  1. Btw, I just wanted to add that I just called Lifestorey today to inform them of the exact delivery date because I now have my reno schedule. The person who answered the phone (not the person who served me) was not exactly helpful. He said "Oh, we are in retail side so we cannot confirm the delivery date. We will call you". Then sounded v hurried to put down the phone. I really hate such places with bad after sales service. I was quite pissed off, so I said, "Look, we are all working adults. We need to arrange our work schedule to be at home to wait for the sofa. We can't just do it as and when you like!?" After I said that, he then became slightly more helpful. FYI, the person I bought our sofa and dining table from is called Dennis. He is much better and less "attitude". I only spoke with the other person cos Dennis was out for lunch. Hmph.
  2. Yes, I see your point. I find it very hard to believe when he told us that Mustafa sell "re-packaged' sets as well. The more logical reasoning is the fact that they sell A LOT which of course, allows them to sell it cheaper. Best thing is, Mustafa gives out vouchers which you can then use to purchase the rest of your household appliances. With regards to the warranty card, the HN salesguy also added that yes, Mustafa also give warranty but I can't quite remember the reasoning he gave. Simply put, I don't think it's right to spread such rumours (if they're not real and have no evidence) because it's just unethical lah. I'm also left wondering how many customers he has told this "story" to.
  3. Sighs. Sounds like no one uses Tamco! Now I'm wondering if I should switch to Elmark.....
  4. Oh dear. Sorry to read about your predicament. When you signed on the receipt, did you check for the correct model number? I'm just guessing that if it's in black-and-white (as in, you already signed for the "wrong" model), it's probably going to be difficult to prove that what you wanted to buy was the FULL HD model. Unless there were witnesses who were present at that time. I hope it gets sorted out soon. All the best! Btw, when I told the HN salesguy at the Sin Expo Fair that we checked out the tv sets at Mustafa as well and they were cheaper, he told me that many of them are not first-hand! According to him, they are tv sets that have been sent back to the supplier for repairs. The original owners are then given a brand new set and the supplier will then "clean up" the "old" set and pass it to Mustafa to sell?!!? That was his explanation as to why they can sell so cheap. I honestly find it a bit hard to believe though. Anyone heard such stories?
  5. How much is a table at Four Seasons? Anyone has comments?
  6. We bought the Series 5. I think it depends on the model because the older Samsung HD LCD models are going at very low prices too.
  7. Erm, branded pillows (or fridge or tv or anything else) pretty much means anything that has a brand. If the brand is well known, am sure they'd already advertise it! It's a marketing strategy
  8. For those looking to buy a TV set, go check out the HN sale @ Sin Expo. Very good deals. They are throwing in Robinsons vouchers as well as free gifts (i.e. home theatre system). We bought a 40" Samsung LCD tv for $2599 with $500 Robinsons voucher and home theatre set.
  9. Notice not many people have mentioned LG? It's pretty cheap for a front load. Anyone using LG or has comments about it?
  10. We just bought 2 Tamco fans. (1.2m in diameter, 48", 3 blade). We were looking for a plain, simple white fan. It does not come with a remote control but comes with the dial which can be mounted beside your light switches. We learnt that for remote control fans, they usually only come with 1 year warranty but the ones w/o remote controls are covered longer. Something like that, I can't quite remember. Also, these fans don't have the string dangling down which I don't like We got each for $135. Is that a decent price? We got taken to the shop by our ID and honestly, haven't heard of Tamco. Comments about it? Did we pay too much?
  11. I'd like to highlight something further. I think 'pocket springs' and 'individual pocket springs' are different? Someone correct me if I am wrong. A lot of mattresses on the market today are pocket springs, as with many years ago. But I believe individual pocket springs, only Simmons and Dunlopillo has it. At least this is what I gather from all my hours of research

    Nice Wallpaper?

Yes, this is indeed a valid point. I am also considering wallpaper for my new home but have been cautioned about our weather. Because of our very high levels of humidity, wallpapers may not last very long (i.e. 10 years or more). Unless of course, you turn on the air conditioner all the time which lessens the humidity factor in your home. Also, the size of the wall plays a part. If it's only a small wall, this shouldn't be a big problem but do consider properly if it's a HUGE wall or many walls (i.e. all the walls in the living room). Not sure how true this is so when you're buying wallpaper, you might like to check this out with the wallpaper company.

