  1. If you go for a CASE TRUST accredited ID or renovator, you stand a better chance in case of any dispute.
  2. I started reaching out in the first week of July. I waited for 3 weeks trying to gather responses and following-up which I must say, till date is not to my expectations. Another thing I noticed is most of them are not CASE TRUST Accredited, which makes me believe, that in case of any dispute, as a consumer we are unprotected. What are your view on this?
  3. My first experience in choosing IDs so far: I uploaded my floor plan on Renotalk website and requested for quotations. Initially, I was flooded with many calls from several IDs. Almost all of them AGAIN! asked me to send the floor plan to them, even though I uploaded the floor plan on the website in the first place. Also all the IDs wanted to meet me and see the site. I asked all the IDs to drop me an email with their first quote based on the floor plan and my initial requirements for me to consider before I can meet them up. If not, I need to spend next many weeks just to meet them all! Surprisingly, most of the IDs never send me any email after the call. Only a handful few sent me emails some with standard package offers inspite of me mentioning what I wanted to do! Few of them sent me intro email and after that no response! I was impressed by Vincent Blog (http://www.vincentinteriorblog.com/) on his knowledge and advice to new home owners like me. I reached out to Vincent and sent him my floor plan and requested for quotations. (similar to Renotalk). I was recommended to 2 IDs by Vincent. Unfortunately AGAIN, no response by both the recommended IDs, inspite of me waiting for over 3 weeks for them to respond! Looks like every ID in this business is very busy with loads of projects! Appears to me that ID business is a good business to be in! In the next part, I will write about my experience in shortlisting the ID’s – thanks to the Renotalk friends feedback and some personal contacts.

  5. I completely agree with you on your comments. Most IDs simply don't give or come out with ideas. They just ask from you what to do. They never are in a position to come out with innovative ideas or concepts.

  7. Hi, One more thing you need to be aware on marble costing: 1. Inaddition to the cost of marble there is 2. Sealant cost (to seal all sides to arrest the porous, water seeping etc,). It is approx. $1.50 psf 3. Dry laying cost (to check the layout in warehouse for connecting the running pattern in the marbles to make it pleasing for the eye after installation at home) Is it approx. $ 1.20 psf. 4. Laying cost. It will be $ 4-6 psf.
  8. Any idea on how to upload multiple images to this forum. I was trying to upload some of the tiles pictures through the gallery as suggested by binzz, but after one picture, it say "not enough space".

  11. Hi, Anyone who can throw light on where to buy quality toilet bowls and sanitary wares? I found most of the forum thread is outdated on this subject. Anyone who has recently bought or done some research, please share details on various brands / models like Toto, Otto, Baron, Arino, Caprio, Johnson Suisse, Grohe, Bravat. Has anyone come across a brand called MDM (supposed to be Malaysia brand with nice features!) Thanks in Advance.
  12. Hi.. Welcome to days of excitement! Like you, I too started doing some research on marble and granite options and published my findings in my t-blog. You can find the info here in below link: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/66174-5-rm-resale-dream-home-project-strathmore/ Hope you find the info useful. Good luck.
  13. Hello, Can you please share with me the ID you have chosen and your final feedback on them? TIA
  14. Today, we did a preliminary visit to get an idea of choosing tiles for our home. Here's a quick summary: 1) Hafary @ Eunos Ave 3: Extensive collection. Lots of designs. We got lost . Most were pricey. Starting range for tiles were above $7 except for one section where they had $6 (China made) and below. Conclusion: Maybe their target here is for wealthy and high-heeled customers. 2) Hafary @ TradeHub 21, Jurong East: Good collection (not so much so that you get lost). Affordable range - although got a some high range ones. Their price range was reasonable. $4 - $7 for tiles, $12-15 for marbles (ofcourse got high end one above that), and $15 and above for granites. The sales person told me that they carry the tiles range which are usually fast moving. Conclusion: If you want to see affordable and popular designs without wasting much time, go here. 3) Soon Bee Huat @ Toh Guan Road East: Extensive collection. Lots of designs similar to Hafary @ Eunos Ave 3. But better lay out & segregation of areas such as outdoor, indoor, feature walls, etc., so you don't get lost. Price seems to be better than Hafary for few; for few more expensive (we didn't look into minute details at this time, since this was our first visit. I especially liked some designs of tiles @ $3 range some marbles @ $8 and granite @ $6-10 range. Conclusion: if we like the designs we may end up buying here. Unless we don't see any other.. 4) Another friend in Renotalk recommended Huatong88 Pte Ltd @ Katong Shopping Center, in Mountbatten Road. But when we went there – there was no such shop!
