applefreak, the $100 is to hack both study wall or oni 1 side. how come hacking permit fee $250 so expensive? my ID nv charge mi for hacking permit leh
-
i'm sure all of us tink the same lah. can't possible pay a bomb n get sub-standard work rite.
-
haha.. i call Henry everyday since day 1 of reno, except 1 or 2 days let him off. shall see my hp bill got go up anot. my HB also said we paid so much for reno, muz bug him n make sure he do a good job. cannot play taichi.
-
tink if we were to have book the unit at anchorvale, confirm we'll be paying much more for reno liao !! i chose my nest coz i was looking for convenience. MIL juz nagged dat we should have go for Anchorvale coz of the bigger room areas. dun tink i haf a PC, anything i juz call Henry. tink he receive my calls until sian liao. haf told him the jobs can be slower than schedule, but we dun wan the job to jump ahead like wat happened to the aircon. already complained that the aircon slanted n not aligned properly liao. everything we went thru OC coz if got any problem we juz look for OC directly. mi n HB are lazy ppl
-
odie, i juz saw the final photos in ur reno blog... NICE!!! envy dat ur MBR so much bigger than mine, tink other 2 BR also bigger than mine also. i supposed dats the price to pay for having bigger living room and extra balcony. juz my HB n i drove pass ur place on his bike, HB suddenly said actually ur area not bad. tink both of us sorta regret abit on nt getting our nest at Anchorvale instead. now my nest in the midst of reno, things seemed to go abit haywire after the workers went to install the aircon fancoil 2 weeks ahead of schedule. i can feel white hair coming out, also starting to have nitemare liao

yah, i tink the carpenter should koe how to go abt building the wardrobe around the casing. in dat case, u better level up ur balcony area. better to be safe than sorry. hacking should be cheap but not labour.. i paid $250 for hack both the study wall, u oni wan to hack one side, should be cheaper ba..
-
applefreak, my carpentry are not done yet, so we can still shift the scv point on socket point. fm the old position to the new position, there will be a casing lor. juz dat ID will need to get his carpenter to build the wardrobe over the casing. dunno how they gonna do dat, as long as look nice can liao. if u remove the balcony door, u must level up the balcony area to ur living room. else like ur mum said, may cause ppl to trip if they nv notice. since the contractor is hacking the floor, they should have no problem leveling the balcony area for u. dun worry. rosewood is expensive but lasting... the $$ is well-spent! seem like ur place is going for a chinois them considering u gotten rosewood bookshelf and mahjong table. mi will juz get a normal mahjong table. !!
-
u have to either install urself or ask ur carpenter to do it coz they oni sell the product. i tot big drawers should be heavy duty? how come urs is fragile they have a type which cater to heavy duty drawers, up to 40kg.
-
if u remove the balcony sliding door and track, u haf to live with having the balcony ceiling beam between the balcony and living room as it cannot be hacked away. u'll box up the balcony pipe? if u haf no windows and oni grilles, confirm the living room (after merging balcony+living) will be wet. tink if u stay on a higher floor, the impact not so big ba not sure how the HDB contractor will charge u, but if it cost more than wat the branch office supposed to paid for replacing to normal ceramic white tiles, u juz gotta top up lor. try asking for a discount my MBR wardrobe will be covering the SCV point and socket point at the wall. did not take up ID's suggestion of having LCD TV hidden in my wardrobe. now the electrician has done his job, i feel like asking him com over and shift the SCV point and socket point out to somewhere near the window. but tis will mean having a casing from the original spot to the new spot. dunno how ID built the wardrobe over the casing leh

any heard of Mepla-alfit and installed them b4? got to know abt tis brand thru a phamplet given to mi when i went to to view HDB showflats at Anchorvale last Nov. it is a soft-close system like Blum and made in Germany. their authorised sole agent in s'pore is Halifax Hardware Trading at AMK Ind Park 2. tinking of getting tis instead of Blum coz the price seemed to be cheaper. shall drop their office to check it out. http://www.mepla-alfit.com/content/index.php

bluberi replied to mint's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
chewbecca, i gave up on them. i bought a new TV point from Clipsal to change. -
applefreak, i tried to take the pic of the switches with flash, but the effect was worst. too white until see nothing leh.. tot of removing the balcony door initally but dat will also mean extra coz incurring as we need to level up the balcony area to the living room. need to buy more tiles and pay labour charge also. tink now nt many EAs have balcony liao rite? wanted to pebble wash it but forgo the idea coz need the $$ to pay for extra kitchen cabinets. tink if u r on a high floor, the rain might not be much of a prob ba. mi on 3rd floor, so heavy rain sure kenna 1/2 of balcony area. if no rain, will be having leaves blown in lor. so we installed windows.

