  1. My friend's sister ever engaged some cheap $500 painting service from the Straits Times. It was a man who picked up her call and he told her that it would be 2 experienced men doing the painting for her. Guess what? The ones who turned up on the actual day, were two 18-year-old china ladies with no prior painting experience. You can imagine the outcome of the painting job.
  2. What for go challenge and provoke your seller? It's not worth it. Before your resale app is approved (usually approved 1 week after 1st appt), your seller can back out of the deal without your consent. And HDB doesn't entertain complaints of such cases.
  3. Some people laughing to the bank are bankers, lawyers, contractors, agents, and of course not forgetting our dear govt who are collecting lots of stamp fees from the HDB sales.
  4. I'm quite confident that my hb and I are cleaner than my tenants hehe. We mop whole house 1-2 times weekly. My tenants haven't mopped their rooms at all for 3 months! Can you imagine our living room floor will make our feet soles black although we just mop the living room floor 1 day ago? 1 of them also don't flush the toilet bowl sometimes after her "big business" yucks. I feel like asking them to move out but that will mean 1 month loss of rental income for us. Old newspapers must be thrown away leh. Worms will breed once they rot.
  5. If rent out room, owner must also learn to close 1 eye. Tenants will sometimes forget to off lights, off tap, and sometimes dirty the areas etc.
  6. Therat is right. Aiyo you didn't lugi lah. 40K grant ONLY applies to first-timers buying hdb from resale market n stay near parents. Somemore, I think you are very lucky to get a ready-built unit from hdb n don't have to pay cash for high COV! So many of us, including myself and friends tried 2 years+ for balance flat ballotings but failed to get a unit lor.
  7. Yes. You got to wait 5 years. I got to wait 7 years (2 years for BTO, follow by 5 years MOP). That's the price we have to pay for getting 'subsidised housing'.
  8. Flats from HDB balance sale exercises require MOP of 5 years. I guess you can only buy private property after 5 years.
  9. News: PM said that there would be at least 100, 000 more foreigners in Singapore this year. http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_553719.html With this, demand for HDBs is unlikely to ease in the short run.
  10. I think the victims of such seller plot should combine forces and write to the ST Forum or other newspapers to gather the attention of HDB. The buyers have no way of knowing whether the sellers are backing out of the deals and confiscating the 5K deposits. More buyers will get cheated in future.
  11. Just to add on 1 point. What if the seller doesn't honour his words to sell the unit to you after his new valuation is out? The seller may get greedy and wants to sell it at a higher price to other buyer. Your previous OTP contract has already expired by then, so you can only sadly watch your deal disappear in smoke???
  12. I love lemongrass smell too. Where can we buy this product in Singapore? Does NTUC carry it?
  13. I think there's no minimum charge for citygas. My citygas bills for past 2 months were only 80 cents/month . I cook 1 dish every week.
  14. HDB has this Sale Proceeds Calculator. It helps you estimate how much cash you get from the sale. http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10297p.nsf/Im...oceedHDBDiv.htm
  15. Morale of the story: Do not sign exclusive contract with agents?
  16. Is the other sale transaction (from your ready buyer) closed within that 3-month period while that agent was your exclusive agent?
  17. It's hard to generalise which type of unit will be the most wanted. Different families have different needs and budgets at different stages of life. E.g. young couples with kids may want to upgrade to bigger flat, while retired couples may want to downgrade to smaller flat. Of course if budget permits, all of us will want a big big penthouse overlooking the beautiful sea haha!
  18. There's statistics available from HDB site that shows the most transactions for 4-room units.
  19. Go to http://www.hdb.gov.sg/ Login to My HDBPage there. There's a link there for you to submit your room subletting + tenant details to HDB. No need to make a trip to HDB Hub personally.
  20. It's hardwarezone forum. I can't remember the exact link She just said she viewed it a few weeks ago, she didn't say the exact date of viewing. She didn't place deposit for that unit. You can try posting the address on multiple forums and see if others will reply you.
  21. Sorry I have already deleted her PM from mymailbox last week.
