  1. Day 30 (continued): Glass door for passageway bar counter.. to be secured to floor shoe cabinet.. to be mounted
  2. Day 30: Carpentry in progress not much to show as whole place is very dusty and lighting is poor by the time I arrive after work lights arrived.. finally, I can take shots of the site progress at night from tomorrow Blanco sink and rain shower set from Hoe Kee Glass partition in MBR toilet is up.. both toilets are really way too cramped.. my biggest peeve about the unit..
  3. Hi, Sky made my final shortlist of 2 but I chose my other option in the end Unfortunately, i doubt the things you want done can be within 30K I did less and needed almost 40K
  4. for ingredients, try phoon huat for hardware (not the machines though), try Tott store
  5. erm.. i'm sorry i'm not versed in paint colours and type but i do know that it is not easy to apply an even coat given some parts of the pole will be hard to access now that it is in position moreover, if i am correct, most people change colours on metallic surfaces by spraying (or powder coating) if you hand painted, it will probably chip off fairly easily i am doing floor track for my wardrobe sliding door and my carpenter says floor track cannot be coloured to match the door as it peels very easily think it is same reason why i see all the window grills installed in my estate so far are aluminium in colour may not match wall colours but i guess most home owners accept it mine will remain in aluminium colour as well
  6. i've been looking at digital locks the past 2 days as well found this local vendor http://www.interlock.com.sg/ am unsure on reliability since I have not come across anyone who has had experience with them i might try them out with the Samsung entry model would like to ask a question which lock allows for use of key only OR PIN only?? i.e. in the event of low batt or if my parents want to use the conventional key for entry, which model allows for such a function? I know Kwikset has such a lock but it costs almost $1,000 including installation
  7. I actually think it looks fine as it is.. aluminium colour right? I think it will be very difficult to paint it evenly now that it has been installed It would have been good had the paint been applied and dried before installation
  8. Day 28 (I think): Final touch up of tiling works completed and first wash done Carpentry and glass works commence from tomorrow!! First up will be kitchen cabinets View from main entrance View of main entrance MBR wardrobe position View into kitchen (pardon poor lighting.. evening shot)
  9. what is the total price? if it is $2K versus $3K, then perhaps ready made is better but if it is $5K versus $6K, i might go for customized carpentry since it offers more specific colours and dimensions
  10. Hi Affordable Luxury, do you have something similar to kwikset? http://www.gokeyless.com/product.php?id=440 i.e. one that uses PIN only in event of low batt or forgot PIN, door can still be opened using the key
  11. i think it conceals some pipes (those on top right of 2nd photo run into the wall) could be drainage think HDB left the opening for ease of future servicing if the need arises i have it too in the kitchen
  12. Tott store is good very wide range they are actually related to Sia Huat
  13. Dining Table & Chairs (LAST ITEM TO COMPLETE OUR FURNISHINGS... at last ) Table Chair Finally.. after weeks of searching from Species to Winter International to Star Furniture to Lorenzo... XZQT was still the best choice.. however the price was NOT.. Settled with this table that immediately caught our eyes on our first visit to Comfort Design very reasonable pricing and a wide selection of chairs biggest collection I can ever recall
  14. Day 16 (still tiling works): Tiling works in MBR Tiling works at Foyer Tiles insufficient!! hopefully replenishment can arrive tomorrow so that tiling works can be completed Friday as scheduled
  15. for TV, fridge, washing machine.. the price can only go 1 way... DOWN so the later you buy, the better there are numerous fairs and IT shows every year and almost every single one will sell TVs however, I cannot recall the last time any of these fairs were "genuinely" cheaper I can only recall the Philips Carnival sale and Harvey Norman warehouse sale at Benoi that had REAL deals i.e. some items are now retailing at a price HIGHER than these 2 fairs
  16. it's $2,500 but only half leather though the best buy is actually the Mourinho at only $1,799 for full leather i could not buy that because it was too long at 2.7 metres the Mourinho looks much better, is full leather and cheaper i think it is a very good buy
  17. CityGas merely run the gas pipes the plumber will run the water pipes at a later stage
  18. PD Door need some advice on this went to Balestier branch about 2 weeks back prices range from $299 (before GST) for the most basic acrylic model to $399 for the glass model was told prices apply up to 900mm and top up required for entrances wider than that as more materials required went to Eunos outlet today (apparently they supply the doors for Balestier to retail) prices quoted were the same however, ONLY apply to widths up to 800mm for width above 800mm to 900mm, price is $449 before GST but can choose glass so hope to hear if anyone has anything good to say about this for reference, a similar bi-fold door is $180 before GST inclusive of installation
  19. Day 13 (continued): CityGas pipes laid today taking the CityGas promo of heater + dryer combo
  20. Day 13 (today): Tiling works began.. estimated to take whole week My wife counted 55 tiles laid today...
  21. tiling works currently in progress.. think will take the whole week btw, if you are looking for kettle, steamer, etc; not too sure if a trip to Everjoint is worth the trip they are competitive for large ticket items like fridges, TVs, ovens because I presume the margins are high for items like kettle and such, i doubt the price difference will be more than $10 so you may want to wait for fairs like Megatex, etc; where such items can go at very special prices or go for "purchase with purchase" schemes Courts currently having some purchase with purchase promo and I think you can get these items for $1 the downside is you need to find someone who intend to shop at Courts
  22. maybe it would be better if you share which items you are looking for Everjoint has the cheapest quote for the items i checked and that was just via phone apparently, the price can go lower when you want to confirm purchase when you go down the downside is only cash payment Everjoint Electrical Trading 159 Ang Mo Kio Ave 4 #01-534 6458 2531 as for Mega Discount, the sales staff run individual sales targets so they can cross sell you across their entire range (i.e. you can buy TV, washer, oven all from same person; the more items, the better to negotiate) you can even provide the lowest quote you got and ask them to match (though some of them may not match) i did not take from them as different sales person within the same store recommended me different items (a clear indication that certain brands paid more commissions) so i did not get the feeling that they were recommending in my interest
  23. just to share.. went to PD Door at Eunos earlier the PD door at $299 is just the basic acrylic one and subjected to GST GST is waived should you make full payment upfront however, this price applies ONLY to door areas NO WIDER than 800mm so if yours is a new flat, chances are it is wider so as to facilitate wheelchair movement the indicative price for a door 900mm wide is $449 (can choose acrylic or glass)
  24. Day 9 & 10 (16th, 17th Dec): Kitchen cabinet base done; pending overlay tiles Service yard wall tiles (half height) done
  25. Day 8 (continued): Mountains of sand (in living room and bedrooms) for tile works Floor tiles Living and Bedroom tiles Kitchen tiles (to be overlaid) Tiling works should take slightly over a week
