  1. Many thanks @JohnJohn! I am having trouble deciding on my kitchen countertop. Did not see Dekton at my contractor's. May I know the cost of that please?
  2. Wow, what a feast... Edison bulbs consume a lot of electricity heh (also expensive)... but looks really good. I can't wait to put up my table lamp with an Edison bulb though. Electrician hasn't come in yet, so I have no idea how lighting will turn out. But I already bought E27 LED bulbs I adore the Etch lamp you have. Is it stainless steel though? Difficult to clean?
  3. Wah so lucky to get free expedited shipping! At least everything turned out ok. I'm sure with grouting, the gaps will be seamless! Don't sweat it. Can google for dimensions of the sink if the contractor needs it. I did the same for my hob as it did not arrive in time.
  4. I called Mitsubishi today and checked with their technician on my air con's isolator switch. Asked them about the black patch on the ceiling, and he said it was likely to be dust from the blowers and should be easily cleaned off with some soap and water. Hope it works!
  5. Maybe it really is dust... (from the blower and it has accumulated over time)... Try wiping off first?
  6. DIY one wall at a time perhaps. It should be manageable with some good music, a glass of red, then another, and another... Plus I can imagine the immense satisfaction of everything painted straight. Btw are your lightings sufficient for the whole place? Noticed that you have more than one bulb for dining and dry kitchen area.
  7. Some stains here and there... Also not painted straight when one wall is of a different colour, same case as yours. The white side has some specks of other colour. Will not die one, but will irk a perfectionist to death slowly (everytime see it then the blood pressure rises)
  8. @Lazyfatcat007 sorry, I'd just realised my silly mistake when i looked at the floorplan again... Did your ID make a fuss when you deducted some money? I'm contemplating getting someone to come in and repaint again... But so waste $. The walls look like they only received one coat of paint. Probably I should consider DIY one weekend...
  9. @SimplePersonSimpleLife your wife has excellent taste!
  10. Hey @althevin how's the carpentry so far? Going well I hope!
  11. Just wondering, did your contractor resolve the unprofessional paint job? Noticed that my paint job is rather unsatisfactory and not sure what can be done about it. Have reflected to contractor, but no sound so far. If it's so shoddy, might as well DIY and save my blood-sweat $.
  12. I think the floorplan is slightly similar to my colleague's in the north, so it's a lucky guess! Your smaller bathroom is bigger than my bigger bathroom! Considered big to me, haha. The bedroom sizes are quite normal, though the kitchen is indeed a little small (ok for me, as will not be doing much cooking). I suppose you will need to maximise storage in the kitchen and make use of the household shelter. When will reno start?
  13. Wow. I LOVE the main door and the gate! Gorgeous! Is the main door 100% solid wood or solid with veneer?
  14. My contractor also not gan-chiong! I'm the only one panicking... I'm just looking at the schedule everyday and wondering why there is little to no progress, after all the tiling works. As @SimplePersonSimpleLife pointed out, it is better for them to do a proper job and I totally agree. However, I have found some rather irksome defects here and there, and have asked for rectifications. So far, really progressing very slowly...
  15. Eh, nice variations on the tiles... I wish I was bolder in selecting bathroom tiles! Don't worry - you can buy nice unit numbers and stick them onto your main door. I was also afraid of cleaning textured laminates and went down to Lamitak to have a proper look. In the end, opted for a textured one for the wardrobes, and smooth ones for the kitchen (much easier to wipe the grease off). I like "Ground" and "Champagne" for the laminates. Good luck!!
  16. This is quite cool! Thanks for sharing your exciting project! Have a smooth reno and continue to post updates.
  17. Yes you need a permit from HDB. Quite easy to install though - it is fixed onto the glass panel. The window people did the installation after my other windows were completed.
  18. And a ventilator fan! Yay to good ventilation in the bathroom
  19. I gave in and bought a ceiling fan... Did not want one with lights, so settled for a woody one. Bought some LED lights too... They have all yet to be installed. Lighting is still one of my biggest worries actually, as it's quite hard to visualise the brightness levels. Eventually decided to have pendants instead of track lights. My buddy says nothing is unchangeable... If really fail, then get electrician to redo lor. What to do right... Also bought table lamp and floor lamp - they will only be delivered early August.
  20. Your renovation is turning out really great! Hope all continues to go smoothly. Love the balcony. And those tiles! Can imagine chilling out there with a beer...
  21. Congrats on being a new home owner! and welcome! I'm so envious of your bathroom size! Is this place in the northern part of SG?
  22. Really love how the colours are turning out! Wonderful... The door colours looks great too! Did you order a new door (main entrance)? Btw can please let me know how much the sofa costs? Can PM me if not convenient to reveal here.
  23. @huiamos I believe I saw this model recently at either Best Denki or Harvey Norman... Like it for its compact size, plus if I recall correctly, the energy consumption is not too bad! Should not be too difficult to find a replacement for that space... unless you intend to get fridge with french doors! Did you get the Mi TV eventually?
  24. Very lovely place. Is that a Panasonic fridge with bottom freezer? I'm eyeing the same! Any reviews?
