  7. Hi EMSOS like ymjp, I like your nick haha! My advice - have buffers for budget and completion date. Doesn't really matter ID or contractor, but trust and communication is priceless. Good luck, looking forward to seeing the pictures!

  11. stay strong potatoes! the last bits are always the hardest. I remember that my wife was very spirited during the initial stages but halfway through she just wanted everything to end as quickly as possible! glad to hear at least some rectifications were able to be made. your story about your ID and the grilles is a timely reminder how much owners need to get involved in the reno...or at least find someone they can trust! jia yo will await the final product of all your efforts, I'm sure it'll turn out great

  13. Interesting layout! Would be eager to know what you plan to do with the space
  14. hi bro, i just fixed my own. It's very easy actually - there's a trick to it. 1. Poke your finger up into the water outlet of the tap and push the plug head up 2. while holding the plug head up with your finger, just use your other hand to screw in the head tightly 3. release and you are done hope it helps!
  15. Hi there cents, Welcome to Renotalk! Would love to see your actual pictures to see how the layout is like
  16. Hi salormoon, Wah is your kitchen as big as what I see on the floor plan? So much potential! Kitchen islands are lovely but they do take up space and that may result in reduced storage. So off hand, I suggest (unsurprisingly if you know me well) to hack the wall facing the kitchen of bedroom 2 and turn that into a dining. Then the island along the corridor and wet areas and cooking stays in the kitchen. I assume you need the kitchen island space for food prep and baking perhaps? My advice to anyone who is doing space planning is to always know your needs first. You can only depend so much on contractors and IDs. How many members staying? Who does the cooking? Mainly stir-fry or deep fry? Light or heavy? Oven? Microwave? Dishwasher? Washing machine?Kitchen appliances you need to plug in? Storage. Plates, knives, utensils, plastic bags, recyclables, disposal. Full height, top and bottom, bottom only. Only then would the aesthetics comes in. Note this is just the kitchen! If you need some layout ideas just pm me but definitely need to have a lot more info before we can make suggestions for you I love sketching out plans for ppl hahaha Your floor plan looks great - nice easy focal areas. The only real adjustment you might want to consider is the entryway before you reach the living room. It's a bit awkward but can do something like a lobby-style landing area where you put down your shoes, keys etc before you step into the real 'living area'. Just my 2 cents. Best wishes!
  17. Hi all, sorry been MIA the past few weeks. A lot of things happened including a death in the family so I haven't been logging in for quite a while. Not to mention that hari raya is drawing ev closer... Stardust >> wah very touching you still look for me vie been promising updates but haven't had the time to put them up only Mrdisco >> thanks! Actually I think white is simple choice for kitchens. I leave most of the colour coordination to my wife because she thinks my choices are sometimes too bold! Blinds are from this shop at Katong shopping centre, can pm me for his contact. Believe he does house visits so you can save going down to the shop. Blinds work great for me but some might prefer the softer look of curtains. No regrets because I hate changing and washing curtains, one less thing for me to do for raya. Fella >> I use noteshelf app on the iPad. Very highly recommended. Personally tried a few note-taking hand written apps but this is definitely worth the buy. Bigeyedfish >> the contact is actually through my contractor - I asked them to redo because it was so bad. But I did shortlist a few in case they didn't meet my standards, let me find the paper and I'll PM u.
  18. Hi PBS -it's from gnee hong in ubi. Can google or look it up at theartistandthegeek.wordpress.com

  19. oh floating bed concept, i like! i tried to convince my wife to do that but obviously failed your kitchen is how i would have done it - I assume the middle portion is a kitchen island? just a thought, usually your fridge will just out of your kitchen cabinets (standard depth is 600mm, fridge slightly more because of gap behind fridge plus its dimensions). that would put a damper on the seamless look. however i think if you can accept the fridge jutting out as part of your decor then its ok. just be aware you should plan where you want to put it. usually you can group them on the same wall section (with separation of course) as your oven and microwave (i assume you have these too?) ps good idea with the blank slate thingy - leaves more $$$ for the living areas no?
  20. I love the layout! I am a big advocate of hacking - it's so hard to find really adventurous house owners who have the desire and budget to match. However, I think it would be more bang for buck to go through the contractor route rather than an id. If I read this right, I think you have a rough idea what you want and just need to consult to see how really feasible to bring your dreams to reality. To me you should be looking at wide open spaces for the living, dining and store to become one big social gathering place. Your initial plan looks good in the sense that the bedrooms are squirreled away from the hubbub. Storage and displays would be key. Vignettes everywhere too So exciting! Are you as excited as I am? Lol
  21. yup agree, the display cabinet was definitely worth the wait!
