  1. For my case I am re-using my old queen bed which is wider than normal. Went and measure so many times I cannot remember until I feel safe to continue to use it. Thank God it fitted well else don't know what to do with my bed liao. Save $$$, phew!
  2. Yeah, it is a little headache. But actually not that much headache because you don't have much choice. Only 1 place for bed (queen size only), 1 place for TV and 1 place for wardrobe. Unless you customise everything, that you can have more flexibility, but that also means more $$$.
  3. Welcome welcome. The sofa pix will be up later, going thru the sequence of my photos. !! But I am not convinced it will look good on picture. It looks better when sitting on it Ya, saw this at Novena HomeFix and actually like it very much. Can dry wine glasses and the same loop can dry cups too. But a warning is the plates drying area is good for shallow plates only, deep plate or kids bowl will not 'stand straight', so will be lying down. But still like it.
  4. New Paint: Dining and glimpse of Study and Boy's Room Study Room Boy's Room Guest Room Master Bedroom (only painted the dark colored wall and not the rest which will be light color)
  5. No worries Did you join the HomeFix membership? Free registration and I think every $200 spent can exchange for $5 voucher, not much lah but better than nothing. Heehee...
  6. Why is husband usually the picky one? Same for my case, my wife eats anything, I don't eat veg. Meat no matter how it's cook also can. But now got to learn to eat veg coz wife complain I not showing good example. So guess this tingkat thing may force me to eat (else nothing to eat liao.)
  7. Mine all 52". BTW was told 52" has the best price. The 40+" ones are more expensive than 52" and are usually use in condo rooms as their room usually smaller than HDB according to them (so maybe also try to chop the rich? ).
  8. I did mine with them recently. Eric is the sales person who came to do the measurement. Quite a nice uncle but enjoy sharing his experience with other customer and hard to get him to stop. But overall I find the service not bad and the price is reasonable (not the cheapest nor the most expensive). I did all aluminum except the balcony is wrought iron. I think he give quite good advise and is well verse with HDB rules and will inform you clearly. Example is that I wanted to do window for my service balcony. He advise 2 panel and I requested for 3 panel, he than tell me the HDB rules on min and max length of the window, which another contractor did not tell me and say can do. When I can't decide if I want casement or sliding, he explained to me the pros and cons and in the end advise sliding (casement is actually more expensive). So feel he not so bad. One slight problem though, he seems very busy and it took some chasing for him to deliver (all drag a long time but need to call him to remind and chase him). So need to be more pro-active on our part and he will deliver. The workers were nice and I feel did a good job. So far so good (touch wood).
  9. Nah...not really, only the study and boy's room. Boy's room will have 2 different blue. My elder one chose it himself. The space outside the kitchen will be my dining area while the space next to the living room I am got a piano there and a glass cabinet nearby. That's the plan for now. Part 2 of the plan still in the pipeline, but may not be so soon.
  10. I see, sorry for recommending the place. I recommended because my neighbourhood shop quote me Amasco 52" with lights at $200+, so I find them cheap. And he like quite nice also. Never asked the price for Fanco coz we like the Gut Metal color from Amasco. So looks like a bad place to take other brand from that shop.
  11. I just took up the trial started yesterday. The price stated is before GST for for 10 days is $105.93. Stated the trial is 3 dishes + 1 soup but after trial can switch to 4 dishes instead. Day 1 food not bad, but not suitable for kids. Need to call them to tell them no spicy stuff.
  12. Yeah, I always believe to renovate according to our means. And I don't have tips from this forum in my 1st reno. So am glad to find this forum too. All the best to your new home and I am sure it will turn out just fine, with a little bit of effort.
  13. We got the groove line to, it is indeed for heat expansion/contraction. But we went ahead and plaster it anyway coz my wife hates the groove looks.
  14. Your 52" fanco without lights? I got from them Amasco 52" with lights at $150 leh. Who you got it from?

  16. Hi kalista, As I mentioned, this is not my first house so I have quite a bit of 'recycled' furnitures and appliances. A list of 'recycled' items include: Queen bed 4 chest of drawers bedside table Room TV Boy's bed Boy's underside bed Boy's CD rack Boy's Wardrobe Boy's 3 chest of drawer Boy's bookshelf Boy's short bookshelf 4 bookshelves 1 corner bookshelf Guestroom single bed Dining table and chairs Microwave Fridge Wine Chiller Shoe Rack Small bench beside shoe rack Not sure if I missed out anything. As you can see, this list already save us quite a bit. Some of the items we DIY ourselves, some we got some help to squeeze price, and also a lot of hunting for value items. The final bill is not out yet but it should not deviate too much from our initial budget. We also kept carpentry work to the minimal (it is a huge chunk of the cost) and we take simple lights and ceiling fans with lights (no need to headache what light to take) to keep the lighting cost down. The only carpentry work we have is actually kitchen cabinets only. We did a partition for our Alumix wardrobe for master bedroom and the guest room we bought a cheap wardrobe. We kept all the original HDB items to keep cost low (any hacking will be another cost). Since yours is a resale flat, there should be a significant number of items that you do not need to fork out. Than again, it depends on how much you like their current deco. My 1st flat is also a 4NG resale flat. I painted the entire house, stick to the existing kitchen cabinet, do up the window grille, change the kitchen and toilet flooring (coz they are original 20yrs ago type), installed sys2 aircon, some furniture, and pretty much live in. It's not something we would like if we have more budget as once we move in we find the kitchen cabinets to be in bad condition, and other things we don't like, but have to live with it. 8 yrs on, we re-renovated the whole house, change the kitchen cabinet, wardrobe, room and living flooring (with laminated wood), repainted the whole house, and pretty much live more happily. This time round coz it's a premium new flat, some of the things are already done by HDB so we did save a bit.
  17. Yeah...7 ceiling fans in all, 1 for each room and 3 in living dining. My wife is a big fan of ceiling fans and she hate those standing fan taking up spaces. Especially in rooms which is very small. You are the 1st to say the gate nice leh, my wife hate it, but gonna live with it till we can afford to change. Hahaha.... Super windy not really lah, coz my living dining are is quite big and take up most of the floor space in the house leaving us with tiny rooms to work with. 3 is just nice we feel.
  18. Is it UK or USA site? If USA can use VPOST. If UK will be tough. Alternative is to go UK ebay site and see if they are selling. Many UK ebay seller ships internationally. www.ebay.co.uk
  19. More pix rolling out slowly... The guest room original is suppose to be the study room, but we need to put in 3 study tables, 1x 80cm bookshelf, 3x 60cm bookshelves, 1 corner bookshelf and 3x 20cm CD Tower rack. So no choice have to change change change. !!
