Buying 2nd Hand Resale But ....

Recommended Posts

$90 includes door knot.

Door knot is normal type. I saw exactly the same one at one hardware shop, selling at $8.50.

Any locksmith to recommend window grill's lock? I don't want to be chopped carrot again hahaha.

Aiya, if u engage handy man or lock smith, they will cut u like carrot.

Why don't u try to do it on your own?

Those locks with "tongue" right?, can be easily forced open, then make good again. I have the powerful big padlock/chain cutter can lend to you, if you want.

I don't think the locksmith would just dismantle the lock open and replace with new one.

For this, you can just use any drill to dismantle the lock

Thanks for the replies.

I'm a female btw. :P Hubby and I don't know how to change the locks.

Yes the locks are those "popping out like tongue" type once key is inserted into them. I shall update him about the info you all gave me, see what he says later.

Gate lock is easier to change when they are not lock. Then you can access from both sides.

Unscrew the lock cover, bring them to the hardware shop :)

Window grill lock are all identical for the whole hse. You find 1, you can open all.

By chance sometimes, you can open lock with other ppl window lock key.

Just poke in and turn the lock.

Aiyo, MOE should change their syllabus and delete away those "music" & "art" subjects. And "teach" one how to hold a screw driver & drill, change lock. Quite common sense that locksmith will destroy existing & replace with a new one, or need no lock at all? Or lock + cable tie like what my mil did?

Cannot meh ! My hse 1 key fits all grill lock.

By the way, you insert the key first, a bit hard if you turn the key.

After key insertion, you turn the lock.

Grill lock are usually rivet mount, drill on the rivet and change new lock.

But then again, you need the rivet gun and bullet.

Got this gun at home, use once, and it is still in my storeroom :):)

Good suggestion haha! But like that, it will affect the rice bowl of locksmiths.

I'll get my hubby to read all your replies. Afterall, he's better at mechanical things than me. I can only do maid duties better than him.

I'm trying to google for online guide to changing window grille lock but I can't find any guide for the type of lock we have.

Sometimes ID are DIY type, will fixed up some of these at FOC.

Some contractor will carry drill. ( Electrician, installer, carpenter..etc. )

Just get them to drill those 2 rivets out to fixed the problem temporary for servicing.

After all, its MBR. Not that dangerous :)
