  1. Congrats too Wanted to get a simmons mattress too. But very expensive. In the end, since all brands give me the same feeling except hard and soft, I bought a max coil. Ever read from an article that if you cannot feel the diff between a $1K mattress and $100 mattress, go for the $100 one Oh yes, pretty good business with Patrick now. He told me he is renovation 10 units at the moment. Just b4 CNY, he was renovating 20 units Biz too good also no good for flat owners like us, cos he will have limited time and attention to provide the best service to you. Sometimes, I realised he did not have time to drop by my flat to see the progress and leave all to his workers to handle. It was a Saturday afternoon when I was in my flat, his tiler was not told by Patrick about the mounting of my kitchen sink and started to apply cement under the sink. I told him I wanted to overmount the sink and asked if that was the way to do it. He stopped and rang Patrick to clarify. Well, if I was not there, Patrick would probably have to buy me a new sink cos the current one cannot use leow Even Patrick is a very nice guy, but as his biz is so good, he might forget to pass down instructions to his workers on what you want. You probably have to help him to supervise the work, just to make sure everything is going smoothly. Now, his tiler is so scared of me that he quickly leaves my flat at end of the day, just before I finish work & drop by my flat to check on the progress
  2. Reading all your comments, confirm I have the smallest pigeonhole cos mine is a 3I unit My reno cost is around 10K, have not finalised yet cos reno still going on. I kept the living hall Tarrazzo floor and simply polish it. The 2 bedrooms have cement screed so I go for laminate flooring. Got to hack the kitchen floor cos I change my sink and basin location, their previous locations were very odd. Keeping the wall and floor tiles for bathroom and toilet since they were done 5 years ago during upgrade. Have not bought my TV yet, but no way I will go for anything >1K.
  3. Yes, what applefreak said is correct, it depends on the tiles you choose. I chose a tile design which is made in China and according to Patrick, I was the only one who had warping problem with that tile design The uncle who did my tiling work said even Europe made tiles have warping problem but not as much as China ones.
  4. Oh, so brother MaCe is a FS master? Aiyoh, their god is their government loh !! Well, sad to see that so many Singaporeans believes $$ comes first. Each time I came back to Singapore after a few years living in overseas, I kind of sad to see that the whole society is not turning to the friendly and more considerate direction Actually, $$ is important but no need to go extreme lah.
  5. Read this article http://www.renotalk.com/forum/lofiversion/....php?t1030.html
  6. Although I think that I am superstitious by insisting that my stove cannot face any water elements, I did nothing on the first day when I opened the door to my newly bought resale flat. Only when my parents wanted to do some praying in the house, I let them burnt joss sticks in the corners of all the rooms before the renovation started. I will probably choose an auspicious day to move in Wonder what Christians do when they bought a flat, I guess they won't do all this? Anyway, I am a Buddhist
  7. Try putting a partition inbetween them. Keeping both doors closed is not going to help unless you sealed up the toilet door and not use it at all.
  8. They don't do sink and vanity top using silestone, applefreak tried asking them but got turned down Only kitchen worktop. Price wise, see applefreak's comments
  9. Try this website http://www.kronoflooring.com/en/kronofix.shtml Hah, made in China though German tech? Then better think twice. I am so scared of China made products no matter what tech they are using. Their quality simply not up to standard, very cheapo Ask your ID if you can go for Kronotex? Their laminates are made in Germany.
  10. Pictures? Only in my camera phone leh. No broadband at home now to upload photos lah. Will try to post some when I have the chance
  11. Kitchen where? Worktop? Or sink? Stove definitely cannot lah Depends what you want and how you look at it, Indian granite is costing me $100 psf which include delivery, cutting of holes etc. If I go for mid-range solid surface, I can even get $80 psf.
  12. Go for Kronofix, it is a German company. Only thing is that they are not as famous as Kronotex in Singapore. Read from this forum that it is better than Kronotex during a performance test. But make sure the series you choose is really made in Germany. If the laminates are from Germany, then it is good. Just like China made ones are usually not so good !!
