Both autosol and brasso do not work on plated finishing material to give a shinning surface. Brasso works on brass or bronze material where it do not have a layer of protective coat. If you use Brasso or autosol to polish your plated lockset without finishing it with a protective coat, your lockset rust faster.

Till one day, I heard noise of mending the water pipe at my upper floor and the noise is gone. Your case, it could be your leaking tap,maybe it's the white tape worn off. Turn off your main water suppy, remove your tap, check the rubber lining. There's no need to change new tap, just replace the worn out lining, if any and have the tap tighten, you need to use those white tape on the screw thread.

One is laminated ply and the one is solid timber, the construction is different. If laminated ply with framed, the joining of the laminate is very obvious and quite sharp. For use of solid timber, it might warp or crack, so it needs to have the frame Even the type of hinges use is limited.
