Hi Jgal,

I'm glad to know your renovation went well.

I'm new here but I am here AFTER signing with UD.

ya, a werido I am! keke

signed then dare to read reviews. keke

perhaps I am one who believes in reviews are for considerations but decision is ownself.

and I mass sent emails to renovation/design companies to compare the quotes of those I received.

but to be very frank, grand total is the first thing I see when I opened a quotation file.

I didn't even bother to go through the quotation if the grand total exceeded 20% of my budget.

because, in any way, I need to know money is more important since I had paid a huge amount of COV for my 16yr old resale unit.

not to miss out, my required works are little and minor, it's thus seems hard to find any companies or sales that willing to entertain my quotation. kekeke.

although my resale unit is well-done, well-maintained but had various already-have problem since seller knocked this down, changed that entrance/door (this is something I know since the day I viewed the house). I am to either decide on resuming it or be it.

Initially I asked myself "should I seek ID's advises? but they sure to say resume it since they can earn money from more reno done!" but met this UD (not Susan, not Bert, not Alex, not Nicholas) which, woah!, never give any advises but only listen to what I WANT TO DO.

Initially thinking quite "ay? how come my ID different from my friends's "descriptions" of an/their ID??" but soon, I get to realize cause he already read my requirements in email and will only work towards it!

Well, this can be good or bad la.. hor? depending on individual's views ya..

but I must say, the latter came to the house (when officially mine) and after having on-site viewing, he did SUGGESTED his point of views on my (wanted minor) renovations but with a general comment "see if you want la".

hence, I am always the one telling friends that my ID is different from theirs. Asking them is it because my renovation is minor? or is it because mine is resale flat so not much for them to initiate a "change" or "suggestions".

but it is always me waiting for my ID when there's a meet up. I am not sure if it's because my ID is from malaysia and hence late when meeting (Saturdays).

this has hence lead to my worries on whether will my ID be around every morning when MY renovation starts.

just curious with u folks.. are your ID Sgps or Msians???

as when I was choosing the tiles, my ID met his colleague in the tiles shop and I can tell that his colleague is also a Msian.

I have no hard feelings on nationalities. I am only asking to "compare" the so-called subjective replies here - "Different ID, Different Customer Service".

Thanks! :)

Hi. We have also engaged an id from urban design. He is Malaysian too. When we went around with him we found that the tile shops, light shops, bathroom accessory shops, have Malaysian staff too. But we have no problems as they offered good service. We feel quite comfortable, but of course we know we are paying more for the convenience of ordering thru their designated shops. I must say our Id is relaxed and doesn't feel pressure. But we will only know if that's a good thing or not by the end of our project. I guess it's a give and take approach. No doubt we want the best of the best but we can't always get it. We realize that punctuality, keeping an appointment, returning calls are very important to us too. At this time, everything seems to be going okay, except for a few minor hiccups. I guess we have to trust them to do the job well. We will keep u posted on our journey!!!

Hi,

We have also engaged urban design for our resale flat renovation recently. Handover date should be next Monday if nothing delay.

Would like to share our experience with urban design so far. Conclusion -> tiring.........

1) I only met our ID in our new house to discuss our requirement in order to put in the quotation. That's the ONLY time I met her in our new house. Later we only got to meet her assistant to discuss our feedback and all the faults that surfaced. The meeting time mostly held during office hour weekdays lunch time. Not after work schedule. Imagine we have to rush out during office hour, skip our lunch just to meet him and discuss with him. Well, I don't think her assistant is giving us professional idea such as where should we put our toilet accessories etc. I prefer face to face communication rather than just phone communication with ID.

2) Called our ID for a few times regarding water leakage problem but nothing being done. Before all the toilets stuff put in place, they just let water leaks from the pipe, don't even bother to shut the main water supply. So irresponsible.

