  1. haha really FOC? i guess if its non exploiting, shd hv good grounds for appeal...if caught
  2. the new loan ruling could also b the reason...40% dp for 2nd mortgage.
  3. this is a very good aircon...vibration is not norm as the ones in my parents pl is very quiet...anyw compared to previous fujitsu, elect bills almost halved.
  4. act mine also peeling...big time..the only different thing i did was use the autoglym leather seats cream to maintain it and the peeling started like nobody's business....im not sure if its entirely due to the autoglym but tats simply the only thing diff i did to it.
  5. frankly there are alot more...i thk u, me, your colleague prob knows someone doing this haha
  6. yes i agree its really not easy. the most diff is the psychological barrier. the things we take for granted as employees such as rental, furniture, even the aircon now needs to come fr your own pocket.
  7. maroon5, lady gaga, craig david (esp) gets my hts pumping. black eyed peas are cliche but great for testing bass. for slow jazzy wine sessions, it goes to michael buble, Fang Da Tong (hk singer) and alicia keyes (esp).
  8. i see...anyw lets give it few days...next weekend i can update the results. on the bottle, it act wrote "kills at the roots" or something.
  9. hmm i din even thk so far for my laminate. i chose firmafloor, quite cheap. 2 years and counting, not a single issue and stil looks beautiful. no popup, no uneven, bla bla. and i dun thk more maint compared to my homogeneous in the living room. jus mop all together but for laminates, i use the laminate floor cleaner from NTUC.
  10. i read this thread because my shoe cabinet has this problem. wife put mothballs thinking it would solve but nope. it stil grew and looked **** gross. thats when i totally agreed with the roots alr in the wood. i found a Mr Muscle "Stain and Mould Killer" and have sprayed onto them. lets see if it works aft these few days.
  11. i hv stayed in HK Island and kowloon 3 times. frankly i stil like kowloon for the "liveliness". i last went during CNY and stayed at Butterfly at Prat. its in Tsim sha Tsui. 5 mins to MTR n Nathan road. u can consider. its new, clean and nice.
  12. u dun hap to b living in tampines rite? anyw i also made a report to town council last week due to leaking toilet ceiling. i thk the problem has been some mths alr, at first only paint flakes dropped onto the floor but last week, one chunk of ceiling fell off and we knew we had to make the call alr cos its getting serious. even tho i alr knew i may likely hv to pay some part of the repair...
  13. this was what we did for our first HK trip: Day 1: Nathan Road shopping during the day, Avenue of Stars, Temple Street, Garden Street, Mong Kok at night (opens all the way to past midnight). Day 2: Repulse Bay, Stanley, Ocean Park day and Peak night. Day 3: Big Buddha + DisneyLand (catch the 3pm parade and stay for the 8pm fireworks). Day 4: Suggest u do your macau day trip. Day 5: Free & Easy at HK Island, Causeway Bay or visit some branded goods factory outlets. i especially like Ocean Park, esp the cable car across the south china sea.
  14. depends on biz n good preparation on the above u mentioned, 100k is good enough...ironically 100k may not b enuff for good chicken rice, F&B restaurants. in my case, planning a distribution model, the good leadtime fr the suppliers helps, capital is less than that.

    In A Dilemma

in terms of security, i guess age is also a factor. if u r in early 30s i guess u will stil b marketable so not much issues. u shd also check this 2 yrs contract, does it allow u to resign in the middle of it? my first job was also 1 yr contract w a US firm but they were really tight w headcount etc so i did not get the extension and had to leave but i was young then and could find a job easily.
  16. frankly 100k, i would go do biz. our sgd is strong, go walk ard our neighbour countries see if can bring things back to sell. aft working 10yrs, i kinda burnt out and sick of corporate life. in fact, im prob going to do it myself aft getting bonus.
  17. i guess can approach fr another angle ie. how much one intends to save. eg. if one draws 5k and seeks to save 1k, then 4k is avail for use, be it household, car, luxury etc. so it doesnt matter if ur colleague drives a better car than u, u simply chose to save more than him. just a matter of choice la

    In A Dilemma

is this new co big, reputed? if so, it shd look good on ur CV even tho they dun convert u aft 2 yrs. but if it is a small time firm, and you are worried abt security, pass it.
  19. Bond is secure but trust/fund sucks. technically ur fund needs to make more than wat u pay the fund mgr team to enjoy any net gain.
  20. i would say yes. im 35 this yr and prob been thru those period. like when jus graduated, my pay was 2-2.7k for first 4 yrs of working life, one hardly has savings, considering study loans, weekend parties, car exp, savings was the last thing on my mind since its stil a long working life ahead. but tat all changed when buying house, getting married etc.
  21. the guy is earning 7.8k at 26yrs old...tats very good wat.
  22. i thk gui ren needs to be someone that has more impact in one's life. yes, it could b boss who mentor u and willing to bring u up or even an able assistant who give u the support to claim your credit. i guess at the end of the day, gui ren has to be someone alot more significant in one's life. like a fren of mine really met his gui ren. he was ex-army regular, started n failed 2 biz and on the verge of unable to pay bills, his gui ren appeared. offered him a job to look aft his biz, mentor him, upgrade him, expose him to higher level society. 3+yrs later, this gui ren gave him a business and a car - a bmw. im very happy for him.
  23. i thk for me the BEST wanton mee is the one at dunman food court. i hv ate it for more than 15yrs.