  13. Yes, since you have already bought that unit, think positively and you will be happy You no need to worry when taking the lift with strangers. Too many robbery cases happening in the lift. I am living in a 2nd floor unit for a couple of years, and I walk upstairs everyday. Now I have bought a 10th floor unit and I must take the lift. No strength to take staircase leow. Every time when I am in the lift with a stranger, I feel so scared and worried
  14. If you are near to Toa Payoh, try this shop in Block 85C Lorong 2. Can't remember its unit #, but it is the only shop there that is specialised in laminate flooring. You can see some of the samples in front of their shop, not hard to find though. They carry a few brands, you will have a feel of their pricing, should be cheaper than Supreme. I have placed my order with Supreme before I saw this shop. Since it is a leased office unit, then no need to spend too much on flooring lah
  15. Ever read from some FS books that what your potential neighbour has been doing will bring bad luck to you if you were to buy that unit. Suggest you forget about this flat and look somewhere else.
  16. Thanks brother MaCe for the clarification BTW, where is the cheapest place to buy Philips energy saving bulbs? I am looking for CFL and eyeing at their Tornado design. Thank you
  17. Not so much on the impact leh, maybe Ho Bee helps me to absorb the cost increase But he told me the cost for sands has increased by 20% compare to last year. He started the reno for my flat last week and based on my research, the cost for some of his items are more and some still remain compare to last year's figure. Well, everything is going to cost you more as time goes. So far nearly nothing is getting cheaper nowadays
  18. I already have in mind to go for different colors for each room in my new flat. After seeing Mrs Png's blog, I was convenienced that my flat would look nice and cheerful The painter has done the first 2 layers of paint for my flat last weekend and I was kind of wah I selected light green Revitalize (not lime green but a lighter one), yellow Sunshine, light blue and light purple (can't remember their name liao) for my living hall, kitchen and 2 bedrooms
  19. Goto their website, I think is www.kronotex.com.sg, and ring their sales number to place your order. The money you pay for the laminates includes labour work. I do not think they will want to reduce the pricing if you DIY. Also, do you have the necessary machinery to DIY? You need a machine to cut the laminates for corner and edge areas. Like what vowsh said, no warranty if you DIY.
  20. Yes, very hard if something goes wrong Builder's shop and Ho Bee might start to point fingers at each other and I would be the one who suffer Also, being the co-ordinator will mean that you need to be around when Builder's shop goes to your house to do measurement and delivery. Patrick is a nice guy but somehow, he does not want to work with Builder's shop directly
  21. Yes, AC3 and AC5 are both 8mm. From what the sale guy told me in the expo, the price difference between AC3 and AC5 is just a few cents psf. Not to forget that AC3 is made in China whilst AC5 is made in Malaysia. If you do not plan to live in your new house for more than 10 years, then go for AC3 Although Supreme gives lifetime warranty, not to forget that this does not cover human mistake like warping due to untreated water or dropping sharp objects on the floor. As for cycling around the house, really cannot answer you as I have not tried it before If the tyres are made in rubber instead of rough metal, I think it should be ok. During the last expo in Feb, I managed to get a $4.30 psf from Supreme. Their AC3 is around $4 psf from what I know.
  22. Me no Nearly wanted to use it for my kitchen worktop but Patrick not willing to liaise with them, and my bf doesn't want me to be the co-ordinator between Builder's Shop and Ho Bee He would rather get Patrick to do all the necessary work. Plain ones are selling at $150 psf, with good looking ones at $170 psf. I suggest you drop by their shop for a look on all the samples. Delivery cost is included but cutting one hole (sink, stove etc) is $100 each.
  23. My friend brought back a new basin to my new flat last night. He rejected the basin which the shop delivered in the afternoon, so he drove down to the shop in the afternoon to choose another unit because that shop refused to deliver the 2nd time My basin is very small, 30cm x 40cm, but it is pretty heavy to a small build woman like me If you are a strong guy and your basin is not big, then I think it is still alright
  24. Yes, I wanted my kitchen to look bright, warm and cozy. I will enjoy doing cooking in there Projected picture? I doubt Ah Keong can draw a coloured picture for me? Well, let me seek his opinion when I meet him again the next time
