  1. Hihi amrasenelya, This feature wall look like carpentry to me. The surface should be laminates bah.. You can show this pic to Henry and ask him about it. Hee.. Edited: If you really like it and concern about the dust, you might want to modify abit and turn it into a display cabinet with full length clear glass infront. Should be quite nice and classy. Hee..

Thanks pet. Uploading some pics now. Thanks joseeng. I'll pm you.
  4. We went to the EDL at Sungei Kadut only. If I didn't remember wrong, we took the feeder bus from Woodland interchange and the bus dropped us just directly opposite the factory. Don't have to walk. Hee.. Thanks to XBB who taught us to take bus. Errr.. I mean laminating the feature wall, you know the one that is behind the tv console, not the false wall. If you are doing false wall (partition wall), I am not sure whether it can be laminate anot. Hee.. Umm.. I read that your guy is particular with fs. If so, I guess you guys will probably flush the wall as there is usually a horizontal beam protruding slightly out (horizontal) that will be above the bed boardhead. Hee.. usually a no-no for most fs follower.

Hihi Matchgirl, We got our aircon from Gain City. Hee.. we're very blessed to get a very nice chap during installation. I have blogged our aircon installation in the earlier pages or you may refer to the link below for the four posts on our aircon installation. I have also taken the pic of the material used (ie. the new pipes, insulator etc). Err.. no sight of any short/used insulator. All the stuffs are still in their packaging. We upgraded the insulators and pipings but I don't have the pricing off-hand. You can also check with gain city on the model that you are looking at and the additional cost of upgrading. We went to the Marina Sq branch and the sale assistant is very knowledge and helpful. I kept forgetting his name. Let me know if you need to have his name. It is good to have more quote to check prices out. For us, we think that its better to go for big names for aircon, incase of any issue, we can always go back for recourse. Hence, we didnt check out any other aircon supplier. That's our thinkings. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?s=...st&p=442515
  6. Hihi iluvbeans, Congrats! Er.. no pre-reno pics to share with us?

Hihi Poseidon, Thanks. Errr.. not really busy. We are still slacking around. By the way, Im also waiting to see your update pic with furnishing. I like all those furnitures that you got. Have been waiting to see them arranged in the nice nice plan.
  8. Hee.. thanks. Cause we're lazy bums.. so always looking for ways to reduce the maintenance. Now it become a habit, always look at the maintenance first. Hee.. I think we saw some laminates with design but flat and not glossy. You might want to check them out at the factory. They got alot of samples. About the wall behind the bed, you can 'laminate' it if you are doing a feature wall (to flush the beam) and you can get them to customise your bedside table with the feature wall. Another way to 'laminate' wall is to do wall paper. But Im not sure about the maintenance.

Hihi Jessy, Our kitchen sink is 790mm wide. We went to several place to look for it as most of the places do not have 790mm. Most of the single bowl are either only up til around 600 or 650mm or the really big ones like 850mm and wider. However, we do not recommend this shop that we got our sink from. Their service is quite bad. Thank god, we only bought 2-3 items from them (ie. our kitchen sink, tap & basket). On the day of delivery, hb was around to check the item. He noticed that the tap delivered look somehow different, so he compare it against the tap pic which we took on the date of purchase (luckily I like to take pics during purchase ). And yes, its a wrong one. He called up that sales assistant to inform them about the wrong tap. And guess what? The salegirl told him that if he want, he need to come down to the shop to see and EVEN if he go down, they also don't have the tap that he mention. What a reply. As the delivery uncle was still around, he checked on the pic and told hb that they do have this tap. He will go back to exchange the tap and bring back the right one. And true enough, he returned with the correct one. Phew! Its really our blessing to meet this delivery uncle else we probably going to have a hard time with that salegirl. With such experience, we don't think we want to recommend this shop to anyone. I'm sure you can find nicer sinks around and save the headache of dealing with such person.
  10. Hihi Armypig, Welcome!! And congrats on the start of your reno yesterday. Hope your reno goes smoothly throughout~!
  11. Hi Charemme, Gosh! I agreed with Angel, you might want to get those pest co. to come clean up the area and send the bill to the owners. Its not good for your health, esp. since you are recovering as roaches are quite dirty. Please take care.
  12. Good Morning Amrasenelya, Between the two, I prefer the first one also. But hor, if given a choice, I would prefer those laminates that are not texture. Hee.. cause I think dust/dirt are likely to rest on those 'pop' out area. Hee.. my personal perference.
  13. Hihi gantan88, Another forummer had used the Eubiq track for their kitchen. You might want to look at their pics. Their blog link is as follows: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?s=...st&p=461342
  14. My guess is... drainage issue. Or they hacked holes etc.. make a messy and then realised they cant run the pipes in that manner or refused to patch back the holes. hee.. just wild guess. Hopefully all is well now.
  15. Hihi Ossify, Do you have other lights beside the light from the ceiling fan? Er.. just to share our experience, we noticed that the lights attached with fan are not very bright even when we have used the white light. Luckily, we have another light to support the area. You might want to check out on this. And for your kitchen layout, you might want to re-look at the worktop space. I thought its quite tight to work with, esp. after placing some of the electronic gadget on the top, eg. rice cooker, water boiler etc. By the way, didn't see the glass doors in the earlier layout plan. What are you going to do with the area behind the red sofa?

