  1. Aiyoyo, u dun like tad unaligned tiles, so he took initiative to hack n redo liao lor... The cabinets suppose to be there or only after tis incident then he propose cabinet to cover those tiles? There's no 100% in worksmanship de, Workers r also human wif feelings de ma... Sometimes will miscue abit de... (Even machine will also break down) Ur contractor also dun wish these unhappy things to happen also ma... Maybe his way of putting his apologise is in the wrong format of wad u expected. So long the thing is rectified w/o any outstandings, dun take it too hard la... The old chinese saying goes... ren yi shi, feng ping lang jin, tui yi bu, hai kuo tian kong...
  2. The heaters provided by citygas is actually same as gallon heater, the only diff is the energy source... 1 from gas while the other is from electricity...
  3. HDB don't bother abt these reno conflicts between owner n contractors... Its other organisations which associates with the governmentary boards does tad... I rem i heard of tis $500 auditor b4, but cant rem wad associations... Wad u mean by saying ur tiles not aligned? Wall tiles? FYI. All wall tiles r being laid using alignments of water leveling, regardless of horizontally or vertically. Cant take the floor as alignment bcs flooring at kitchen n toilets r in "running water level". Existing Ceiling is also not straight n level evenly... With tis, u should be able to comment ur contractor liao...
  4. I confirm its the tilers never mixed the powder evenly.... Wan redo the groutings? i'll say gd luck to ur ID... Easiest way, paint it...
  5. Hi Ami, to be frank, i not really sure of RADAC, but can approach CASE... (u should visit tis webby http://www.case.org.sg/ ) But i do encourage u to talk wif ur contractor, come to a decision... Give him ur exact requirements n date line for completion... If he's still being so un-cooperative, u might as well demand cash refund for those items which is undone lor. Lets do it with senses n the rightful way... Hold ur temper 1st... RELAX n smile...
  6. Did u try to get his upper hand, the boss?
  7. Wah, so bad terms aldy ar? From wad i know, there's a organisation who does these surveying jobs... They act as 3rd party to resolve matters between owners n contractors... I'll try to get the contacts for u... Maybe u can try tis? http://www.case.org.sg/ I wonder HBay or Radac can assist anot... (Sry ar, i never face tis senerio b4)
  8. I was quoted $100+ pfr on solid surfaces.. lousiest was (some weird name) U never mention the brand leh... How can i give u advice?
  9. To be frank here, No one uses instant heater for rain shower de... Not practical at all...
  10. Its very easy, engage another air con specialist to do a thorough check on the compressor + blowers... Ur air-con man ain't professional at all... (U should test the air-con as its usually in the "valuation" cost, who knows if tis had aldy happened b4 u took over...) I 100% agree wif ur electrician, bcs if its the wiring prob, the air-con sure cant on aldy...
  11. Did u visit the hardware shops at Balestier, jalan Besar, Geylang etc??? Try Tai Seng, @ Geylang lor 8 or 18(sry i 4got liao), Its near the traffic light, beside "wan dou sek" (selling dim sum)... They carry many brands of lock sets...
  12. wow, u getting keys on 21 nov and wan to complete b4 christmas??? Time frame only 1 mth wor... It might gonna be a "high price" for u wor... Still got hack here hack there, better dun be too rush... Things might turn out bad....
  13. Gd, somehow u're getting the idea... Negotiate wif him the reasons peacefully ar... Conflicts is bad bad bad...
  14. Insprizal Design was established for more than 10yrs... The personals there r all experienced contractors... Had maintain very low overheads, lesser ads n office maintenances etc... Their jobs r mostly referrers... The company itself isnt tad famous bcs they prefer low profile... High profile = High expenses Pricing is definately better bcs of the long term trust between the company n suppliers... Let alone the workers... They dun do "sales talking", only deliver works n services practically... They do have their home team of workers, tilers, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, general workers etc... Comes to designing, they aint those fancyful nor reconized designers.. But, they managed to deliver ur requirements practically... 3D or 2D drawings, jus ask, they'll deliver till up to ur expectations... The office is at B.merah... No official showflats (bcs so fake, wad u see there might not be the same to wad u gonna have, as showflats r done almost perfectly), they'll bring u to those recently done projects for viewing instead... Wah, tis been a long time ever since i write essays...
  15. Pal, i'm a contractor leh... I'm here to intro myself de... Intro to others ba... ^^
  16. Water consumption for rain shower is larger than normal 1s... Flow of water is faster also... Instant heater cant produce hot water after few mins of usage as its tank is too small to contain the right amount of water heated for rain showers... Rain shower dun use hot water better... Will have better feeling of raining... ^^ Shiok man... (Indirectly, at night water is cooler, like tis u will bath faster n save water also... )
  17. Only contractors can quote u tis price... e.g. Contractor buys product A from supplier = $x ID firm buys product A from supplier = [$x + (y% more)] Suppliers sell Product A more expensive to ID's bcs of the y% tad the firm wans for rebates for their company as funds... Tis is the usual practice for most ID firms as to substain their overheads... Not only solid surfacings, might apply to every fields... (ps. All fellow renovators who had seen tis, pls pardon me for being frank here ar...)
  18. Their polishing standard is low, can see lots blur blur patches on surface... Their joining lines r visible to me, means their in house fabricators not up to standard... I learnt it through my experiences... Its not common practice to get material from others.. But i practice it alot... ^^ Bcs i trust my own solid surface fabricator more... If u wanna change to Cresto wif ur $75pfr, its quite reasonable for u to switch...
  19. If he quote u abt <$65pfr for 3S, then is ok... But beware of 3S's worksmanship, 50% got problem. They r cheaper due to cheaper labour... Compare to 3S, Cresto will be a better choice... If u like the colours in 3S, maybe can ask Cresto to buy the material from 3S... (actually brands is only the company's name. Its jus the matter of wheres the origins of their matrerial... can be China, Malaysia, Indonesia etc... These companys import or buy from local solid surface sheets distributors, made the sheets they bought into catalogues, rent a factory for fabrications by employing mainly Banglahs, only Malaysians n locals as drivers cum installers... Therefore material wise is rarely the prob, most probs came from worksmanships...)
  20. lol, u should debate wif him... Y pay for the damage which he done indirectly??? Its better to have a gd meal urself than paying for this...
  21. Its pretty funny tad ur contractor doesn't have supreme's catalogue leh... Or the flooring is not in the contract? I believe Renozone is consider an ID firm, even its not in the contract, as part of services or in point of designers, he/she should assist u in material selections... (*Supreme is a big player in laminate flooring, can be easily found in all exhibitions)
  22. Hi Rossa, the best advise is here... 1) Appoint a contractor, get the contract wif ur BF's neccessary papers to ur desire bank. Just tell him go n apply, the bank consultant will definately assist u wif tis... The result will be known then... 2) U may try to visit those big local reno firms which allows reno installment plan by them... See wad they can do for u... (U need to do ur own accounting well b4 doing any commitments in loan...) Gd luck ar... (^^,)
  23. Wad u mention is true enuf...Never choose glossy ones.. With gd worksmanship, well taken care of by users, Postform worktop can last long... If all building materials can be used for life time, we contractors got notin to eat liao... (gei wo yi dian chi de ba) Since Pseudo izzit here, i'll be his KPO here... (^^,)
  24. Is there work done everyday? U should consult ur contractor why izzit so slow... Got manpower issue? But B4 any conclusion, u should visit ur flat every night to see any work done on tad specific day... Then u'll know if its slow anot... ^^ If he knows u r particular abt work done everyday, i think he'll "on the ball"... Tis tips is useful for all layman who's renovating their hse...
