Above wardrobe laminate code is Lamitak Collins Marcello Walnut. WY 5240D.

Master. Personally preferred the more subtle, lighter color for the wardrobes below instead of the previous one.

Quite similar to IKEA's birch colour. Code is Lamitak Riviera Viola Noce. WY 5244D.

Kitchen Cabinet is using Lamitak Amber York Teak. WY 5232D.

Study is using Lamitak Canele York Teak. WY 5230D.

Your layout design was quite unique with the study room at the kitchen there. and it was nice! you have 2 aircon compressor or outdoor unit, whatever it is call. Can you take a pic on how it will be placed? Because i see that your aircon ledge had pipe so wonder it can be side by side?

Thanks. Here you go :) One on top of another installed using brackets. Added an additional power outlet (not in pic, at the side)

Very nice! The sofa really matches the look. A daring colour choice but I must say it works beautifully

:) Thanks. We are loving it! Had that colour in mind for the sofa but was searching all over the place for it. Places like Commune and Whitewood carried darker vintage colours, not exactly what we want.

Another candidate was IKEA's stockholm leather sofa...

then we saw the Ikea display piece looked super black after a few months. Quite scared.

Finally found the leather colour at Hommage. So happy! :dancingqueen:

That was neat. Doing this way stacking up, do you know if it will fit 2 x system 3?

Wow 6 aircons! No idea if it will fit. Better check with your air-con specialist.

It has been a while. Between then and now, couple of stuff happened, got the internet and phone line up, curtains added, lights fixed and stuff moved.

First up, curtains! We went with MGL curtains because they had a facebook page with loads of fans and customer reviews. Went down 2 times to speak to them. The first time, salesman was quite awkward, not eloquent, didn't provide us with much info. Maybe cos we are noobs and have no idea how to ask anyway. The second trip, we were entertained by Vester. Really helpful and a lot of patience showing us a great selection of materials. Cost wise seems reasonable. We didn't do much comparisons since we got so tired of running around.

The fabric we chose were mostly safe colours. very Light grey and with machine wash-able black out backing.

27_curtainFabricSelection.JPG

Cost a little more to add the black out but we prefer not to have streaks of lights distorting the colour of the fabric when fully drawn in the day.

Took about 2-3 weeks for them to get the curtains ready. Installation is about 2 hours.

Some of the stuff to consider wre

  • Type of fabric or look, prepare some images. We didn't have and were overwhelmed by the selection.
  • Layers
    • night + day or just 1 layer. Need black out?
    • we don't have direct sunlight and enjoy a bright living area, so we do away with day curtains and chose a thick fabric with blackout backing.
  • Tracks or bar? We chose tracks. smaller and hidden by curtain when drawn
  • At which part of the wall do you want to hang the curtains.
    • From ceiling - to get the full height effect? or
    • underside of the beam protrusion near the window?
    • We chose ceiling, except for living we had to go with the wall due to electrical trunking.
  • Do consider if you would like to add window grilles in future. One of the reasons why we went with the ceiling is so that we give a lot of allowance at the windows for the grilles when we have kids. If you would like the curtains to start at the underside of the beams, it is best to have grilles installed first according to the curtains specialist.
  • We were told that beams at new BTOs have enough space for a track for 1 layer of curtain plus window grilles. This means that it might be difficult to have night + day curtains + grilles.

Here are the results.

And we decided to add bamboo chick blinds at our yard too! :) No kids yet, can be impractical a little. Haha.