Updates on Main Entrance: Continue from above.. Ok~ these are the pics of my main entrance. We relocated our electricity meter box from the recess area to outside of the unit. The box now sit nicely near the stairs. Hee.. The electrician managed to tidy up the wiring, both inside and those coming out from the unit. The only thing about this is.. they spoilt the knob of the box cover (of the yellow box at the top right corner), so the cover cannot stay closed. End up, they temporary close the box using something (i don't know cause hb was the one liaising on electricity). We are easy on this as we doubt we need to use the box. Had never touch this box for the past 2 yrs. Oh ya.. our contractor also get his painter to paint the exterior of our unit because we built up the wall. They also look for a paint that is close to the colour on those HDB walls outside. Hee.. give our unit a clean clean look on the outside. This is the gap inbetween the main door and the gate. Hee.. quite nice to have it. We just have the block washing, the lower part of the wooden door still caught some water, but we think it will be worse if we didnt have the gap. Hee.. Hee.. Welcome to our home~ This is how our apartment look like from outside when we leave our door open. Hee.. feel like going home now.
  17. Hihi Momo13, We got the same Rinnai Hob and Samsung Washer. Hee.. Er... but over the weekends, we realised that there's water leakage from the washer during rinsing. Think the service man will be coming down today to check on it. Hopefully all is well.
  18. Hihi, I am back with the reviews. Er... both hb and I think that if given a 2nd chance, we will go for other window contractor instead of wellmax. The sale pitch by Eric is very good, gave us the feel that he really know his stuff. But the follow-up service after that was quite bad. As we changed all the windows, we need to install the kitchen and toilets windows after the hacking is done so that our tiler can tile the area nicely. We had told Eric in advance on the dates, reminded him to apply for permit and hb even give him several reminders. But they never turn up on the dates that they promised for installation, dismantling etc. I could still remember that we were at Jln Besar shopping for our sanitary stuff when the office called hb and told us to rush back as his workers are there to dismantle the existing window grills. We got to rush back as its the Xth time that they didn't show on their promised date and we need the grills down so that the plastering can take place for the rooms. After the installation of the windows at the rooms, we found that the window panel alignment is really off for all the windows. Usually when we pull the windows together, the panels will interlock together and the turning knob lock will be in place for the user to turn. For wellmax window, the window panels doesn't interlock properly when you pull them together, you need to really aligned them properly inorder to turn the knob to lock. Both of us thought that this is really not right, we went to check on the windows at my parents'. The windows panels will interlock and turning the knob is a breeze, unlike the ones that we JUST install. Hb had to phone Eric to check on this and he told us its normal practise to install the windows in this manner. If we really insist, they can install the rubber for us which is an additional job/service. Of course we wanted the rubber, and true enough, the windows panels can interlock better with the rubber, though still not 100% perfect. Our windows at the balcony is also 'slanted'.... meaning from groundlevel, when we look up, we can see that all the windows of our neighbour sit parallel to the ledge, ours is like 1 corner tiled towards the inside. We just closed 1 eye on it, so long as the windows doesn't drop out. sigh... Hb is also unhappy about the installation of the grills. The gap between the walls (top, bottom, left right) and the frame of the grills is quite big. I wasn't around for the installation and one of the gap that hb show me... we can even see the outside through the window through the gap. I almost fainted. There are some other issues, but I didnt want to go to the details. The most irritating issue is.. Eric went MIA for weeks in the midst of our issues with the windows. Infact, its quite hard to get him before he MIA as he hardly respond to hb's sms and call. We are quite pissed as some of the issues need to be resolve before we can move on to other stages of the reno. We also have some water seepage issue that need to handle fast as we are afraid that our newly plastered wall will pop. Its only when he went MIA that we realised, it seems like we have no way to get him except to call his mobile as we have never go to the shop/factory before. Anyway, he re-appeared suddenly with the reason 'MC for the past few weeks' and informed us to make payment. We are not sure if its true but we thought the least he could do is to pass our case to his colleague. We are both glad that our reno is completed and if there's another chance of renovating another apartment, we will go for other window contractors.

