  1. Get proper primer as undercoat, dun use the ceiling paint. Reason is primer are specially formulated to protect the paints you are painting on, and to ensure maximum applicability. You dun need alot of primer, cos you can always dilute them down if you are painting dark over light. Ceiling paint if you want to save some $$ can opt for Matex. But the quality is not very good.
  2. your toilet wall very leh. BTW, you use wallpaper issit? Is the material able to withstand the moisture and humidity of a toilet?
  3. The IDs I've talked to previously are quite receptive to the idea of ceiling fan :P . Cos a ceiling fan is really very practical. The only problem is that you have a limitation on how to design your false ceiling. If your living room is those long type, then certain areas wun kena the wind from the fan, then mayb u need to decide if you want to get 2 ceiling fans  IMHO, its the ID's job to help you think of how to help you meet your requirement. Probably you tell him/her that you really want a ceiling fan and willing to compromise on the design a bit. see what they propose before you decide lor. There are designer ceiling fans available if you are concerned abt integrating to the design, but those may be quite ex. I've seen some in the $500 ranges. I, however, chosen KDK for its reliability rather than the design. KDK designs are all very simple and standard and nothing fanciful.
  4. yup. got spare cash go and install. If you later decide to install then you will end up with large ugly trunking Anyway, I remembered my ID memtioned air con trunking cannot be hidden in false ceiling cos too thick liao. Need to use stuffs like your other furniture to hide. You can ask your ID for advise before you proceed bah
  5. ya.. vhive got quite an extensive range of office furniture. Can also try the brand Sitoca. Mine lastest for more than 10 years
  6. are those sticky sticky feel similar to those like when you remove those price tag stickers? You can pour some cooking oil on a rag and rub it on the window. The oil will dissolve the sticky gums. After that, you can use your Mr Muscle or other household cleaners to cleanup the oil. You may need quite an amount of cooking oil if your window is big. 2nd method is to use scotch tape to slowly 'tape' up the sticky stuffs. Experiment and see which works the best
  7. Can try http://www.decorettestore.com Ordered from them a few times liao. :good:
  8. heard that Gaincity the prices quite competitive. Can go to their store and have a look
  9. too late. my reno was done before they announced the opennet installation procedure. Anyone has their's done already? How do they affect your house? Mine is totally covered with false ceiling and concealed wiring. Took great pain to avoid trunking. Hope that this installation will not affect the look :(
  10. anyone done this before? I'm thinking of hiding some additional wires inside the false ceiling
  11. Bedbugs should be left to the experts. I know that is the last thing you will recommend, but that is my advise. My ex-gf (now wife) house use to kena. we tried all means to get rid of them (use lots of bygon, sun the furniture etc) but they still managed to survive. In the end we called the experts. They do a complete fogging of the house and everyone have to evacuate it for half the day. In the end, the bed bug problem is solved liao
  12. Did you prime the walls prior to painting?
  13. ya.. a friend also want to install themselves, but found out the supplier are willing to install for them
  14. I'm using a 3+1 also. reason is that the system 3 was already deployed by the flat developer. So die die have to use a system 1 for living. The one for the living is hardly used, unless got big gatherings. However we still decide to do it during the reno period. So that our ID can help has hide the big ugly trunkings with the carpentry.. so something like planning for the future. Cos if next time then do then will be quite ugly
  15. The mover I engaged is on a higher side, about $300+ to shift 1 room's worth of furniture + about 30 boxes. The only good thing is that they come to the site to assess the manpower needed and gave me an official quote after that. so, if nothing much changes, they cannot demand for more $$ as they have already quoted and prepared the invoice. PM me if you want to know who I hired
  16. Mine system 3 (for bedrooms) seems be under the toilet floor as I can see the pipe end deep inside the drainage hole in the toilet. The piping was deployed by the flat developer, hence I think they are able to do such a design. My compressor #2 for the living room deployed by my ID travels behind the kitchen cabinets and ends up in the drainage under the sink area. Fot shifting the aircon from 1 wall to another, best you consult your aircon vendor. I learnt that some walls cannot place aircon cos there maybe beams or such in along the walls such that they cannot deploy the water pipes and gas pipes. They may also need to replace the gas pipes or rerun the gas pipes from another location. so many factors
  17. Strictly speaking, you will need to take up the entire sink from the solid top. First disconnect all pipings from the wall to the sink. Remove existing silicone. You can use turps and a scrapper to scrap them off. After that, apply new silicone around the hole quickly. after that, quickly put the sink back before the silicone sets. Screw the sink in place. After that you can use some turps to smoothen the silicone. Dun worry if the silicone "spills" over when you put down the sink. That is a good sign that the sink is sealed thoroughly with the silicone. Once done. you can connect back your piping. Silicone normally gains full strength after 24Hrs, so try not to use the sink/splash it with water in the mean time.
  18. Ikea also sell nice quilts. I bought another one for my house (the cheapest one abt $30 IIRC) cos last time bought a thicker one, in the end never really use cos too hot. The cheapest one is just nice for SG weather
  19. Mine is a horizontal heater. Installed in the common bathroom. There is a false ceiling installed to conceal the heater
  20. not whole unit. just the living room, dining, study area. Cos the existing points HDB provided are insufficient and their placement not practical. Installed light pelmets and L-boxes to hide the ugly wiring (not included in the 2K)
  21. Nope. Dun think so. I remembered she tried to arrange for a visit to my place, but last min I cannot make it home, so she arranged to visit someone else. Maybe it is you that she is arranging to view my hse. haha
  22. mine also Jessie :yeah: . I stay in Tampines also btw.. Welcome to the neighbourhood. Good luck to your reno.
  23. u engaged insideliving ah? Who is your ID. I also engaged Insideliving for my reno. They completed my unit few months back
