For mentioned sliding window pricing, I agar agar is rather 'reasonable'. My 'casement' window - expoxy paint, per piece at SGD200. 5 rm, total 25 pcs = SGD5,000. Children grown up, so I done no 'normal grille' - only 2 solid bars across per window frame from left to right. So I can enjoy the tokong panoramic views.

Well you really cannot just compare the price like that. For windows, there are many different types of aluminium sliding window system out there. Some are more superior than the others. You need to find out a lot more from your contractor about the details and the look of your window system. Get detail drawings from them if they have. Ask them to show you working samples. Sample drawings are also fine. In general, European profiles are typically more expensive, but certainly more durable and looks a whole lot prettier than their cheaper counterparts. Be fully aware of where your windows are manufactured. Aluminium grilles come in many different look. They can be painted (worst), natural adonised, powder coated (quite common), or fluocarbon coated (most expensive). Again it is really not about the price because typically the more expensive coating looks better. So please take all these into considerations.

Excellent review on the LG Roboking
  7. 1 point
Hi myone181 and Songz, I finally managed to break in the LG Roboking vacuum cleaner after downloading a copy of the English manual and reading through it. I haven't fully tested out all the features but so far apart from a few hiccups, I'm liking the robot vacuum alot. Here's a short review for your benefit. Price - unbeatable if purchased from QOO10. It's selling at about 60% of the Singapore price on QOO10 instead of at around $1k in local stores. The catch is that while there is a warranty on the product, if anything happens you will have to send it back to Korea to have it serviced. Not too sure if I'm keen on that. User Friendliness - since everything is in Korean (including the buttons on the robot and remote control, as well as the voices coming from the robot), I would say that based on that it's not very user friendly. But once you read the English manual as found online, it makes things so much easier. Once you set it in the mode you want, vacuuming starts by the press of a single button. Cleaning Power - the robot comes with two yellow side brush attachments which help to sweep dirt to the front of the robot. This is extremely useful in cleaning corners and the edges of the walls. I did not find much dirt hiding in such areas, which is a common complaint for other brand robot vacuums. At the bottom of the robot is where you find a rotating brush at the mouth of the vacuum. This is where all the dirt is caught and gets sucked into the robot's bin. I think the rotating brush does a great job of picking up dirt as it helps to scrub dirt off the floor (I can hear it). For ladies with long hair, the fallen hair on the ground is picked up by the rotating brush, but it gets stuck on it because it's so long. LG recognizes this and provides users with a yellow brush/picking tool which you can use to pick the hair or dirt off the rotating brush. I was pleasantly surprised at how much dirt the robot managed to pick up the first time around (see pics below). Mind you, this is after we had vacuumed and mopped the place at least twice. New house lydat one la, alot of dust and dirt. Still I feel the LG Roboking does a great job picking up dust/dirt. There is a 'mop' attachment as well which consists of a mounting bracket and a microfibre cloth. We haven't tested this out since we prefer to use the magiclean mop for the same purpose. You can't wet the cloth anyway, so I don't think it's of too much use. Area Coverage / Smartness of the LG Roboking - LG is said to produce one of the smarter vacuum robots around. The sensors are very good and this can be seen by the way the robot goes around doing it's business. Apparently some other robots have problems getting a clear picture of their area, which means sometimes they can skip spots around the house if say for example, there is a hump between rooms where people put those plastic covers to cover the gap. Some robots also bump into objects, walls and furniture etc. The LG does a fairly good job of not bumping into things, although it sometimes does bump into chairs, our laundry basket and our step ladder, since those things have very thin legs which the robot may not be able to detect that well. Cleaning is precise and how the robot covers your house depends on what type of mode you set it in. I prefer to set it in the zig-zag mode as I feel it gets the job done best. Although I have yet to watch and monitor the robot clean the entire house (cos we leave it on when we go out for work), from the times I have seen it work it has covered every area in the house. I have a feeling though that it still is in the learning mode, as sometimes it does get stuck at places, for e.g under my bed. Problems - The LG Roboking is not without it's problems. For as good as the rotating brush is, it can also be a bane in some respects. See picture below for case in point. Before you set the roboking to clean mode, you must be sure to remove any thin wires, cords, string rope etc. on the floor to ensure that it does not get caught up in the rotating scrub. The rotating scrub is so powerful that it threatens to eat such wires, strings etc. On hindsight, the carpet that we got isn't great for the purpose of the robot because of the tassels on either side of the carpet. It has gotten caught underneath the robot more than a couple of times that we have deciding to roll up the carpet each time we use the robot vacuum. Then there was another time when the robot ate up the pull strings of our roller blind and just died there. Every time the robot gets stuck, you will have to pull whatever's caught under it and then turn it on again at the same position. I'm still playing around with it everyday in order to get the best out of it. Overall, I think we are both quite pleased with the performance of the LG Roboking. Plus, it's fun to see it roam about the house on it's own - like a little kid. Hope the above helps you with your decision. Cheers

At this point of time, this is how our new house looks like: Starting from the entrance and the TV console: The kitchen which is still wifey's favourite: Our MBR and toilet: And finally which is my favourite, our study room: I really in love with the long study table which I'm sure we gonna spend lotsa time here either reading or gaming With this, our renovation process has almost come to an end. We were glad to have Roy as our ID for not giving us problem but solutions for what we had requested and demanded so far. He is really passionate in design and responsible for his work. If anyone would need an ID without knowing who to approach, I would highly recommend Roy Chong. Hopefully after reading our posts, you are able to get some idea or inspiration for your house renovation. Definitely this will not be our last post as we still have plenty of things to share with all of you. Cheers!!

