  8. Hi, Topspin, You mentioned "Borax Powder" ie mix it with water to wipe the cabinets etc... Is this "Borax Powder" the same as 20 Mule Team Borax Powder?? Thanks in advance .... You cannot buy borax powder in Singapore as they are controlled to prevent food manufacturers adding it to the food like noddles and dumpling illegally. I buy them from US websites instead. Don't cost much.

  22. Juz to share :- For my case, I borrowed 172K (to be paid over a period of 30yrs) from HDB in Oct 2010. They started deducting from my OA Feb/Mar this year ($693 per mth). I did a lump sum prepayment from my OA ($6700).. My VL (as of Aug 2011) left $159k (should last me for 19 years) only... I am not good with all these calculations, but the way, I interpreted that HDB is only lending me the amount for paying for the flat... I have to fork out hard cash for the interest rate (2.6% of loan amt/30 years)... Headache ! Headache !
  23. Good info.... I bought a resale 3 room flat last year (under single scheme)... Did a lump sum prepayment out of my OA, one month ago... HDB informed me when I did the lump sum prepayment, that the balance of the valuation Limit can last me until the 19th year (from the Valuation Limit)... Ie from 20th-30th years, I need to fork out hard cash every month... Lucky for me, I get to know this "Valuation Limit" early, so got to start saving or renting out spare room soon... Please go check with HDB and plan your finances early... We might earn an good income now, but whatabout when we reach 55 onwards??
  24. For my case, there were wet patches seen near the ceiling in the common toilet and the kitchen pipe.. The HDB officer came to take a look.. Less than 3 weeks later, I received a letter from HDB, to authorise the repair and in my case, inform me of the estimation cost.. HDB will pay 50%, my neighour on top of my unit and I 25% each... My flat is a 3NG.. The cost (in my case, the common toilet) is estimated to be $800 and I am supposed to pay $200 (maximum)... I replied them last month and I have not moved into my house yet, so I am not sure, if they have started the reno yet or not...
