Hi revox, thanks for dropping by. We are looking forward to the end result too. Hope it will turn out nice. Hehe Hi Aya, sorry for the lack of update recently. I was sick, but now feeling better. I shall update soon, stay tuned! Hi Hoo, no, we won't place transparent glass in front of the tiles, glass is expensive that's why we opt for tiles as backsplash. The overall cost is much cheaper than glass. My tiles are not glossy one, they are cement tiles. The sales person treated these tiles so that it will be easier for me to maintain and wipe them if they are stained. I don't think i will put glass, cos glass is not cheap. -

Your blog is interesting, and it really serves as a good guidance for me. Cos we have the same layout. Though your reno is complete, do come back often and support the rest of us ya. -

Yeah, you are right, that's what hubby told me and so we didn't buy the warranty for the fridge. Yeah, the price was really good as I asked around those local electrical stores, the best price they could give was $1050. So here it is, we bought it without much hesitation. So which one did you buy in the end? Hi toonie, thanks for dropping by my blog early in the morning and clarify my doubt. Yeah I also find that the local carpenters like the big gap between the upper and lower cabinet. My contractor told us if we really want the cabinet to be lower we can still adjust it after that, now the tiler is tiling the backsplash up to 80cm, we can still adjust the distance when designing the carpentry. I need to take into consideration my height and my hubby's height, if it is too low, it will be inconvenient for him to do the cooking and the hood may be just right into his nose (as he is > 1.8m). Thanks for liking our choice of tiles, fingers cross they will look good when the carpentry is up. -
Well done for your wall paper! Can you tell me how did you do it? Did you put the adhesive on the wall and the paste the wallpaper or put the glue on the wallpaper directly? And from which taobao seller did you purchase the wallpaper from? I feel like doing it for my bedroom, it looks so romantic!

i think all these items will get cheaper and cheaper, as they want to clear old items to allow new items coming into the market. Hmm we didn't think of getting extended warranty actually. hubby thinks that if the fridge is defective it usually will happen during the first two years, if it successfully pass the "window" period, it should be fine. haha don't ask me why he thinks like that. The stainless steel one is very nice! But it's a few hundred dollars more than the white and sandstone fridge. -

I think because the TV console is not very long, that's why the TV seems to look big? -

Oh, finally the sofa arrives! Nice colour you choose. You don't plan to have a coffee table or at least a small side table? Don't worry too much about your MBR wardrobe. One day if you don't like it you still can ask your uncle to help you do some magic with it. I think when we were given the laminate samples, we always see them in small pieces so it's hard for us to gauge the aesthetics based on these small samples. -

Hi Toot, we got it for $469. I am a bit regret with this tile. When we saw it at the showroom, it was gray colour under white fluorescent light. But when we saw it laid on the toilet floor under evening sunlight, it became brownish. It's a bit off colour. But too late to change already. Neoby: Is your kitchen tile rough surface? maybe watermark is more obvious on rough surface? As for whether my tile will have water marks or not, I'll let you know when it is done later, my toilet tiles are also rough surface. Maybe not a good idea to use on toilet if it is porous and it could also be slippery. The An Huat sales person advised us to treat the tiles with sealant, so we paid extra 50cent for each tile to be treated. But I see no difference physically. He also advised us to maintain it by applying sealant every year so that it will look new again. Haha I think because that day before we went to expo, we called up the Suntec uncle and told him we were coming, but he was not there so he referred us to his other colleague. His colleague was the one who gave us free delivery. Yah i bought the extended warranty for washing machine only. As the person advised it is better to have warranty for the circuit board. -

Aya and Aki are so lucky!! You guys have relatives to help you with all the furniture and accessories... envy envy!! Hey i think the brazilian walnut with white laminate is really a good match! When I looked at your MBR wardrobe, i felt something is missing and it can be better but i didn't know what was missing. Until today I saw your lovely tv console. I think the wood laminate used in small surface will look vr nice. -

Hi Aya, the pics were taken in the late evening. I think it would be brighter in the morning. I hope we don't have to turn on the lights while going to the toilet in the day time as it's a waste of electricity. In fact, my house is quite dark, and I also hope changing all the windows and painting with bright colours will help. Fingers cross!! hehe -

Hi OnTheRoad, yes those are cement patterned tiles. You can find them at Hup Kiong (next to Hafary, Balestier Rd) or An Huat Trading at 53 Zion Road. My contractor initially brought us to Hup Kiong, but they sell it at $4.50 per piece. Later we found that An Huat is cheaper, they sell at $3.50/pc, cos they are the supplier. So we got our tiles from An Huat. -

Week 3 3/5/2012 This week we finally see some progress! We were in the flat on Labour Day and was surprise to see that the tiler was working, but he was alone. His other team member went for holiday. Anyway, this was what we saw today. Our kitchen backsplash was partially up. My contractor told us not enough tiles, and he needs to order more. He mentioned that the gap between the top and bottom cabinet should be around 80cm. Is this the standard height? As I feel that 60cm is already very big gap. Any of you can tell me what is the standard gap between the top and bottom cabinet? The laundry area is near the rubbish chute. Common toilet floor tiles. The tiles kinda look like cement. Our original intention was to create a brick effect for the floor tiles but the tiler advised straight line tiling will look more spacious for our super small common bathroom; and also this kind of tiling will have better water drainage. Ok, we accept it! Once the tiles are up, the toilet looks brighter now! Master bathroom waterproofing. -
I like the actual outcome more than the 3D drawing! Nicely done!
-
Me too! My common toilet so narrow and i got to get a basin with 27cm in width. I like the curvy shape of your basin!

I have PMed you getzski's electrician contact.

Your common toilet looks very narrow from the photo. Do you have space to put basin? Or you plan to place your basin outside?

Oh, better to deliver the fridge once everything is cleaned. Cause the workers will do chemical wash after the reno. Roughly when will your reno end? Sandstone colour not bad too, i think the colour will be more durable than white! Yah, you will need to get the laminate samples from the contractor first. -

Your timber wood blinds really match the chocolate wall in your living room! It is unique, seldom see this colour. Overall your house really has the nature earth theme. -
Because most of the HDB layouts are squarish and yours is more like rectangular shape and i like the fact that your kitchen has two sides with windows. This will brighten up the kitchen!