3) I would said the plumbing work quite lousy. Cannot understand why the pipe is not straight!

http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo17/gohleemin/Urban%20Design/20121107_075133.jpg

4) Be careful when you requested them to do anything EXTRA such as mounting toilet accessories, their workmanship is so lousy. The glass shelf is shaking even before start using it.

http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo17/gohleemin/Urban%20Design/20121107_075221.jpg

5) This is really unacceptable to me, can see from the photo the piping outlet hole they just simply do, how can a more professional work ended up to this big hole result.

http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo17/gohleemin/Urban%20Design/20121107_075255.jpg

http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo17/gohleemin/Urban%20Design/20121107_075304.jpg

6) As for the carpentry work, not really excellent job, do expect something like this in the end.

http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo17/gohleemin/Urban%20Design/20121107_075718.jpg

7) Crack false ceiling, I wonder they really check on the end result after the contractor finished their work.

http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo17/gohleemin/Urban%20Design/20121107_080025.jpg

Conclusion, you really need close supervision on the renovation progress to make sure they are doing their job properly.

Already told them our unsatisfactory comments, let's wait for their corrective result and I'll update again.

Oh that sounds pretty bad and judging by the pictures, I wouldn't be happy either. I do hope it can all be resolved by the time you move in........ I agree with you, it is very hard to set up appointments face to face , and to get timely replies!!!! However our Id does call us back .....but in his time! So I know it's frustrating but we have decided to not get to fussed about it anymore. It is too tiring !!! At the end of the day we have to trust that they will deliver!!!im hoping they deliver for u too!!! We are all excited for our new homes!!!!wishing you all the best for a speedy solution .........

Hi,

My ID is Susan.

Luckily you did not opt for them. Unless you want problem in the end.

Finally I moved in to my new house. Lots of problem here and there.

After I moved in, only I realized that my toilet bowl is not sealed up. Imagine the smell in the toilet. Guess what my ID told me, because the toilet bowl was not bought from her recommend shop, the model I bought somewhere else not able to fit into the hole. She don't even bother to tell me before the installation. She said her job only help in installation, not include others. When Im so angry and scolded her, she quoted an example to me that if you buy a TV bracket from somewhere else and cannot fit your TV model, it's the sales personnel should advise you whether suitable for your TV or not. Her job only help to install. So in the end, even though there is problem, she don't bother and just install. To me, at least she updates me on this problem and I can change to other toilet bowl model before installation. So irresponsible working attitude right?

In the end, I've to engage another plumber to solve the problem. Don't even dare to find her again. I had enough problem.

The water leakage problem was solved in the end after a very angry call to her. She keeps telling me that no leakage in the toilet, but whenever I go and check, there is dripping from the pipe. She thinks Im so free to make up something to trouble her. Insisted she visit the house together with us and show us how she check on the leakage. Then only she admit there is leakage. Will solve. This kinda process ding dong ding dong a few rounds. Imagine a few rounds, keep calling and tell her that fix here and another pipe leaking again.

I opt for handler for my kitchen cabinet door, in the end, some of the doors only can open up to 30 degree. LOLZ. I questioned her, how am I suppose to take something from the cabinet with such a small opening angle? Her answer as usual, "you opt for handler, that's the problem with handler." Again, sound like it's my choice ended up to this problem. She did not tell me this when I choose the handler in her office. I wonder how other ID film design on the handler kitchen cabinet. Maybe she's not expect at all in this field. I insisted her to do something on the door. She cannot put the blame to others like the toilet bowl already since all the kitchen cabinet is her responsibility.

http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo17/gohleemin/Urban%20Design/20121112_231603.jpg

I thought they will change another tile for me, just a quick fix. Im so lazy to feedback again. So many problem that you'll just give up in the end.

http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo17/gohleemin/Urban%20Design/20121112_075935.jpg

Even though the simple work like installing the storage heater also have problem. They installed and blocking all the clothes hanger, again, have to feedback and they come and redo all the installation job again.

All the renovation work with Urban design (susan) is quite a tiring process.

They did quote us the cheapest price among all the quotation we asked around. Then from this forum, her review not bad. Thurs, we are thinking only simple renovation work for our house, not fancy renovation request, nothing will goes wrong. But in the end, she really proved me wrong. Thurs, I think my feedback in this forum is very important to give the true scenario to others house owner like us. Consider again your choice if you wanna go to urban design (susan), unless you plan to create problem for yourself.

Hi, who's your ID? They are in my inital consideration but eventually I did not opt for them.
