  1. Forgot to add that I flipped the cardboard up from my shower area in the mbr bathroom and saw this - my shower area floor trap. Quite unique for me. I really like it! http://
  2. Thanks @ricepapergirl. Yah, I'll check with him to see if I can still change.
  3. haha, don't know whether you watch this comedy called Parks and Recreation, but one guy in the show strapped a music player to his roomba and called it DJ roomba. Maybe you can try.
  4. There's been more progress in the last two days. Went down to my place during lunch and was pleasantly surprised to see the living room fan has installed, together with my track lights. Also, my toilet bowls have been installed too but they have been sealed with tape to prevent anyone from using them. However, I feel that the toilet bowls have been installed a little bit too low. I would be more comfortable if they were about 8-10cm higher. Question for more those who have done their reno - Is it possible to change the height of my toilet bowls at this stage without major work or do I have to live with it? This is my ceiling fan and track lights. (Living room) http:// I just love my fan (from a brand called Spin). This is a close up of the fan. http:// My toilet bowls. The cardboard on the top contains the toilet seat. Sealed with tape. First picture is common bathroom and the next picture is the mbr bathroom. http:// http://
  5. Haha, I also have a lot of things to move. I am single and I have 26 boxes.
  6. Quiet on the renovation front. I settled the layout of my carpentry two weeks ago and everything is being built. In the meantime, my place is being painted as per the last set of photos and this week, they are doing the lighting and installation of the fan. Below are some photos of the partially done lighting (these are all taken by my ID as I did not go down to my place last night). This is the cove lighting for my living/dining room. As you can see, there is still a lot more to be done. Yesterday (monday) was the start of the light installation. http:// These are the spotlights for the common bathroom. All my lights are warm lights. I wanted that cozy feel and I felt that warm lights achieved this best. http:// Spotlights in my master bedroom. http://
  7. Thanks Ricepapergirl. Yes, my ID said that he will change it to a warm grey.
  8. Congrats! Happy for you that the reno is coming to an end!
  9. It's been awhile since my last post as not much was done. But last week they started painting. My feature wall in the living room is the correct colour, correct as in it was what I discussed with my ID. As for the rest of the house, the colour we discussed was a lighter grey but it seemed to turn out in a more blueish hue. Admittedly, when I went down at about 6pm last Friday, there was not so much light so the colour was grey, but when I went at about 2pm on Sunday, in the styrong light, it looked really blue. (The pictures I attached was taken on Sunday. I feel that there is quite a contrast when in the light and in the sahde - you'll see what I mean in the picture.) My ID is going down today to check out the colour to make sure that it is what we discussed and that it fits in with the overall design. Living/Dining room. The dark wall is my feature wall while the blueish wall is the paint for the rest of the house. http:// Mbr - The colour here seems closer to what I discussed with my ID. http:// Kitchen. Colour here also seems a bit closer to what we discussed. http:// Carpentry will be another couple of weeks, so the next thing I'm looking forward to is the installation of the lights and fan which my ID said will take place this week or next.
  10. The tiling is now done for the bathrooms and kitchen. So the contractor has cleared out all the tiling stuff and the place was washed. I can finally see my floors again! Mbr bathroom http:// Common bathroom http://
  11. Awesome! Really nice looking home. Just to ask, does the water splash out of the shower area in your mbr bathroom. I'm also not having a door in my mbr bathroom but a bit concerned that water will splash out when showering.
  12. Hi, I find that it is good if you could go to several contractors/IDs to source for quotations. Also, if you are staying in a condo, it would depend on the restrictions in the by-laws when it comes to reno and therefore, the contractors/IDs may factor these into their quotes leading to a higher quotation.
  13. Yesterday was constructing the false ceiling. This is the living/dining room. http:// http:// Master bedroom. http:// Kitchen. http:// And common bathroom. http://
  14. Mid-week update. Kitchen floor tiles have been laid. I used the same tiles for the kitchen and utility area. (Photos sent by my ID so I have not had the chance to go see the quality of the laying of tiles yet.) http:// Another angle http:// Also a better (brighter) picture of my common bathroom wall tiles. http://
  15. If you can wait about a month more, Gss will start and you may be able to get better deals on electronic stuff. Also there will be comex I think from 26 may, again, May be able to get discount on electronic stuff like tv.
  16. As thing are kinda quiet, I thought that I would post some of my other misc purchases. First up will be my fridge. As mentioned in an earlier post, most of my major kitchen appliance are from Teka. The fridge is also from there. Why not a standalone, my ID wanted to have the fridge hidden like in a lot of modern condos. I am open to the idea. I don't need all that much fridge space coz I don't cook and all I need is the frdge to hold my drinks, ice cream and any emergency food supplies if I get the case of the munchies in the middle of the night. http:// This is my sofa. As I spend a lot of time on the sofa, I wanted something that was super comfy. I was looking around for one and I actually had my heart set on a sofa from Originals Furniture. But when I went to their store, they were out of stock. I carried on looking and remembered seeing a few ads for King Living. So I went to check it out and they were having a 50% off certain models. So after testing the sofas, I bit the bullet and got a super comfy one. I had the option to pay for this mechanism that would make the sofa recline even more but I decided against it as I read a few Australian reviews that the mechanism got spoiled quite easily. My sofa will be in dark gray. http:// I also went mattress shopping. I am a really light sleeper and very sensitive to irregularities in my mattress, e.g. lumps. I wanted to get something which would make me sleep so soundly that I will be late for work every day. I used to use Sealy Hotel series and they are extremely comfortable even though they are a bit pricey. But I have been reading about this brand called Omazz and how theirs is using full latex. So I went to their gallery at Parkmall. I tried it out and I was hooked. Mind you, this is the day after I went to try the Sealy mattresses and I was already about to pay for the Sealy mattress. So, I was really impressed by this brand which even the salesman at some of the big name stores have never heard off. Price-wise, it was actually very slightly cheaper than the Sealy mattress which I wanted and I got 2 pillows and a mattress protector thrown in for free. So, I got it. http:// That's it for now. Hopefully more will be done for my reno this week so that we can return to the main event. Have a good week ahead guys!
  17. Haha, thank you. I'm also eagerly waiting myself. Things seem to be slowing a bit, but I figure that I would rather that more time is taken to do the waterproofing and tiling works rather than rush through and then have problems in the future.
  18. It's also dark. I can't take a photo yet coz it's all covered up, but will take one when they removed the cardboard floor protector.
