  1. Interesting.. the results is exactly what we're doing now for our new hse.
  2. I also deferred, for 7mths. Submitted the banquet contract to HDB. My fren whom also deferred, got his flat for nearly a yr.. so far, HDB haven't asked them for cert. LOL
  3. Maybank and RHB provide the cheapest rates
  4. Just look for those with 4 ticks?
  5. Probably they changed their subcontractor
  6. I regretted not re-wiring the resale flat we bought. We done some modification ourselves to the electrical wiring/switches (as my FIL worked as an electrician before).. and run into alot of constraints. There were many points which we cannot relocate/add.. existing lamp holders in L-box cannot dim.. certain switches cannot be replaced to the new ones we bought.. etc. Should have just spent the money to re-wire the house in the first place!! Wasted alot of time and effort, yet things turned out not to my pleasing.. :bangwall:
  7. u can checkout some feedback on white solid surface tops at below link http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19954
  8. I'm 32 and I took study loan for my university education. While I do envy some peers that their uni tuition fees are fully borne by their parents.. I'm grateful for my parents to provide for my education till tertiary as they are not financially well-off. In the future, I would ask my kids to take study-loan too. LOL.. In a way, it also trains them NOT to cultivate a sense of financial dependency on parents, and not take their tertiary education as granted. Anyway juz my 2c worth
  9. I can't agree more with you on that! Some ppl save alot, only for their children to squander/cheat their money away..
  10. Legally speaking, u r correct. But this is about causing inconsideration to neighbour, not so much I want that space to put my own stuffs. If there is fire hazard or blocking of escape route, can also complain to Town Council. They will intervene.
  11. Hi, I'm looking for movers specialised in moving (upright) piano. Anyone has recommendation? Thanks! Btw if the piano cannot fit into the lift, that means the workers have to carry it up via stairs. I stay in #24 wor.. I suppose the mover will quote more depending how high the unit is? *haiz.. pity the workers if they really have to carry the piano via stairs..
  12. Simple and effective solution. I didn't install hood in my new hse too Most probably will use your method if there's heavy cooking. =) Same! we chose the matte tiles for the same reason. Hopefully the matte surface don't trap too much dirt!
  13. Hi, I bought a Crestar 54" Airvac ceiling fan. Anyone has contacts for fan-balancing? Or can an electrician do the job? Thks!
  14. yes.. it is of GU10 base. I asked quite a few shops, including ChooChiang Wholesaler.. about dimmable enegry bulbs for this kind of cap base. All say don't have 3 channel remote controller? wow.. sounds hi-tech to me. Haiz.. I'm kinda resigned to the fate that I can't dim the lights in my L-box. All the x13 lamps already connected to a single switch. If I don't want to have so many lights (cuz too bright & waste electricity).. can I just simply unplug a few lamps from the lamp-holders? No danger right?
  15. I got similar problems as davidbslee and aflop. My unit's main door is directly facing my neighbour's main door, with a common area in-between. My neighbour got alot of things outside his house (plants, bicycles, metal cabinets). Quite an eye-sore but the worst thing is he lined up his potted plants all the way from his own door to mine! The plants are tall & outward-growing type.. and part of it is even obstructing our doorway. Imagine u need to brush some branches aside everytime you enter/exit your house. After getting the keys, we endured for abt a month.. hoping they will be "auto" and remove the plants prior to our renovation start. No. That did not happen. Finally we decided to talk to them nicely. My WTB told him that their plants might get damaged when workers moved things in/our of our house.. and advised them to move their plants. He actually replied:" No worry, if your workers need the space, juz ask them to inform me and I will shift the plants. After it's done, tell me so then I will put back." WTH.. u still want to put back the potted plants at the corner of my door?!! Obstruction and eye-sore is one thing. They did not bother cleaning up the fallen dried leaves.. and some of it got blown into my flat! I cannot tahan anymore and commented it is only fair that his stuffs should not cross over to our half. My neighbour looked pretty shocked at the change of our tone. He obliged, and on the next day they shifted the plants away from our half. But since then, my neighbours never look into our eyes or exchange smiles whenever we knocked into each other. Me and WTB would like to maintain a cordial relationship with our neighbours but it seems they are still very displeased with us. Oh well..
  16. Same thing for my one & only MK light switch - it has a loud 'click' sound.. And since it also looks significantly different from my other switches (Legrand Malia series), I think I should be changing it. The Legrand switches don't have the loud 'click' sound problem.
  17. Geez.. If only I had read this thread before I placed my orders with Majestic. On Mon (27-Jun), a salesperson called to say the sofa fabric which we've chosen is out of stocks. I asked him when the new stocks will be available but he replied 'not in the near future' and asked us to come down and select another fabric. My guess is he simply didn't bother to check for us. The salesperson also says the delivery for the sofa most likely will be delayed.. Now I'm really getting worried that they cannot deliver the goods as promised.. Hopefully the problem ends with just choosing a new sofa fabric and 1wk delivery delay! I ordered quite a no. of furniture from them.. *cross my fingers. =(
  18. Heh.. I second that.
  19. Thanks collins. Mm.. Any advice on dimmable lamps for my L-Box? Existing lamps holders are suited for 2-pin lamps (Philips PL-C 2P which is non-dimmable) Is there any dimmable 2-pin lamps in the mkt? Or the only way is to replace the lamp holders with ones that come with dimmer-enabled ballast? Hopefully the first method is feasible.. as replacing all x13 lamp holders in my L-Box adds up to a very significant cost.. Tks!
  20. Thks Imran. That was my initial thought, but contractor going to charge me additional $200 for tiling that area. We felt it wasn't worth that amt of money.. so decided to just take a chance. If the condition really gotten worse in future, then we will do tiling for the main door area.
  21. wow.. tat's alot of info, collins. Currently my L-box installed the Master PL-C 10W 827/2P CFL lamps, which is non-dimmable (yes, it flickers..) Do you know of any dimmable, energy-savings light bulbs which comes in 2-pins? Philips Tornado series? Thanks! For my chandelier, I have 2 set of bulbs- one non-dimmable (more exp but energy-saving type) and one dimmable (much cheaper). Since I'll be switching on the chandelier pretty often (as that is the only light source for my dining area).. I guess I'll most likely use the energy-saving bulbs more often, and use the dimmable ones only on special occasions. Haha..
  22. Mine has exactly the same problem too! Also ~10mm gap around the door frames.. The person doing the laminate flooring claimed that the large gap is necessary for expansion.. because of the large sq area. My hse is 118 sqm. How abt urs?
  23. Yep, it was really a good bargain. Most shops we been to, are selling at >$500 for similar design! We bought it at a furniture warehouse in Sungei Kadut. will post a pic when we got it hung up. =)
