  1. Installation of windows, if it meant that the balcony can be closed up, is a definite no no.
  2. Water Feature bought from Island Group. Square base (90cm*90cm) with cascading tall waterfall feature (1.55m). 3 standalone lights around the fountain; a pair of water sprouts and a water filtration system. Small stones (bucketful to cover the bottom of feature) available. Bought entire set >$2k (can check with Island Group - Rafik). Letting it go at $1k (C&C). Please call/text EP @ 9337 3008 for more details or pictures. My link My link
  3. @ nimm12: Would love to at THAT moment, but I will be as guilty and inconsiderate. @ bepgof: Thanks for the advice. I am part of the MC and have previously highlighted this to the MA. While he has toned down on the activities, it still happens once in a while. Being in a small development and as a direct neighbour, I would refrain from doing something which might not have produce immediate favourable outcome. That said, I think the by-laws are good. Only problem is have to go through an AGM or EOGM but I will make sure that it is proposed!
  4. Very interesting read and thanks bepgof. Sorry to OT here but does anyone have guidelines re bbq restriction on balcony?
  5. It is probably not in compliance. I had a similar case at my development where a glassed structure was built and was deemed to violate BCA's ruling following discussion with the managing agent and committee. This is more so as it is a fixed structure which obviously increase the built-in area, regardless the kind intentions of the owner to serve a noble purpose. Even if it passes your local management committee's test, neighbours would still be able to highlight that for BCA's inspections. My advise is not to construct the fixed structure but you can always built a "floating canopy" to house your plants supported by movable beams. This would be similar to what you see at most nurseries. This would also facilitate your purpose in nuturing your green fingers!
  6. Perhaps I can get advice from the forumers. To what extent can the law be enforced on: 1) BBQ using kerosene in the balcony area. 2) Late-night partying (past midnight), revellers jumping into the pool with beer cans etc. Because there is no security guards and the managing agent cannot be asked to come down every night to "warn" them, how can other residents take action?
  7. Don't think this is unique to HDB. I have a ground floor neighbour in a rather classy area who likes to BBQ. And he starts the fire with kerosene (which is a rather common practice in the UK) which engulfs the estate with the smell of fumes.
  8. Try Rafik from Island Group. The company supply plants and indoor features and he is pretty responsive and good with the recommendation. I can show you what he did for my balcony if you are keen.
  9. Have you tried Island Group? Wide range of choices with good after-sales.
  10. I had the same issue except that I had two sets. Curtain at the living room, blinds at balcony. Looks really odd and now I'm thinking of removing the living's.
  11. Was indeed in UK for a number of years and was always using Ariel gel (think the purple cover). Can't seem to be able to find it in Singapore, so switched to Dynamo not knowing the devastating impact! The range of washing detergents in UK is simply amazing!
  12. It does spoil the machine. I used dynamo on the EWN14991 washer for about 3 weeks and the drum collapses! Funny thing is that Electrolux sent me the washer along with Persil detergent but didn't tell me that I have to use low suds. Anyone here can recommend low suds detergent for infant wash?
  13. I don't meant to be rude but sometimes one doesn't have to open his/her mouth to show that he/she is not mute.
  14. I agree with that too. Very prompt and professional with the design and implementation. Always suggesting alternatives so that me and my wife can make informed decisions. She also provided info on my house reno, things to look out for and how the curtains should complement.
  15. Felt a little silly after reading all these posts. Not sure if I got the right deal having bought King Koil Imperial Comfort - Renaissance for >$4k at Robinsons! Felt very comfortable with the plush pad and firmness. Slept on a couple of Simmons and Sealy but thought KK felt most comfortable. Kenna chop already?
  16. I would like to have Mr Chew's contact too. Please PM me. Thanks.
  17. Brilliant work! Can I ask about the wall just behind the owner - are those bricks or decorative tiles? It is very nice. I have a plain wall in my balcony (1M*2.8M) and would like to have those tiles. I have a rather new condo which I would like to do minimal work. I have wall cabinets (done by the previous owner) which I would like to remove and install a plain mirror wall. That wall is about (2M*2.8M) Can you PM me the quote for both? Sorry that if you only do major work.
  18. Does anyone have a good vendor to recommend for auto blinds?
