  1. haha, it just remind me of someone, or should i say some agency.
  2. haha. i'm having fun now because it's completed haha. but now stress over the other piece...
  3. I like this quote. How true. I believe, people here just share their personal views on things which are nothing wrong but maybe holding too strong on their personal views. Since all the points are brought across, we all know what we want, be it to continue using him or not, that's up to the individual. Let's all move on and have fun renovating! (i know it's nv fun but still try to be bah )
  4. the eye-peep hole very easy one. ours was done on the very last day
  5. I think i have his contact somewhere. If you still can't find, let me know and i can pass to you tomorrow. knocking off now. Ciao
  6. I definitely agree with you. In fact, these are the things that were in my mind when i started my renovation. I also dun understand how come someone can dun get their license and stuff. Then again, i'm restricted by my budget. And according to my friend, working on renovation doesn't need a license. The license is only necessary for company working on the tiles and windows. If i'm not wrong, he sublet these works to other companies just like he did for his carpentry. But then again, that's what i think, which is not necessary true but i use to convince myself with I consider real hard before deciding if i'm going to go with him. All i can say is, if i was twice as rich then, he probably won't be my contractor. But when the house is complete, i have to say i'm rather satisfy with the work, without comprimising on the minimum standard of quality that i would expect. Afterall, my uncle and one of my close friend are contractors themselves and there's still some standards that i'm seeking.
  7. i read a post somewhere with this particular quote that captures my attention: "Trust us when i said, me and I believe marvin had think hard before posting what we wanted to say knowing the onslaught we will received. But we stand by what we say because I believe forumers should be mature enough to take criticisms, deflect criticisms, make logical sound rebuttals. With this believe, I will continue to contribute in whatever possible." In a way, i'm not sure if it's really mature to be saying things like this: "Ok listen everyone, according to mrspiglet this thread is meant for pple to ask abt renovations with Ah soon. So dont bring up anything else other than what mrspiglet said, okay? Cannot say anything else.....just can ask questions about renovations with Ah Soon and nothing else." Just think of this, when someone says something good about ah soon, there will be ppl disagreeing and rebutting. That's fair. But then again, there will be ppl who disagree with the rebutt and put further points across. I guess we are all human beings and are subjected to individual's opinion. Having a little 'heated' discussion might help to bring points across but if it's not being objective, there's no reason to continue the discussion. Finally, "Frankly i dont really undestand, life is so simple and things turn up to be so complicated. For those ppl have concern or worries, dont engage ah soon services. Choose yr own contractor and move on with yr life. For those whom still thinking of whether to engage ah soon, dont expect ID standard.", a sentence well said. Cheers

  13. I do agree with you that no renovation will be smooth sailing. The only way to have a smooth and perfect renovation is to do it yourself as only you yourself will know exactly what is the standard that you can accept. However, to do ourselves, we might not have the technical know-how or even time to do everything. Which is why we got to engage in contractors/IDs. With them, we would have to expect certain level of workmanship but always bear in mind that they won't be perfect or might not meet our standard of good workmanship. What's important would be that at the end of the day, when we feel that things have to be redone, they will not find excuses, shift blames or give a black face to do all rectification. I would feel that rectification shouldn't come with a cost if it's their misjudgement (of cos, if it's due to our own design problem, we would have to shoulder some of the blame.) Can see that your contractor/ID is going out of her way to help you and that even took certain level of initiative to think of solutions for you, without giving you problems as mentioned above. That to me, is GOOD SERVICES and definitely make your whole experience a much better one. Congrats!
