  1. IC, not sure. I bought my paints from Nippon's warehouse sales in Jan actually. I think you should look out for promos being advertised. Nippon & ICI will have promos and sometimes the warehouse sales advert in newspapers.
  2. wow 20k for just what you're doing. Can see that the toilets & kitchen are more ex since those are wet areas & require waterproofing if hack the tiles and lay new tiles le, not to mention the kitchen cabinets + counter top also. As for the recipe, I will pm you my email add later. Thanks for the recommendation! Good for you that you got your wish for the mossaic. Those might be stressful for you at some point but who hasn't experience such stressful times during renovation? At least yours is ironed out finally.
  3. so long never see apple post. She must be still upset over peggy.
  4. Your side table looks really nice. Cos we delay delay painting the doors when its already 80% completed, partly cos we've been busy and come home tired after work. And partly cos the paint used for doors is glossy paint, not the normal kind of paint used for walls. Glossy paint is oil based so can't wash off well with water leh. So its terribly sticky painting the doors
  5. Hey neighbour, finally got to go your place. keke but no chance to look into your rooms also cos of summer. Poor ginger, she don't like being taken advantage of. Naughty summer.
  6. Im not sure ah, its the one hosted by Kym Ng and Chen Hanwei i think, not too sure but I did see the time at 10:30am on ch8. You can check it out. For the cost of the decals, I paid about 400 for it which is for a partial wall pict than the full wall picture. Those decals will last for 5 years if properly maintained so it is worth it since its for 5 years + it is less messy removing the decals compared to wallpaper that is. Got to agree her home is so nice. I didn't get to go into the rooms cos summer kept running after ginger. Poor ginger kena taken advantage of.. summer being a hot male dog. but like greycat mentioned, LLhome is a chio bu~~~
  7. Thanks, I did refrigerate my icing but it still come out gooey. sad have to try harder then. Kekek I baked the cake finally for my hubby. It turned out fine except the crust is a little dry. Maybe the temp is a little high for the crust.. How was the cupcake class?
  8. I chose the Devils food cake recipe. Left out the filling as didn't want to do a 3 layered cake since I only have a portable & medium sized microwave oven with convectional function. Ended up doing choc icing(ganache I think) & scattered choc flakes over the ganache on top. Wow, very big rush for you. Your ID very unprofessional wor. How much is your quotation from your ID???
  9. Yup Yup, you can check out mediacorp webby for ch8 listings slated for tomorrow ba. Had a long day today. Hehehe went to play with LLhome's dog, ginger finally. Soo cute
  10. Skywolf, there's a program showcasing winkplay designs on ch8 tomorrow night at 10.30 leh.
  11. Can understand why you're particular about the kitchen. Your food blog is enough for me to over the tempting treats. Btw,I finally baked my 1st real cake with success despite this being my 3rd or 4th attempt to bake a cake. Can understand your anxiety over your reno. But surely your ID should have given you the drawing first? Should put down your foot and talk to your ID about the drawing. What if he claims the design done is as in accordance otherwise then how? Remember you're paying the ID to do the work so you should have a say for this
  12. I see! Then you can skip the ceiling part since it is already white to begin with. If its dirty or what, just clean up or touch up the ceiling with white paint only. Only the walls will be needed to paint though so you're having an easier time considering ceiling is not easy to paint with your neck constantly angled upwards all the time.
  13. Yes it is possible though. I saved at least 1 k by doing my own DIY-ing, just bought the paints, brushes and ta da
  14. Hey shix2_82 Thanks for the kind compliments, the background is not pink, actually a crimson red. But as I adjusted the colour brightness & lighting settings in my phone, it looks like this. So far, its a better & clearer pic of the decals. Try winkplay? I got my wall decals from winkplay. www.winkplay.com
  15. Congrats on your moving in! Hehehe can I see more more pix of your house after your things fully in as in with furniture besides the ones of your electrical appliances?
  16. I see. You having false ceiling for whole place except kitchen or what? Btw, no need to paint ceiling first if you prefer a white ceiling & since the electrical works are up, I assume the lights are up already. So left is your walls to paint only, correct?
  17. The price now for both Nippon & ICI is roughly around 30-60 bucks depending on which category they classify their paints under for 5 L though. You should go down to the paintshop to have a clearer look but should be cheaper overall. Prob would set you back by 200-300+ for the paints? BTW, paint the ceiling first since it is the most important thing to do before fixing the lights. It should never be done after you've finished painting the walls. Happy DIYing
  18. Kekeke but its just a nick after all. no worries about that too Yeah the weather is a absolut killer. I wonder how the locals there can tahan? My back was all matted with sweat plus my t-shirt sticking to my back too. OMG. I never realised it is so big that market, can easily get lost in it.
  19. Like Keltong say, the paint used for doors & gate is different. Those type of paints are the glossy paints & belongs to the oil based type. Those paints for walls, ceiling are water based so they're easier to wash off than the oil based ones. You need to wear gloves for painting the gates/doors if you don't want to end up having very sticky hands or have paint dripping onto your hands. Else, you will need to scrub harder when you wash up.
  20. No prob. How much did your ID quote you for paintworks btw? Oh ya, if you manage to paint the walls before the skirting is up.. Then you can leave the bottom part of the wall bare where the skirting is supposed to be at since who will be seeing the paint behind the skirting part??? Only above the skirting then people will see the paintworks from there to the top.
  21. Is also okay too. =) Grey is not that bad, just adds a little bit of ethnic touch to a chili red kitchen.
  22. Ya but then laminates are also not so cheap though cheaper than laying tiles. Scared that they'd warp next time round if not careful, so that makes us both really looking at high maintenece flooring. =x
  23. My 2 cents worth here. Having done house painting for my place, it is no joke man given my floor area as its an exec flat. For yours, it should be more manageable since its a 4 room flat though. Cost wise, it is very money saving since you only need to buy paints & save on the labour charges to paint since you are the one painting, not others doing the painting for you. BUT.. the thing is do you have the time and patience to do the painting? My house painting take some time to do as even after I have moved in already as I only did the major parts of the house like the living, dining, study room, MBR first 'cos of the furniture & lighting fixtures. This will give you an idea of how far are you going to be prepared just to do house painting alone. Also, painting requires some skills to be done esp with touch ups. That is why there are professional painters in the market. All the best in your house reno!
  24. Oh, didn't know that. Sounds high maintenence also. But then laminate floorings are high maintenence too so not really much diff except for the cost
  25. Ranval, not really.. Im the type who plans ahead of bdays & special days like mother's day for eg. Maybe im a little kiasi but then its always to be prepared than being unprepared. As for summer..nope he's not been very good lately. He'd peed in the living room & near the kitchen cabinets today some more.
