  1. haha I like a bit of everything so rojak theme suits me! A german friend described my place as modern french +scandinavian,? a singaporean called it eclectic. I just called it rojak lol. My old place is contemporary/loft style with cement screed walls at the dining area and big open space with glass divider and glass door between the bedroom and the big living room, dining area and kitchen. My taste changed a little over the years and I am into old and new things, and colors now
  2. Hi Sleepy. You are welcoome ! Greg received his lightings last week and unboxing soon. He said he will write some reviews! I dont have a blog but I posted some random shots on Flckr My theme is rojak too lol. Result of trying to save cost by reusing some of the furnitures and furnishings from my old place, and new purchases of brand new and second-hand items.
  3. Thanks greg! I just bought some yoga clothings online and shipped through vpost USA, and see that vpost ships from china too. Just wondering how easy is it to buy directly from taobao and ship through vpost china for small purchases. They do consolidation of shipments too. I have been using vpost USA for the past few years, like that I can specify a post office as the delivery address and pick up the goods at my convenient.
  4. Hi Sleepybeauty, Greg bought something similar to option 2 from taobao: http://a.m.taobao.com/i19182618538.htm together with other industrial style lightings. He did a very useful writeup a week ago about Taobao shopping that got me interested too. stalk his blog lol http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/61629-industrial-loft-concept-bachelor-pad/page-3 I made my first taobao purchase this week together with him and oldskool. Thanks oldskool for coordinating the joint purchase!
  5. hi Mrswk mine is matt, and I like! haha Just Give Me A Reason why P!NK is not a color lol
  6. nicely done up! hey we use the same brand of laminate flooring, and think we picked the same color as well I used PERGO at my old place and I have yet to notice any difference in terms of quality between this German brand and PERGO.
  7. hey Greg, what exchange rate is peeka using ? http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/tablet-den-328/puzzled-why-you-guys-use-agents-taobao-3637090.html
  8. And your Danish bf actually approved you to use blue and yellow instead of red? Besides Skåne county I rarely see a red flag proudly displayed outside a house in Sweden :)I had to shoot @MarkerMarker an email to ask him if he furnished his apartment in Copenhagen in red, gray and black because I dont recall such color combination during my many visits to Sweden via Copenhagen L ove visiting Tivoli garden during winter, and feast my eyes with the egg chairs, artichoke lamp and other scandinavian classics at the big dept store ILLUM and the shops at Strøget. Haha so so true! I worked for a Swedish company for 10 years, couldnt agree more about this. Its not a bad thing though! The Scandinavian countries have been consistently ranked among the top few countries with good work-life balance and high quality of life despite the high tax. There is less pressure to chase for material things over there.Mark couldnt believe how much the hammock chair cost! He said he will have to kick himself and burn his credit card if he had bought that lol. I hope your priced purchase can stay exquisite for a while before it gets mass copied and sold on tsobao like many other design classics I love the ultra pocket friendly yoga trapeeze cum hammock I bought two years ago during a four weeks budget yoga holiday in Ubud! Guess how I get to know about this fun little thing? It was from an article featured on Straits Times Life! edition about an upmarket sex shop Mr and Mrs Smith at bukit timah that pompted me to ask Mr google if the love swing really cost so much, and out of no where an image of the yoga swing in the exact same placement as the love swing popped up in the search results!I find it a lot more sexy than the love swing found out that it is made in Ubud and I had to grab one while I was there
  9. thx! too many choices. I think I should jusf fix a big LCD on top of the mid height wardrobe in my bedroom to display them lol
  10. and for those who are into movie posters: http://s.taobao.com/search?spm=a230r.1.8.4.nPiIco&promote=0&sort=credit-desc&ppath=10142877%3A3240637&initiative_id=staobaoz_20130827&tab=all&q=%D3%D0%BF%F2%BB%AD&cps=yes#J_relative I saw a few posters which I intend to get but I forgot to bookmark them. now kinda tricky to trace back after viewing over 40 pages of posters ::
  11. hey Redder, I have benefitted from this forum tremendously since I chanced upon it late last year after I bought the current resale flat, happy to share what I know who might be of interest to the folks here
  12. very nicely done up! why didnt the tenant like the hammock chair! I saw it online 2-3 weeks ago and had an instant crush with it. Didnt know that its so pricey though
  13. hi ProjectH termites do not just attack laminate flooring. what do you plan to do to ensure that all your carpentry work and wood products you owned are terminate proof ? I have been cautioned by a few friends about buying wood products from indonesia. I guess it applies to wood products from china and any other countries as well..