Saw this on my FB news feed this morning. Just thought I should share it, because it's not the first time I am reading about this local furniture company. "After 5 physical trips to Small Claims Tribunal court and CASE consumer association, i finally managed to get an 85% refund on the useless, defective office chairs that i bought from unscrupulous merchant L**h L**h!!"

~pat pat on shoulder~ the rest of the house are alright, boxing up will hide them up nicely. Think painting the trunking will make it less obtrusive, do u have pipes that needs to paint as well? Perhaps can match the paint color

Furniture shopping before key collection A woman really loves shopping – LOL that’s so true for me even though it’s furniture instead of clothes/shoes . I placed my orders for sofa, bed & dining table even BEFORE key collection! OMG then @ this point, our ID informed us something like he is going back to further his studies So he is handing over our project to his colleague (Jxxxx). We were like (will talk about the experiences with Jxxxx as I go along…) And….FINALLY key collection! First thing for me was to engage a geomancer - to get the auspicious dates for the “official” opening of the door/renovation start dates/moving-in dates & an onsite fengshui audit (LOL I believe in such stuff ). After the audit, we have to have a partition on the existing kitchen countertop to separate the stove and the sink area, as they are "too close" (in fengshui aspects): http://renotalk.com/forum/uploads/gallery_59572_7_15423.jpeg (no solution yet...ID's carpenter has no idea how to..) Next is defects checking! Thank god we think our unit (compared to a few neighbours) is in a reasonable state – the only major defect we had was a leaking kitchen sink due to silicon sealant not done properly @ the tap. The rest, we considered it minor - e.g. gaps in the grouting; kitchen carpentry not fixed properly (hinges not screwed properly/faulty drawers), as well as some chips here and there. Majority of the stuff (like the most important AC/toilet bowls etc.) are in working order . A few neighbours had leaking AC/door hinge missing 3 screws out of 5/hollow tiles etc!! STILL it took the developer 1 month+ to 2 months to rectify all our defects! An advice: Check thoroughly! A seemingly small defect now may become a troublesome one to live with later on! TAKE NO CHANCE! Once the defects were rectified, it’s time for the ID to start work. So WE created a whatsapp group for easy communication – how convenient . -1st thing Jxxxx was to go onsite to take exact measurements & double check with us the design that was handed over to him. We took the chance to ask him about the lighting plan on-site & we subsequently made changes to the original plan & design (as you read on later, the change was not communicated to the electrician ...) Anyway, so far so good. -Next, as we had no contacts for electrician, we asked Jxxxx to recommend his electrician. So arrangement was made for his electrician to go on-site & assess the lighting points required for the proposed lighting plan. A rough & verbal discussion was made. We were told that a draft quote will be sent to us for our consideration before we decide to engage his electrician (the confirmed quote will come when the actual electricity works is done during reno). AND AGAIN , because we had no other contacts PLUS the quote was quite ok, we decided to engage his electrician as we thought it’ll also be easier for Jxxxx to communicate/work with them . And before his workers start work, it's time to get the lights! SHOPPING TIME AGAIN! In total we paid around $2k plus worth of lights - in my opinion, quite EXPENSIVE!! (BUT if a relatively higher priced ones will give me less trouble then I'm all for it! LOL anyway hubby is the CFO , I'm happy with being the CEO This was what we bought: 18 downlights21 T5 lights (seriously we didn't go think if we needed that much - they say need how many, we buy how many )5 Energy bulbs (4 for kitchen, 1 for storeroom)Tracklight (for the walkway to the bedrooms)1 Hanging light (for the dining area)1 Ceiling light (for the balcony)Got a door bell & 2 stainless still hooks FOC LOLAt this point we thought why havn't we been asked to see & confirm the laminates for our custom-make furniture?? So WE actually have to raise this to Jxxxx! OMG he thought the previous ID showed & settled this with us already (he basing on the 3D design). To give him a benefit of doubt, we assume that when he took over, he wasn't completely aware of the status of the project (that to us, includes what has been confirmed with the client and what not). Anyway laminates can still be confirmed before carpentry starts, so not too bad. However we are also starting to feel that he is not really 100% into our project - to us he is like mainly just working based on the quote/3D design, without much suggestions & ideas when we pose him questions ( maybe ours is just a small project, or he has other own projects...afterall he's just completing the job that the previous ID left behind..) But still, as long as we raised anything, he'll help look into it. So thank god, we are on our way to the next stage - renovation finally starts! (Next….our reno schedule & selection of vendors for curtains + storeroom racks + window solar films!)
