  1. I paid COV using cheque. Cant help but notice your COV is quite high.
  2. We purchased a full HD LCD TV recently also. When we first plug the TV on and tuned to a free-to-air channel. The picture quality was very bad. We thought there was something wrong with TV. By chance, we adjusted the contrast, brightness, and other settings and managed to get a decent picture quality.
  3. Which one consume more power? How many years of warranty do the fridges above provide?
  4. If possible, find the ants' nest and get rid of it. You can see the ants' trail and where the trail leads to.
  5. I had a partition wall fixed up for fengshui purposes. Also, all the wirings to the lightings in the false ceiling in the living room converged to the switches on the partition wall. So, there are no electrical wire trunking visible in this portion of the apartment. Many of my friends have feature walls in the their living room. Some of the feature walls are made of solid plywood (probably because the feature wall need to support the suspended TV console), while some others sounded hollow inside.
  6. The toilet fittings, e.g. toilet bowl, instant water heater, basin, provided by contractors are the standard ones. My contractor did not give me a range of choices to choose from. Others things like taps, you have to buy yourself and ask the contractor to install. I purchased the taps, shower accessories and got the contractor to fix them.
  7. I believe that behind every lousy retailer is their lousy supplier who is also giving the retailer problems. I lodge complaints to Sharp's Japan and HK offices. I do not expect any replies from them but I email them anyway.
  8. I think you need to find out what is the feature wall made of and how the feature wall is secured to the concrete wall behind. If you ran electrical cables behind the feature wall, you need to find out their positions as well. To be safe, I think you should get your renovator to do it. I wanted to mount an LCD TV on the partition wall in my living room. Although my contractor said he do not expect any problems, I did not went ahead with the idea because the TV wall mount bracket are not installed onto the wooden studs of the partition wall and that there are electrical wires in the partition wall.
  9. Since we have a wall mount bracket from that purchase, we got another much cheaper Akira LCD TV from another store and got our contractor to wall-mount that TV in our guest room.
  10. The agent was not the one providing the wall mount rack. BEST Denki did not inform us before hand. Sharp and Best Denki gave nothing was in black and white with regard to where to collect, when to collect and what documents to bring. Everything was verbal. I guess this makes it convenient for them to make changes. By the way, both Sharp and Best Denki provide no email address to send customer feedbacks. One can only speculate why...
  11. We purchased some electronics including a Sharp LCD TV. Problem 1 ======= 2 weeks later, on the day that the LCD TV was to be delivered and wall-mounted, Sharp called to ask me to call them when I receive LCD TV. (I wonder why cant Best Denki and Sharp coordinate this effort) Best Denki delivered all the electronics we purchased but DID NOT deliver the wall mounting fixtures for the LCD TV. And I was under the impression that the wall mounting fixture was to be delivered and installed by the people from Sharp. The people from Sharp came 1 hour later and found that the wall mounting fixture was not delivered. Problem 2 ======= On the day that we purchased the TV, we were told that we are to collect vouchers from Sharp-Roxy. We were advised we needed to bring along the sale invoice. We were not advised on what to bring. There were no instructions in any of the documents received. We do not even know where to collect the vouchers from. Sharp-Roxy have any offices here. When I reached the Sharp-Roxy office, I then learn that we needed to bring some many documents for verification purposes. Whose fault is it? Was the error due to Sharp-Roxy for not training the Best Denki promoter right? Was Best Denki for not doing enough to provide a hassle-free retail experience?
  12. I asked the contractor and the people from Sharp. Contractor insists that the structure will hold. I am not 100% convinced. Sharp LCD folks came and wanted to just install and run off. Unlike air-con installation from Gain City, there is no installation warranty for installing the LCD TV onto a wall. So, they could be bothered to give advice. Entirely up to me. I guess this is the kind of service you can expect from Best Denki and Sharp. Anyway, thank you for your comments. I do not think the structure will hold the weight of the TV and I was not ready to experiment. Gave this idea a miss.
  13. Thinking of mounting an LCD TV on a gypsum partition wall. Ideally, I would prefer the contractor to affix wooden studs secured from one end to the other end of the partition wall I noticed that the contractor merely drilled wood behind the gypsum board. Wood shall allow the screws be firmly secured when they are screwed in. However, this also seems to suggest that the drywall is bearing the weight of the LCD TV and not the stud. Would the gypsum board be strong enough or will there be problems? Does anyone has any experience on this matter?
  14. Some renovators placed tiles, most renovators do not. Some other lazy renovators do not even place tiles over the wall area covered by the kitchen cabinet. I do not think it make any difference whether tiles are laid or not laid over the floor area covered by the kitchen cabinet. If your quotation says that the entire kitchen floor are to be laid with tiles and you like to have tiles over the floor area covered by the kitchen cabinet, you should have it.
  15. Can the false ceiling be made of solid plywood?Would it be better if the false ceiling in kitchen is made of solid plywood?
  16. That is the problem I have as well. The homogeneous floor tiles will definitely get scratched. I think the contractors need to have a level ground to use as a reference for their measurements when they install the false ceiling, trunkings for the air-con pipes and electrical wirings, etc. However, I think the ceiling can also be used for this purpose. Why floor tiles is done first? I think doing this saves the contractors time and effort.
  17. My contractor told me that he can remove some of the fine scratches on the polished homogeneous tiles by using Autosol? Is there any truth in this? I think he is bullsh*tt*ng me. Replacing the scratched polish homo tiles may cause the affect portion of the floor to become uneven. Sigh...
  18. Electrical wires should last for a long time. I think the electrical wire should last as long as the flat, assuming that the amount of current loaded in the past is well below the specified maximum tolerance of the wires, which happens to be 13A and 15A for power-points intended to be used by the aircon compressor.
  19. I visited a friend's place to have a look at their downlights. The false ceiling around where the downlight is installed can get slightly damaged after the downlight is installed. The damaged area around the downlight have to then be repair using white plaster/cement? In doing so, the edges of the downlight can be covered by the white plaster, which forms part of the false ceiling. Does this mean that I might damage the false ceiling when I remove the downlight to get hold of the ballast hidden inside the false ceiling? I think so. In end, I took the ones without the ballast. I do not want to get into a situation where I need to remove the entire downlight just to get access to the ballast.
  20. The best solution for this problem is to have ABS trimmings?
  21. Correct me if I am wrong, isn't the fluorescent tubes placed into the L-Box to get the cove lighting. http://bp0.blogger.com/_jObgNd8KO4U/SB8_mF...-h/False1_2.JPG
  22. I was expecting to see a single continuous piece from the ceiling to the floor covering the edge. Instead, they used two pieces, a very long one and a much shorter one. They told me that their longest piece isn't long enough to cover the edge from the ceiling to the floor. So, 2 pieces had to be used. I accepted his explanation.
  23. I was thinking of getting the downlight with ballast as well. The salesgirl just keep telling us to buy the downlight without ballast... I wonder why.
  24. Your home looks fantastic! Your ID, Cissern, is arguably the best!
