genes don't 100% determine your 'destiny', because environmental factors play a part too. everybody has cancer genes, but you can lower the risk of 'triggering' them through good habits and diet.

places like IKEA that provide proper areas to return the trays, i will do. at fast food restaurants, we also clear coz it's pretty easy (everything left behind is paper) at food courts, like y'all mentioned, hvnt eat finish auntie come and clear liaoz. at most i will just put everything nicely on the tray so it will be easy for them to collect and clear and wipe the table.

Thinking of trading in our 32" LCD HDTV for something bigger...does anybody know of anywhere i can get a trade-in value for the unit to offset the new purchase?

well if you really want to maintain the integrity of the parquet floor, don't use anything with wheels on it. maybe you can change the wheels to sliders?

Hi guys, just wanted to share my experience with SP (utilities)... We were away for two weeks in June, and before we left, we made sure to clear the fridge so we could turn off the electricity mains, get a plant sitter, turn off the water mains etc...but it turns out the water main for my unit was located at the void deck, so whatever it was that my dad helped to turn off was not the main. Anyways, one of our spray hoses broke, leaving water to flow very freely for almost a week until our part-time amah came in and she saw that water was gushing from the pipe and called my parents. So in June we got a shocker of a utilities bill of $170, when usually we would have paid about $70 a month. Water consumption shot up 6-fold, from 9 Cu.M to 60! Heart pain...decided to try my luck to ask SP for a partial waiver..emailed them, got a standard "we-have-forwarded-your-letter-to so and so" a couple of days later and thought all was lost. haiz. At least i tried right? But I was in for a very pleasant surprise...we just received our bill today and they gave us a partial bill waiver of $60. Isn't that nice? So yeah, lesson learnt. If you're going to be away for a long time do turn off all the mains, to avoid wasting water and sky-high bills. I'm also very thankful that SP decided to consider my request and give a partial waiver. Times are getting hard, and it's little gestures like this that makes it easier.

there are many different types of stands but the one we hv currently can be folded flat and stored under the bed.

well maybe it feels nicer to hv a breeze around/on top of you instead of in your face? i find myself wishing for a ceiling fan in the bedroom on warmer nights coz the tower is wasting time oscillating..

why not buy the stand? then u can hv use the motorised type

well it never occured to me not to get a ceiling fan without lights. lol. the 'pendant' design allows for easy on and off, my parents hv a fan with the 'hamburger' light and everytime u pull the string to either on/off the light or change the fan speed it always feels like you're going to pull down the light. no vibration, and we don't use the light very often anyways so i don't know about the shadows casted on the ceiling. i don't look up lol. i mean, if i had a choice, i would hv gone for a nice breezy flat where there is no need for fans..so yeah.

lights off lights on..with my standing fan in the background i wish i could give you a better picture to see how the fan looks like in the room but it's Sunday and I hv not done any chores and i have a naked baby sleeping on the floor lol. i don't know what brand this is, we went to a store at balestier at the recommendation of our ID and bought all our lights and this ceiling fan from there. Think we got hookwinked though..paid $400+ for this. my neighbour has a ceiling fan in their bedroom, which is a pretty good idea but our bed is quite high and the ceiling is low, and i don't want my kid(s) to lose their heads so on nights that are not too warm, the standing fan suffices. Mistral is quite strong and has good circulation but the base vibrates quite a bit and is quite noisy (to me, doesn't bother the husband a bit). can't say the same about my PowerPac fan that is all sleek and stainless-steely but no power liddat.

to clean a ceiling fan, you need a step ladder, a damp cloth and depending on how much dust is involved, newspapers or maybe can even use a vacuum cleaner. ceiling fans circulates wind ard the room much more efficiently than a standing fan. but here at home, we have both

my neighbour has it. kinda noisy coz it beeeeeeeeps a lot. initially they had issues with it, but think it's all worked itself out. our neighbour installed it because his mom had the habit of forgetting to lock the gate when she went out (the gate autolocks when it closes). kinda cool me thinks.

i also can stroll there..but it'll be a 3 hour stroll..lol

estila at aljunied has some massive ones. the shop, from outside, doesn't look like much but it's quite nice on the inside...

congrats to bot of you! how exciting! i delivered my daughter at Eastshore, my gynae was dr denas chandra. Lovely man, 4 kids of his own, very gentle demeanour plus his nurse at the eastshore clinic is super duper nice and friendly ESH is small, quiet, nothing much to do there, but it was certainly very very convenient for it to be near your house because you hv to keep going for regular check ups and apparently their confinement menu is super yum too. it's not cheap though, but i would definitely be going back there for subsequent additions to the brood.

my sink is over the chute and yes it's quite difficult to throw stuff. not only because must bend down and stretch but also because originally the pipes under the sink partially obstructed the chute! it would hv been impossible to throw down medium sized bags of rubbish! so the plumbers changed it the pipes to exclude the trap? you know, those canister things under the sink? yah...so given a choice i would hv maybe changed the orientation of the sink to L shape, leaving a narrow aisle but full access to the chute. right now, it's not too much of a bother because i don't cook much and i recycle most of my packaging so what gets throw down the chute is quite minimal.

even though many ppl hv wall tiles for their kitchens, not many ppl i know actually clean them because they don't really get dirty?
