Just placed deposit for a 25 yrs old 5 room 1302 sq ft. This place is fully original, even door frames are slightly rotting and all doors, windows and grilles need to change. Electrical also. I have emailed several companies and all tried to shove me their packages. But because of the extent of work required, it become up to me to go and "catch" what is missing from their package. After a while, it became very tiring. Almost signed up with Ciseern at Expo yesterday cos their package was so comprehensive that it even included sofa, aircon (yes even aircon need replacement) and cooker/hob. But my wife told me to hold and when I came home, I realized that it was at least 11k off my budget. I shouldn't be stretching my budget as my new house installment 40% already have to be paid by cash every month. I'm looking for someone who will give me a detailed quotation and TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO DO rather than leave it to me to check their quotation. I'm a very easy going guy when I'm a customer. A lot of things can cham seong, but when it comes to hidden cost it sends me into a rage as I myself is very transparent dealings. Any recommendation ?

For those who stay in old flat got to have their compressor installed outside MBR mostly as we do not have service yard. Afraid that someone's Aircon will drip water, poodle of water gathering after rain and dirty things which may gather on the compressor after sometime. I have put anti slip mat on the compressor and hope it can resolve the issue. However the normal anti slip mat are those with holes kind and worry that dirt will gather and may still have sound if water drip on it. After finding for quite sometime I found a more suitable mat although not really that perfect, This mat is also easy to clean by just rinishing water on it and the dirt will drop off if you just use your finger to rub to the edge (*However it still have some holes like those anti slip mat which I hope will not trap too much dirt). Below are the pictures of the mat on the compressor & a close up of the mat.

hi charis, if you have waited for almost 2 weeks and no reply from him, clearly show that he chooses his customer. if that is the case, i would advise you to drop him as he doesnt seem to be sincere. Why i said that:- 1. if you have signed the contract and paid your 1st payment, you sure he wont run away with your money? 2. if you are facing some problem with the renovation and need his advice, would you wait for his reply for 2 weeks again?

Welcome to Renotalk! Your title "2 steps forward, 1 step back" reminds me of a Korean song in "Secrets Garden".

To me, it is a very good choice. The clean, sleek and simplicity look speaks volume. Further to that, changing the bulbs is a breeze and the cleaning is a walk in the park. I like so much so that I have 4 of them. One for the living, one for dining and 2 for the bedrooms.

Including Pictures in your Post To include pictures in your post, you need to invoke the command in your post. This works for Renotalk as well as many other blogs or forums. You can get the IMG link on your Photobucket or Flickr account on your computer. On Mobile, you can get it from the Photobucket app but I cannot find it on the Flickr app. On Flickr, you can only copy the URL. Not sure if you can just add the IMG command to this URL. The IMG link provided by Photobucket is very neat. I like it. On the other hand, Flickr adds text like "by so-and-so on Flickr" which I always delete before posting. I would have happily gone on to use Photobucket forever but i hit a problem. Photobucket gives me 2 + 8 = 10 GB storage (not sure how I got the extra 8GB) but I am only using 0.5 GB. However, there is a monthly 10GB bandwidth limit which I hit every now and then, when too many people visit this blog. After that, I believe the Photobucket pictures will be blocked from showing on this blog. That is the only reason why I am now using Flickr to store the newer pictures. I have no clue as to Flickr's storage and bandwidth limits, if any. Like I said, Flickr is rather confusing to me. P.S. October 2018 - Never trust these "free" cloud storage services. They entice you to upload all your pictures for free. Then after several years when all your photos are up there, they start asking you to pay or they will delete everything. First Microsoft's OneDrive. Now Photobucket. In protest, I refuse to give in So, if you do not see any of my pictures, it means Photobucket has blocked access. Just message me to let me know. Thanks.

This is not exactly renovation material but it is related to the process of documenting your renovations. Posting using Mobile These days, most of us have smart phones and no longer need to bring along a camera. But after taking the pictures, some of us still transfer the pictures to our computer, and then post from the computer. Actually, it is possible to do everything from your smart phone, and this is what I sometimes do. You can even include pictures in your post. Get an Image Hosting Account and Download their App You need to sign up with an image hosting account. There are plenty but I am using Photobucket and Flickr. Then you need to download their apps to your mobile phone. Someone also recommended Google+ but I could not figure out how to use it. Renotalk itself allows image hosting but the storage capacity appears to be paltry, is so difficult to use and so I just gave up. After Taking Picture, Upload Picture to Hosting Account You can upload the pictures using the App on your mobile. One very important tip is to be organised when you first set up your account. Do create Albums for each topic e.g. Renovations, Holidays etc. If you upload everything into one common basket, it will be difficult to locate your photos next time. Even if you upload to the wrong album, or to the root directory, you can still move the photos to the correct album. Here, I have to say that Photobucket is much easier to use. I find Flickr a bit confusing. Photobucket behaves like a image/video hosting site. Flickr behaves like social media site. Below you see my Albums on Photobucket followed by Flickr:
