Plastering Of Ceiling Question
SolutionProvider replied to Caireann's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
Plastering consist of cement, sand and water. The thickness of plater is 5 mm or more. Skimming consist only powder mix with water and is like a flour mix. The thickness is not more than 2mm. The weight of a plaster is much more heavy than skim coat, if not done correctly, the plaster will fall off from the ceiling. -
It is possible to lay with a minimun gap size. Using epoxy or marble glue to fill the gaps is good but when dollar and cent is involved, I don't think the contractor will use epoxy. The price of epoxy material and labour cost to fill the gaps is very expensive unless the contractor have already cost in the quotation. A normal colour grout powder is only abt $30 for 20 kg and for epoxy is abt $30 for 3kg. Priceing you can check with hardware shop or even adhesive manufacturer such as Mapei. Is good that the contractor told you this solution but I don't think he tell you about price for using epoxy.

Steps About Overlaying Tiles?
SolutionProvider replied to Marcus168's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
I hv never seen before that the adhesive can be paint coz the adhesive is mix from liquid and prepacked powder adhesive till it is paste form and there is no way that the worker can paint. Regrads to the good tile adhesive, I would strongly recommend Mapei Adhesive. If contractor are using W1, please ask them to provide a test report by the manufacturer on the strenght for tiling. I saw b4 the tiles hollow after the contractors did the tiling job. You can check out the website : http://www.mapei.com They are specialist in tile adhesive. -

Is Homogenous Tles Porcelain Tiles?
SolutionProvider replied to enivi's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Hi there, I have confirmed with the specialist that your tile is homogenous. -
Usually there will be a different of 1 - 2 mm in the gaps because they are cut from a big slab and due to the vibration when they are cutting, the dimension will be off a bit. But before the contractor laying the marbles, usually they need to do a dry lay on the floor first meaning, they need to arrange all the marbles on the floor first to sort out the different sizes.

Plastering Of Ceiling Question
SolutionProvider replied to Caireann's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
Plastering is not allow for HDB ceiling, but you can go for skimming. Skimming is a applying a very thin layer of finishes on to the ceiling to make it more even. but the existing paint must be remove before application. -
Hi Lucy, is the work done half way?
