Nice settee! Where did you buy it from? The space here looks abit tight..hmm... If you put a long door mat, can the door close? I may put a small mat at the door, then a longish mat parallel to and underneath the settee, just extend a bit out to enable you to wear your shoes.

Thanks May, adidaem and jasdy for your views If you see from the pic I posted, the marble are small, longish pieces, not those big square ones I seen before, and my colleague commented that the grout lines are quite visible. As I'm not familiar with marble, wanna know if grout lines can be made less visible after polishing? Is there any way to make the marble appear lighter in colour?

Ditching the brick wall, will be focusing more on Mid century modern look. Due to tight budget, I am re-considering the flooring options. Should I should keep this original beige marble flooring, and accentuate using colourful rugs? Appreciate your comments

If you cook often, counterspace is very important. I will choose 3 or 4, depending on the working triangle distance, as long as don't have to walk too far between the 3 points, it should be fine. Using your diagram 4 as reference, have you thought of placing you fridge at the position opposite the current position of fridge, that is, beside the hob? Then construct countertop from beside the door (current fridge position) across to near the yard? Just an idea...

Received quotation from another contractor. Quite a huge price difference from first one. However, first one uses blum & living room tiles is quoted based on what I want (which I suspect is higher workmanship cost), whereas second one doesn't incl blum and the quotation is not based on the tiles i want. Second quotation include installation of lights, fans, hood, hob etc, which are missing from first quotation. All comments and advice are welcomed! Thanks!!
