Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

No special skill required but you will need to ensure that the drilled holes use the appropriate mounting plugs (weight-wise) to hold the screws. You may need additional bracing behind the feature wall to better hold the screws. Do a search on Google for tips and procedures on how to carry this job out.

You will also need a leveling device to ensure that the mount is secured parallel to the floor.

i mounted my lcd myself and the best advice would be to get a friend to help.

an extra pair of hands can hold the bracket in the desired spot while you drill pilot holes into the feature wall.

last but not least u will need help to carry the lcd if its bigger than 32"

can ask the supplier of the tv to install for u?

its not so easy to mount yourself..

1st, drilling hole need the "water level" instrument to make sure the water level is not slanted.if slanted means your wall mount device is drilled slanted

2nd, if u r mounting 37" and above, u really need 2 person. (1person to direct the location,1person to carry and mount)

now my problem is getting bigger. cos i intend to do it on the feature wall. and my dad says that the feature wall is unable to support my 40inch sony lcd tv. he says it will fall out cos the feature wall is not strong enough to hold the tv. so he suggesting to put on top on the console. then it defeated my purpose of doing a tv feature wall. how how? should i drill on it (initially intended) or just put on top on console :jawdrop:

I think you need to find out what is the feature wall made of and how the feature wall is secured to the concrete wall behind. If you ran electrical cables behind the feature wall, you need to find out their positions as well. To be safe, I think you should get your renovator to do it.

I wanted to mount an LCD TV on the partition wall in my living room. Although my contractor said he do not expect any problems, I did not went ahead with the idea because the TV wall mount bracket are not installed onto the wooden studs of the partition wall and that there are electrical wires in the partition wall.

as I was reading this, somehow delirious_jeff came into my mind abt mounting on some board. :notti:

sorry to say, but I learned from reading all these, convinced me to give up the idea of feature wall. Saved cost and potential mounting issues like these. But don't be despair, see from magazines got those really nice feature wall... must be wallpaper, and must be super ex, but well, they are indeed nice.

hmmm..my toshiba tv was installed by a separate company specialised in installing tv. His installation charges is abt $50. (cant remember). They are quite experienced, so they may know which kind of feature wall suits the tv..maybe you can try to source out for this type of people to help u? at first when i install my 37" tv, i also suspect whether can the feature wall strong enough to hold it.

most people will have that thoughts, but probably only the experts who are in this line knows?

probably just get the ID who built the feature wall to mount for u? 40" TV 40+ kg leh. how to handle yrself. u didnt tell yr ID the feature wall has to support wall mounted 40" TV?? if yes he would have catered better materials for u to support the weight. is there already a big hole for the cables to come out behind the TV?

I had a partition wall fixed up for fengshui purposes. Also, all the wirings to the lightings in the false ceiling in the living room converged to the switches on the partition wall. So, there are no electrical wire trunking visible in this portion of the apartment.

Many of my friends have feature walls in the their living room. Some of the feature walls are made of solid plywood (probably because the feature wall need to support the suspended TV console), while some others sounded hollow inside.

Yes, definitely get help when trying to mount the tv on your own. Last night, my fiance and I had to rewire some of the cables and he alone had to carry the very heavy 40" tv while I fiddled with the wires at the back of the tv. Very tiring for him!

Must have at least 2 persons. You don't wanna drop it accidentally! :jawdrop:

I did see a picture from this forum before but can't remember the post or what search keywords I used.

It showed a picture of a LCD or was it a Plasma TV that came off a feature wall and smashed through a coffee table, taking part of the feature wall along with it...nasty.

:jawdrop: Oooh, THAT is indeed very nasty. And that's exactly what I'm hoping anyone trying to self-install their tv set on their feature NOT do. I don't even wanna begin the kind of heartache that will follow after. Out of curiousity, I'm quite sure the warranty doesn't covered a smashed-up tv due to own negligence?
