Please forgive. My personal opinion. I don't think we are in the position to help Uncle with the project management on a freelance FOC basis. There are a number of reasons ba... 1) One or two people working extremely close together can manage better for Uncle. Cos they would have a bird's eye view of what is going on in every house and thus can plan for Uncle's work schedule better. Also if the areas are split up, the people managing will not know exactly how many homes are there in each area. 2) If we not paid... then what happens if there's an error? If Uncle hires someone proper with a salary, he can tick off the person and the person is paid and can be held responsible for the things he/she does. However if it's us, we still have our own work and cannot be expected to give 100% accurate work and be on call every hour of the day. As it is, people are calling Uncle from 8am - 11pm++... How many of us can handle those phonecalls and emails? And if we don't, then we aren't much help to Uncle. 3) Lastly, I don't know about you all... but I enjoy my status as a homeowner, purely Uncle's customer, and not his helper. To be honest... from dec, I have been getting PMs and comments which are nasty... saying that I want to be a freeloader to help Uncle get a lot of business and get more things from him FOC. It has been very hurting but I know that I mean nothing like that so I continue. I think by helping Uncle, future renovation customers might think that helpers of Uncle get something in return or some money for recommending him. It wouldn't help for his recommendations. I guess for many people who read our very real comments now they feel that they are getting a true-r picture of Uncle's work. I doubt they will feel as secure if we become Uncle's helpers. So it's much more beneficial to Uncle to get someone proper. In reality... Uncle has someone working for him, doing admin and clerical work. I've spoken to her before over cheque payments. Maybe it's time Uncle widen her job scope. I'll talk to Uncle on Monday regarding this issue. I spoke to him just now and I think he's very very tired... He needs his Sunday break to freshen up.

:rofl: Something just made me very happy... I have been getting missed calls from a number I don't recognise ALL WEEK... I returned calls a couple of times but no one answered. I can't carry my phone with me when I'm at work so I keep missing calls from this person... Today I finally answered the call successfully and I found out that it was one of Uncle Soon's men!! He has been calling me cos he needs me to sign some documents to arrange for the purchase of my recess!! And after all my apologies for not picking his call, he agreed to come by tomorrow (a Sunday) to get everything done... which means HDB can start processing next week! Whoopee!

Wah Aubrey I think your house will look super different by the time things are all done. I'm curious about one thing... Can see that the tiles on the left are tiled all the way to the floor.. so does that mean that the kitchen doesn't have skirting from the floor tiles? I never got to do kitchen wall tiles so I don't know.. just curious.

Completely agree. I'm worried for their health. Whenever I refer people I ask when and where their reno is.. and i note down. But I wonder if Uncle does that. I think he doesn't quite keep track of the number until the time is near.. lol He definitely needs a PA... someone to keep track of every house he's doing and report to him at the end of the day... and help him do his draft quotations.

haha Uncle actually want to earn enough then stop liao.. he said he old liao cannot run ard so much. Will ask him if he needs one. but not me la. I have someone in mind.

yup pasting drawings on walls help. For the electrical I not only pasted drawings, I drew on the wall where I wanted the points to be. I wrote S/S for single socket... D/S for double and SCV for TV points and P for phone.. hahaha When the electrician came he just asked me what they meant and he just did. Much easier, doing that during my own time instead of having to wait for the worker to come. Seems like you've really learnt to manage with Uncle's habits. Kudos to you.

hahah and I have email and have a fax machine at home wor... On top of that I know how to design simple website. LOL *talking as if it's going to be real* siao.

mm ya I think too dark will make the whole house too dark.. not good leh. House cannot be dark dark all the time....

mm Uncle not answering calls is because there are too many calls wor. He occasionally doesn't answer mine too (though he does call back) But when I was doing my reno there were times he didn't pick my calls and I get kan cheong also. After the final payment, Uncle made 4 trips to my house to do rectifications but they stretched over 2 months, and we didn't rush him cos it didn't really matter to us anyway... Would it help more if you left instructions in the house? mmm Although I came to the house everyday during the reno (I was free then) but I rem the only times I was really required was 1) tiles delivery and checking of tiles 2)electrician wants to know points 3) carpentry day and the day after that.... The other days were mostly days when my stuff were delivered and I scheduled those myself. mm I agree with guy77 on the drainage issue thing though. but if you don't want to stress about it.. then nvm.

Poor gaku. But I'm glad you still have faith in Uncle. That's good. I think those people who say "feng liang hua" like asking you to pay 1000 more to get an ID... should give you the 1000++ to do so. my opinion. I'm a rebellious kid. I do hope everything will be more smooth-going from now!
