Not sure if I have mentioned it here before but I have been boycotting them for a few years now. They are just a plain evil corporation in my view and has nothing other than maximizing profits in mind. The way they secured the exclusive 1 year deal with Apple to sell iPhones before the other telcos and how they have been consistently inflating football subscriptions prices since they arrived on the pay TV scene with a $400m bid for EPL rights are just prime examples. They are also the last one to offer more value to their customers and will only do so when the competition forced their hands. If you are a shareholder, one will probably like them but as a consumer, they simply suck balls.

Some updates from me! Realise I usually post in the beginning of the week and then go MIA... haha... weekends always see us doing something or buying something for the house, that's why. We checked out Mega Discount Store at KLP on Saturday, and managed to finalise some items for our house because the pricing was really good after comparing with GAB and Parisilk. After all the research, and weighing out what we need... we have decided on these items. 1. Washer - frontload Bosch WAS-28448SG (Made in Germany, slightly high-end model but because we are such clean freaks we foresee that we need a sturdy and reliable washer more than anything else in the kitchen. So hence, budget increased and washer decided). Mega managed to match the price we saw from outside so we were super happy about it! 2. Dryer - since we got a Bosch washer, it then makes sense to get a Bosch dryer so that the stack-up look is complete. we got a 7kg vented dryer from Bosch. Excited about this stacked up look. Yippee! 3. Fridge - Hubby and I researched and decided that we should just get a basic fridge with a trustworthy brand. Hence we decided on a Mitsubishi Electric 2-door stainless steel fridge MR-F62E (traditional top freezer). We don't foresee ourselves doing heavy cooking anytime soon so this fridge should be more than big enough for us. 4. hob - Bosch PBD7331SG, black tempered glass 3 burner hob. I'm so happy to get a good pricing from Mega again for a Bosch product. And I've been eyeing this hob for the longest time... yayyy! Judging from the above, hubby and I are fans of German-made products... hahaha. Many Bosch items in our home next time, including a Bosch vacuum cleaner which we already have now. Lol. We haven't got the key collection date yet... sian... but other people from our block (same floor somemore) will be collecting their keys on 15th Apr. I reckon ours will be in the next 2 weeks or so. Very exciting! Hubby and I managed to sneak into our BTO project and for the first time saw our unit front-door. It was such a surreal feeling to see our very own place... even though it was just the front door. The unit was locked so obviously we couldn't see anything else besides the front door... and maybe the service yard. Hahaha. Happy to say that our block is close walking distance to the carpark, and our unit is not far from the elevator. Our rooms and service yard also do not face neighbouring blocks directly which helps in the privacy of our unit. Yippee yayy, so far so good, loving everything we see (from the outside at least).

Actually the situation was saved by my own contractor instead. The firm that does the digital-lock obviously didn't salvage the situation since the uncle who installed the lock did such a poor job on it. I shall post a pic of the touch up work another time... keep a lookout of it

I did have a couple of ID quotes say Space Planning and Design drawings = FOC. Difficult to pin down which item had hidden costs coz some $10/$20 more, I not sure is really they give me better stuff or is they hiding costs. The most different item I saw was for Marble floor polishing. I have quotes ranging from $950 (Alex's quote) to $1700 (from a ID firm). PM-ed you his contact. Just talk to him see how lor. He usually ok to site visit coz he drives. Warn you first, he not pushy type. I was the one who keep calling him. Haha....

Hi, I personally didnt use an ID when we did up our resale couple of months back. Sometimes, people use ID for convenience as they don't know where to start. For us, not having an ID makes the entire project more fun and definitely more "brainstorming" together in putting our ideas together. Got a contractor to do the hacking, floor tiles, parquet, toilets and carpentry. Results were good and many friends who came by asked who our ID was. An ID is good in doing the mock up/3D drawings for visualisation but I was also surprised when the carpenter drew up 3D when we told him our requirements for the wardrobe and cabinets. Since your flooring is already done, perhaps it will largely be on carpentry, lighting and maybe toilets? Shouldnt cost too much unless you will be heavy on the carpentry works. Let me know if you wish to have the contractor contact.

did u ask around for quotes as I think 6k is really very costly and u're paying it for the glass only and excluding the cost of hacking and re-doing the steps. I think 3k should be more reasonable. like what deancarney mentioned, its around there. Think plastering cost for EM is in the range of 3k (+ & -) and painting should be around the range of 2k (+ & -) your quote for plastering and painting looks very reasonable....not forgetting your EM is quite big leh.