Odie, talk abt balcony area, mi leaving it as it is. true enough, it'll be beri cramp to put my 3seater leather sofa. headache

Heard of this brand of switches? Hager
bluberi replied to skn16's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
juz went to get clipsal switches, gotten the same c-metro LED series which blackmango has but in white colour instead. wanted to get the same colour (silver grey) as blackmango, but ID advised against it coz we nt changing elec pts. can't possibly haf white and silver grey colour switches at the same time. either all white or all silver grey. so i bo pian get the white coloured ones coz want to save $$ my ID told mi earlier dat watever switches the electrician added or shifted will be designer switch, but end up is those normal switch from ABB. now i bought my own clipsal switch and paying the electrican to change for mi. juz the switches alone cost mi abt $315 (silver grey-$350+) after discount liao, if i were to get the elec pts. too, the total bill will be $700++ even after discount :) if i strike 4D, i got n get the elec pts. -
storeberry, ya lor.. it's twice our initial reno budget. really hope the reno turns out well after smashing in so much $$ on reno. now oni day 7 of reno, still got est. 1 more mth before the reno completes. but i told my ID to do slowly coz i dun wan to end up with shoddy workmanship.
-
saw it at the furniture shops located at kaki bukit, eunos technolink building
-
at first my HB n I budgeted 18k for reno, den it went up to 20k. when i signed with my ID, i told him die die cannot exceed 23k. the quote came back as 26k which we were quite alrite with. but we den begin adding n taking off some items (more of adding) from the quote, HB said budget oni 30k max liao and we still ended up with 39k for reno somemore nt including furniture. tink HB n mi den need to be beri frugal coz we still wedding expenses to pay.

Ok To Run Electrical Wires Alongside Citygas Pipe?
bluberi replied to bluskye's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
sorry to hijack tis thread. anyone koes if it's ok to run the gas pipe from the kitchen thru the service yard wall (from the top n go down the bottom) and back into the kitchen? need to do it this way coz i'll be having sliding door at the kitchen entrance. can't possibly have the gas pipes running down there, oni alternative is to go thru service yard n back into the kitchen. but the citygas sub-con said cannot coz the top part of the service yard wall is a structural beam. told mi to called citygas or HDB TO to come down n see if i dun believe. but i checked my floorplan liao, the service yard wall dun haf structural beam lor. see the red box i've drawn around the service yard wall. where got structural beam?? -
Hdb (not) Rectifying Defects For New Flats?
bluberi replied to mint's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
i agreed with applefreak, i bought a unit on her opp. block. also lots of defects and my TO got plumber to change all the rusty taps and cleaned off the badly stained WCs. contractors to replace cracked tiles in my common toilet (more than 30pcs) and chipped floor tiles my living room. in fact, my whole unit's floor tiles (except kitchen, service yard, toilets and HHS) has been replaced with new ones b4 i collected my keys from HDB. oni the SCV pt not changed even if it's rusty coz TO said it's not spoilt. -
applefreak, u r most welcome!
-
she beri good hor... if oni she nv changed mine earlier... i jealous leh. i dun mind topping up extra for the homogenous tiles lor. tink to change fm ceramic to homogenous tile, u need to pay oni $1k+. nice sink u got there. i was told rectification needs abt a mth. got my keys back 1 week b4 going into the 2nd mth.
-
Oops... i shd haf kept my mouth shut earlier.
-
oh, she called mi by mi name leh, not Mrs Kow (sound like Cow) nope, no joint inspection with her at all. i tink changing tiles is not prob la.. u dun tell her i tell u ar.. i ask her to change my kitchen tiles but she said cannot. but she offered to get her contractor to hack it FOC, so i juz paid my ID to supply n lay new tiles. save few hundreds liao actually want to get her to hack study wall FOC also, but i tink abit too much liao n she wun agree also