Updates on Main Entrance: Hee.. finally got some time to pack up the entrance area and remove those boxes at the entrance area. So.... recalling back, after the new main gate was installed and 'wrapped up' proper, Henry instruct his guys to dismantle the old gate, quickly plaster the dismantled area and tile the remaining few tiles which they are waiting for the old gate to be remove. Henry also advised us to install our main door lock at the last part as he didnt want to risk any worker damaging/ dirting it. Hee.. we also feel likewise, hence our main door lock was only install after all our electronic stuff are delivered and none of the worker or Henry have the password to it. Hee.. we kinda of took over the house before the actual handover. Ok~ Here's the pics... These are the two new marble tiles at the old gate. The old ones got to be replaced as there's a hole on them for the old gate to be 'poke' into. The new marble skirting for wall of the old gate. At this point, the tiles are the recess area are actually all done up. Hence, the workers cover them up with cardboard to protect them before working on the old gate area. The wall plastering of the area where the old gate was. Ok~ Here's the completed pics.. The nicely plastered wall at the entrance. Hee.. so nicely done up that it leave totally no trail of the old gate.
  21. Hihi J&G, Read that your wok and pans are from Meyer & WMF, have you tried them? Are they good? We're also getting our pots & pans, but no idea which are better brands around. Hee.. do share your experience. TY!
  22. Hi Forkie, Nice to see you back. Hee.. I like your live-in pics. We haven't really bought thouse household stuff. Where did you get your pots & pans from? Any particular brands to reco? By the way, what are those minor outstanding items?
  23. Hi Sgp, Welcome! Will you be hacking any walls / changing the layout? And do you have any plan for the living? I think the common option for the dining area is left side of the living area (if you don't intend to put the dining in the kitchen). If you're ok with smaller kitchen, you can consider spilting half of the kitchen to be dining. But my personal preference is to have dining with living.
  24. Hihi upnorth, Welcome! Your house is big~ The layout look abit like jumbo flat. Hee.. Looking forward to the transformation.
  25. Hihi Amrasenelya, Do you have a pic of that funny beam? How low is it? Pretty hard to imagine. You have seen my place, my mbr also got a weird beam at the mbr that cut inbetween just on top my bed position, but dropdown only 4inches unlike the normal beams of 13-15" dropdown. We asked Henry to do a false ceiling to hide that weird structure. Er... you might also want to consider the curtain in the measurement and whether to have curtain just to cover the window length or all the way to the wall behind the bed. I just look at my office ruler, 20cm is very short. Bedside table of 20cm width, seems too short to be useful. If the distance/allowance between the bed and the back of the wardrobe is 20cm, i feel that it might be too tight. My personal view.
