  1. I don't know about overpriced.. but things like your homo tiles... they are $5/psf because they are very good quality ones or because they are 800X800? Hacking seems to be a little ex. Without size, like for kitchen entrance, balcony... I can't tell if they are ex. You're not doing anything to the kitchen and toilets?
  2. OH NO... my parents are also pushing me to do this.... i've stopped complaining about the weather cos every time I do, they tell me to install Air con... but it'll be so dusty and dirty!!! ... tell us how the process is ok? If your people aren't so bad, I might consider getting the same people.. mm
  3. YA! I think the most important thing to have during reno is MASKING TAPE AND MARKER!!!
  4. ilmare aiya we should all share good sources. I didn't think of the decal as an accident preventor. eh? I always see nice kettles in expensive designer places like those on Level 2 on Marina Square... park mall, etc. But I don't really check them out since my mom is used to using her cheapo silver one
  5. ... after hearing all this.. I really thank my lucky stars I was on block leave and my father is free to see to everything. In addition to that, he enjoys chatting with Jason and the workers. I think they entertain him more than he does for them.
  6. bb1976 hehe you'll have more people replying you if you start a new thread in the policies section. 1) You can use a combi of CPF and loans to pay for your new flat. If you have not used your subsidy yet (you didn't use on your 1st one) you can still use them now. 2) *I'm a kaypoh* I don't own an EM but overhauling one can cost between 30k to 50k. The huge difference is due to the condition of the flat you are buying and how many wants you have. Anyway with the economic situation now, I reckon you can find a flat in reasonable condition with zero COV. Since it's an EM, you will save a lot if... a) the flooring on both floors can be saved. (you can live with it) b) the staircase railing can be saved. c) the windows and grilles can be saved.
  7. mrspiglet YA! That's exactly the reason why I didn't want to have air-conditioning in my brother's room! I kept telling my mom that I want to wait for my brother to earn a living before he installs air con in his own room so that he can pay his own bills. I have this feeling that if he has air conditioning in his room he would be using it almost every day and certainly EVERY weekend when he comes home from camp. (NS). URGHHH I'll see if I can convince them. guy77 err putting fish next to the TV... then wouldn't the water be very warm all the time? well but then I don't know much about fish.
  8. Wow that's a lot of work done. Hacking will start tomorrow? Congrats!
  9. hahaha ok ok mine is 21ft bottom only. so yours is 42ft in total. then 5k+ is fine. yup I have this wavy problem. It's not very obvious so I'm ok with it. but I do think matt ones look more classic. But I'm not sure about the scratching part since I don't have any on mine.
  10. familyof4 whoa... do they bother with such things? mm I wonder how long she is going to continue. mm
  11. mrspiglet welcome! Anything to help. Ya I do hope gongkia can solve it too.. it's not nice to have to call Melvin in on this but if all else fails I don't see why you should accept a scratched table. WAH I missed... Hope to catch one of these shows soon.. I used to go to lots of these. No time now haha the way you say it makes the situation sound nice. hehe my parents want us to install air-con in my bro and my room. But I figured... that the compressor can (at max) take one more unit only. I have to check with the air con people. BUT at the end of the day it'll most prob be my sis or I paying... not sure if it's worth it since I don't turn on the air con at all. mmm We'll see what happens. on top of that I'm not sure if I can take the dust. Then mom suggested window unit... haiz messy messy.
  12. Wah then with your dad it'll be enough already!!! the "ruler" mrspiglet is talking about.. is this little water thing which you can place on top of paintings all that to see if they are slanted...
  13. preciousjam haha the "pointy heels" thing is quite true too. My dad wanted white foyer tiles but my mom and I said our huge NOs. The more I look at the common toilet tiles... the nicer they look... mm
  14. mm when I did my house we were so determined to have gloss white laminates... now... if I have the chance to rechoose I would choose matt ones. really. I think matt ones look more classic. Gloss ones (unless you go for the good quality ones) have this wave look. which I don't like. mm
  15. ahhh ok ok I have I have. 2 nunchuck thing for 2 controllers. haha and I replied with good news! hehe whooopee WAH I just realise.. better not let my sister see the mop/broom/ghost suggestion otherwise she might really try. mrspiglet will know what I mean. At my old place, we had shops on the ground floor and once when some renovation was going on downstairs at 2am, my sister SCREAMED downstairs for them to shut up. whaha. I think as long as she doesn't go past midnight i will bear with it. otherwise........ *knock knock*
  16. I don't know if it's true but recently after doing renovation I've been more sensitive to tiles and stuff.. I notice that the 800X800 that a lot of shopping centres use are popping and warping! mm mine is white wood finish also... and my 21ft is only $2000+ leh.
  17. ashes mmm I really haven't met the Malay and the Malaysian one... mm I agree on the last sentence. haha Prefer Uncle Soon so much more! haha
  18. see. So he hiring his own workers is really beneficial to us and him. I'm sure he earns. BUT things will be a little haywire until he gets reliable workers. I wonder if he'll be able to do that nice nice doorbell that Zonkkie has. haha
  19. mrspiglet btw i think your TV looks ok la. I PMed you melvin's HP number, in case you decide to call him. Just quote your invoice and tell him your problem. He will check it out and get back to you... I really think he's much better than May. OoOO you caught CATS? How was it???? Ya... I melting in the heat... urgh... thinking of giving in to my parents about the air con...
  20. mmm the sofa and coffee table is quite nice!! I hope the table gets changed though AIYOH the fridge with no handle is SOOOoOo obvious and they still dare to bring?! mrspiglet... i tell you leh, these few days it's been so hot, we're all thinking of installing air-cons in the rooms! DIE LA....
  21. haha some people want flats in older estates like Bedok to be near parents etc... I like LG for the convenience... don't you? hehe
  22. mrspiglet I think you talk to Melvin better. He seems more customer-oriented one. My TV console was slightly sinking in the centre (by 2mm according to my dad) and he made them change it too.. after much negotiation of course since it was so slight. So I'm sure if you walk to Melvin, it's possible. YAY Jason finished your rectifications!! Good for you!!
  23. I like the second one as it looks more modern. HOWEVER I think the first one seems more comfortable with the narrower seat and softer backing. heh
