Hi All.. Need your sincere advise as currently I'm doing toilet reno works since 3 weeks ago but I have 3 main problems now and conractor is doing a very bad job: 1. Floor tiling not have enough gradient that water is ponding in dry area as attached picture. My contractor claim my tile too big. My toilet dimension is 1.5 (width)x 1.9 (length) x 2.3m (height) and my floor tile size is 30cm x 60cm. Any advice to rectify this water ponding issue? Any recommendation for other contractor? 2. My door frame was damaged. I'm just aware today that my door frame was chiseled so it can closed properly. I have no issued before the renovation work commenced. Anyone recommend to fix this? 3. Toilet window not properly installed. Sideway protuding by 3mm. Whats the risk to reinstall or readjust the window? Will this damage the wall tile ? I learned my lesson the hard way . This contractor just did such a bad job and this small toilet cost me above average cost. The painting job is so ridiculously bad (attached pic) I have paid 65% and Im thinking to engage another party using the remaining 35% . Thanks for all your advices.

Hi, my floor tile below my refridgerator was damaged due to a glass cup fell directly onto it. Do you have any suggestion on any repairmen who could help to fix it? Don’t require the final result to be same and marvellous, just able to fix the hole would be good enough. Alternatively (I think it might be hard to get someone just to fix that), although I’m not a craftsman, any suggestion on how to DIY to repair would also be good advice to me. Need to know what materials to get. Thank you.

Hi, Advice on tile refinishing needed. I have tiles like this in my space: Bought at the tile shop near Zion Road. I think on installation, a wrong chemical was used. as a result, the surface is now porous and pock-marked! 1) do you know what kind of tile this is? (is it a ceramic tile? the design goes about 5mm deep into the tile) 2) can it be "refinished" - e.g. sanded down the top surface then reseal if it can be refinished, who in singapore is "expert" on this if it cannot be refinished, any recommendations for rehack/refloor? thanks, Lennard

Hi fellows, may I check with you: I've got my entire living room flooring changed (from 1 type of tiles to another). However, after changing the tiles, with respect to the particular tile directly underneath my main external metal gate, the original hole that exist in the ground is no longer there. This hole, is the one that allows the internal shaft of the metal gate to insert into when we wish to lock the metal gate in position. May I know if it's the responsibility of my tiling crew to drill back a hole in the same spot for my metal gate to lock?

Hi all renotalk forumers, need your help here. two thirds of my living room tile just erupted, cracking like popcorn. i am told that the cause is due to ceramic tiles expansion, water seeping between the tiles and adhesive insufficient. in other words, wear + tear lah. i tried going to hdb branch, but am told that only for punggol sengkang flats which are newer, do they provide tiles and therefore bear the cost. otherwise, it is homeowner's responsibility. hdb only provided tiling for the bathroom + kitchen for older units. can i check 1) is it true, or is the hdb officer mistaken? i can't check as i m 3rd owner, and the 2nd owners says she didn't reno the floor. is there any remedy insurance? or can i buy reno insurance to prevent this happening 2) how much it costs to retile? the living room + dining area space is abt 430 sq ft 3) how long it takes for such works? i heard it is 1 day hack, 1 day tile and 4 days to settle. is that true? means i hv to camp somewhere for 6 days? sigh.... rgds

Do you consider the 'pros and cons' of the different tiles? Or is the design and color more important? Anyone used MATT color/finish wall tiles for the bathroom, in particular the wet area? Any problem with the maintenance? I would think those wall tiles with GLOSSY finish will be easy to clean. Your views?