  14. you are really on full speed with this DIY project! what do you intend to do with the white planks and drawers? I think it might be worthwhile to walk around IKEA to see if you can find non-white planks that fit, or get them cut at a wood factory.
  15. Hi Greg, I am bribing a friend to carry out the execution! He read the cute assembly instruction and said its easy!
  16. Just received the first (partial) shipment from Amazon with free global shipping, big thanks to Vanessa! The items I selected were all listed under the "free xxx shipping list" and I have no clue at all why Amazon still asked for shipping charges. Ness took over and clicked a few buttons to get to the option to chat with the customer service online but didnt get a satisfactory answer, ad she helped me order through her Amazon acct the following day, chatted with the cs and found out that the culprit was the Manduka yoga mat + yoga bag (too big to ship?) and a cast iron press . The foldable yoga mat and three other tems went through smoothly last thursday and Amazon shipped three items out last friday and arrived at my door step on monday late afternoon. very impressed! See how muh space there are in the box, they could have squeezed in the yoga mat I ordered! I will try to order again this weekend amazon by Sarahbj3b, on Flickr
  17. June, mine too! Wonder why the architects design a sunk in area in the room and leave the headache to us homeowners? the Scanteak vinkel queensize bedframe I bought can fit into the sunk in area nicely with one end close to the wall but changing bedsheet and the mattress protector will be such a pain. I inititially thought of doing some carpentry work like this to disguise the area but in the end I opted for the much cheaper alternative of boxing it up (and to hide the aircon pipes that ran through the top part of the wall) mbr idea by Sarahbj3b, on Flickr the other room I left it as it is and will fill the wall space with this IKEA hack, hopefully in a few weeks time! http://www.ikeahackers.net/2013/04/artav-by-atelier-45.html"
  18. Hi Greg, Thanks for sharing your thoughts! the fiber glass concrete wall panels is looking good and it should be more tolerant to wear and tear than laminate I think. cement screed is definitely a more pocket friendly and interesting option but have to find the right contractor to do the execution, else may be a real ugly piece of "orh lu lu" art in your tiny pad lol I wanted a brick wall initially but I didnt like the small craftstone bricks. My contractor frowned when I asked her to do cement screed on the entire wall at the dining area and draw big bricks on it and paint it white. She frowned again when I asked her to overlay existing tiles on the balcony floor and walls with cement screed but I convinced her to do it without warranty. The effect is pretty okay mah!
  19. hi greg the concrete effect fiber glass wall panels you ordered look similar to what June's Contractor/ID did for the TV feature wall cum storage solution for his own flat, but his was achieved thru some carpentry work (I think) http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/50583-my-first-home/page-4 for you case will it be cheaper or cost about the same to achieve the same effect using real concrete/cement screed ?
  20. hi Mrs Dunno nvm, you can treat it like a hair spa corner while you are watching reruns of Grand Designs on starhub haha
  21. hi June okay let me know I want to custom make a longer single layer wine bottle storage console like this http://mayamade.blogspot.sg/2010/07/hairpin-leg-wine-storage-barn-diy.html and an oval shape coffeetable
  22. hi Greglhc are you still keen to get the hairpin legs? Wanna combine shipment? I saw the legs from hairpinlessforless.com before but think Etsy is cheaper and the guy can make custom length.