    Europe

Insight Vacations is a land tour operator for Europe. This means they operate the entire tour EXCEPT the air tickets portion. Yes, it is definitely more expensive than the usual locally-packaged tours by travel agents (i.e. Chan Bros, Hong Thai, SA Tours, etc) but it is also of a completely different experience. They have 2 types of tours - The Premium and the Budget. If you can afford it, go for the premium because hotels, etc are all centrally-located and you can always do your own thing after the tour ends in the late evening. Btw, there is a reason why tours are cheap. The main "cost components" are : - Accommodation (central city hotel vs far flung hotel) - Meals (good restaurant food/3 course meals vs cheap food/1 course with no choice) - Entrance fees to attractions (included vs not included) A lot of the local tours are cheap UPFRONT because a lot of entrance fees are NOT included. E.g. You go to Eiffel Tower but you don't get to go UP to the 2nd level because going up cost money. E.g. At museums, you get to skip the long queues and get a guided tour of the whole place. A lot of local tours don't bring you in or it's an optional. In a nutshell, it really depends on what you are looking for. Some people just want to breeze through everything and go shopping. For that, DON'T take the Insight tour. Go with the locally run tours. If you want to appreciate Europe as it is (i.e. the museums, the local food, etc), go with a European tour operator. Also, if you want time to explore on YOUR OWN at your OWN TIME, don't take a tour. But remember, you'd need a lot of time to plan and book on your own through the internet. This can get frustrating. When you book a tour, all you need to do is pack your bags and follow! Hope the above helps! If you want to know more, can PM me or just reply here PS. I have been in the travel industry for a while now, hence all that information above. Actually, my fiance and I went to Tokyo and Kyoto on our own. We just book the air tickets and did everything else online. We only bought the 3D2N package for Kyoto from JTB. Everything else was done online It's really easy and such travelling is fun because you can stop anytime you like, eat anywhere you like, do anything you like, and most importantly for me, wake up anytime I like!!
  14. Yes, I totally agree with you. That's what we are considering too, a King size. Actually, we just returned from Furniture Mall's Dunlopillo Suite. We bought: - Ambrosia mattress (12" King size) - Bedframe (Arcadia, dark brown) Cost is S$2599 nett We managed to get the following thrown in: - 2 white cloud pillows - 1 bolster - 1 King-size mattress protector Also managed to a Visco pillow (those memory form type, like Tempur) for half price at $49 (instead of $98). Phew. I am glad that I no longer need to do any more research on mattresses, etc.
  15. Wow. That is a lot of money to pay for a mattress! Then again, I saw a S$23,000 mattress at the Dunlopillo Suite at Furniture Mall. Just had to lie on it to see how it feels. Hehehe.
  16. Well, as I have mentioned above, the cuckoo guy is not exactly a contractor. He's the guy in charge of the condo for the first year to fix defects, etc. Isn't it ironic that he himself created a **** BIG DEFECT?!?!?!? What piss me off is, if he don't know how to install, then tell me! I will get my own ID to install once the actual renovations start (i.e. once all the bloody defects are done!!). But nooo, he loves to say "can! can!" but always turn out "cannot! cannot!". I talk about it, my blood boil can!? Of course, there'd be holes on the tiles. But if I were to ask him to change them, he probably doesn't have the skill/capability to do it and I just KNOW that he will bloody mess them up, i.e. crack up the rest of the tiles on the wall. We're literally caught between a rock and a hard place. Literally. Wah lau! They win!!! Colour blindness? Such incidents really make me wonder if such people (1) don't actually have a brain (2) don't want to use their brain (3) can't be bothered (4) all of the above.
  17. I just came back from our new place. As expected, the guy say no more tiles so cannot replace. He gave me some long story about using some random thing to patch the hole, etc etc. To be honest, I'm soooo tired of dealing with this. First, the tiles were cracked and it took FOREVER for them to FINALLY replace them. Now this. I really want to I told him I want to see everything changed back to the correct height with the holes patched up properly by weekend. We shall see......
  18. LOL! You all very funny. Yes, I am f***ing pissed. Been a long time since I used so many f*** word in one sentence when I saw it. Tonight, am going to tell him to move it. And mind you, this guy is not even our contractor per se. He's the guy in-charge at the condo. We already had the bathroom tiles REDONE (hack and redo!) so this is already the newer set of tiles. So hor, once he moves it, there'd be holes right? WTFFFFFFF.
  19. Hey, we're looking for a white marble coffee table too. Not easy to find a nice one. I think generally, anything made of marble will cost quite a bit. But even without price consideration, it's still super hard to find a nice one!!
  20. Hey, thanks so much for your positive feedback. I am going to purchase the mattress this weekend. Have tried loads and still like the one I tested at the showroom. Now, just have to make a decision whether to get a King or a Queen.
  21. Have a look at this picture. Can you tell what's wrong with it? The !@#$%^^&* contractor installed the shower bar waaaaaay too high for any normal human usage. We're not Yao Ming. Not sure why he thought we were 2 metres tall. Ok, it was our fault for ASSUMING that he knew the CORRECT height to install it but still!!!!! And do you notice that the soap container is ABOVE the shower head? This is WRONG too because you'd be adjusting the shower head more than the soap container. Where's the common sense?! I now have to get them to move the bar downwards and there'd be holes in the tiled wall. Just thought I'd post this up to share my frustration (blood want to come out of ears already!) and to perhaps warn home-owners to PLEASE highlight this to your contractors. DO NOT ASSUME they know the correct height.
  22. I have since learnt, from all the research, that when they say promotion, you can go back and they'd still sell you the same price. That's why it is important to do your research, go back many times (if they want your business, they'd entertain you) and only purchase when you've really researched everything you can and is 90% sure that it's a good deal. That's a personal experience. And yes, it is indeed very tiring.
  23. Hi all, I have been surfing this site to find out information about mattresses as we are in the process of acquiring one. Lots of information on the 3 "S" - Serta, Simmons and Sealy as well as King Koil, etc but I haven't been able to find much info on users of Dunlopillo mattresses. We have been to the Dunlopillo Suite showroom at Furniture Mall and are 90% close to buying the showroom-only "Ambrosia" mattresses. Q-size Bed frame + Ambrosia mattress = S$2099 nett. We've been Dunlopillo mattress users, are you out there?
  24. We bought it a couple of weeks ago but i think they are having a sale again. Saw the ad in today's ST. Go check it out. But from the ad, it looks like the items on promotion are bedsheets, quilts, etc. Can't remember the size we bought but it was the larger of the 2 available.
  25. Phew. Thanks for all the comments! It's good to hear that they provide good service. Reading horror stories on this site about no-show deliveries made me slightly nervous. Hehe. My home is not ready yet (currently undergoing renos) so we might have to move the delivery date as well
