YALE YDR323-G As mentioned in earlier post, to counter the issue of unsightly "add on" and "cover", we had went for the Yale YDR323. This lock is specially design to meet the needs of the metal gate, opening from inside the house is done via a remote control only. The remove range is pretty good, within 5-10m is not a problem. However since we are used to going to the gate to open it, we often forget to unlock the gate via the remote. It take a little of getting use to on this part but not a big issue. The remote comes with a wall mount, drilling may be required. Since we had decided to replace our gate, we have the design in mind to cater for the digital lock. That is, have a flat surface for the lock to sit on. Hence instead of the numerous grilles design, we have one with thicker frame. As seen from the picture above, frame is thick and wide, with ample area for the lock to be mounted on. This consideration is important, especially if you are installing both main door and gate with digital. Reason being that both lock do not hit each other when both door and gate are closed and also the main door lock is accessible from outside. Take a look at you own door and gate, especially for those having 2 ply type, it may pose a little challenge for some. TBC

I agree with kstoh. At the end of the day, we just want to get what we paid for and know whats going on. It's difficult cos we have limited knowledge of what needs to be done but we're investing a lot of money. Anyway, I did some scouting of my new aircon pipes. The copper was insulated with H class all the way. However the drainage pipe was insulate with a thin D class only. I questioned and got a rather patient and detailed reply which I shall cut and paste here for everyone's learning. "Good evening! Armaflex H-010 grade half inch insulation only use on all copper refrigeration pipe, no aircon man will use on drainage pipe, drainage pipe will use lower spec insulation. Its because 1. No required as drainage pipe is use for drain out cool water which is not as cool as refrigeration pipe 2. If use the same spec for both drainage and copper refrigeration pipe the minimum trucking size will be at least five by five inches 3. Industries practice for thinner spec for drainage pipe, Mitsubishi professor also meant it before when I taking good installation practice class at Mitsubishi building in last year July. 4. No issue happened before as we find it also no any needs to use a different spec as normal practice to make piping in longer term usage" My other interior design sources seem to be happy with this explanation. so i'll let it go.

Digital Lock for Gate. Digital Lock for gate is a challenge for most house owners as the standard HDB gate as no backing for the gate to mount on. Hence installers need to "add" on a piece of plate to gate for the digital lock to "sit" on. Also not all digital lock are suitable for gate mounting due to the fact the unlocking from inside is often on the digital lock itself. So that means people from outside can simply put their hands in behind the gate and reach for the lock to unlock it. To overcome this, installers often add a "cover" on the lock to encase the digital lock (referring to side inside the house). The "cover" will is padlock by a smaller lock. This is a easier solution compare to changing the complete gate. Picture below may offer a better understanding.

This is a Discussion Section, not Soliciting Business section. Please get it right. The "OLD" thread is about opinions of Company A and B. And you have nothing to contribute but bringing in Company C. Best of all, spamming the forum. Even my own contractor help me saved $10k from my reno, I also don't promote his service openly.

One of the big ticket items that was difficult to get was actually the correct bedframe. Most bedframes are PVC and standard colours however I wanted to stick with my colour schemes and give our MBR a softer look playing with shades of grey and oak wood. After visiting almost every bed showroom u can imagine the past 4-6 months including TilamKing, Poshbeds, all the big branded bed companies in the entire Singapore, we finally purchased a bedframe from Hommage (http://www.hommagelifestyle.com/) - thanks to renotalk buddies who shared their experience at hommage. Their pemimpin showroom is the place to go if you ask me compared to their thomson plaza outlet. The showroom is huge and carefully selected. As I wanted to choose my own fabric for the headboard and my customised design, Eric (the boss whom humbly claim he is not), shared with me his expertise over the decades on selecting the right bedframe. I wanted 100% german hydraulic system for storage to maximise space instead of china-made hydraulic system to last over time and finally got it a reasonable price. Eric told me if I could get the exact same one for lower than him, I could always come back to tell him because he is that confident his hand-made bedframe is good in terms of quality and design. I went over to their thomson branch to make payment yesterday and realised OCBC was offering 5% off which was awesome since the bedframe is a four digit figure. And finally, for those who are thinking of getting your bedframes from fortytwo.sg - they are really really dirt cheap and even though its stated its made of german hydraulic I suspect it is made-in-china non-lasting german hydraulic. After looking at the price, I've emailed them, commented on their FB page, PM-ed them on Facebook to ask if its China or authentic German hydraulic and they either never replied or deleted my comments. I believe in paying a little more for certain items that would last over time Here's an idea of how my bedframe looks like, except that the headboard is in squares instead of diagonals and in tweed grey colour
