 section window with 2-3 window panels then, it will be one big screen fit to the window frame and you will have to peel back the screen and close the screen back whenever opening/closing windows. It is quite a hassle mostly and after a while, the whole screen comes down on you because the magnetic strips no longer hold in place due to frequent peeling back/closing the screen. Have seen that there are sellers in malaysia selling sliding insect frames and folding insect screens with tracks or no tracks only so no idea whether singapore sells these as well. You may want to consider the alternatives as well.
  18. Nice rug, greg but it seems you may need to invest in a good vacuum cleaner that can clean this type of rug. Had a similar rug but cleaning up is a real pain because of the texture. In the end I got a flat textured cowhide rug from franc franc as this type would be easier to clean
  19. Aw.. looks similar to a pomeranian. If it gets bigger and more cuddly, you can do the BOO's look someday. =D
  20. So cute the puppy! It's a pomeranian right? Can recreate BOO's look (Yes that internet dog star which looks like a cuddly teddy bear the more I look at it) Oh ya, teach it some tricks too. =D
  21. Just to ask, what do you intend to do with the vintage sofa? If you want to upholster the sofa or rather change the cushions and cover, I know of just a place that does tailoring, and even making rattan furniture. Price wise, i am not sure now as it has been many years now but location is in JB. If the location have not changed, it will be near the customs.
  22. About that, I believe DHL will call you before they are ready to deliver the item based on previous experience. In fact, there is a tracking number provided to you by the seller and you can track that consignment online. If it reaches sg, you may either want to wait for DHL to contact you or you call DHL to arrange the time of delivery. Either way, it's not much a difference on who calls, you or DHL right?
