Been a bit busy with shopping for all the barang barangs for new home so didn't update this blog.

Reno has been quite smooth until now. The reno will probably finish in the next couple of weeks. So got to start getting all the nitty gritty stuff -- pails, mops, detergents, racks, etc. These stuff were grossly overlooked and we were in a loss. Luckily most of these can be bought at the friendly hardware shop nearby or NTUC, so it's not exactly a big deal.

Back to the reno. Quite a lot of progress now. Most of the carpentry are already up.

MBR Toilet Vanity - We changed the vanity top but used back the stock tap that HDB provided. It looks quite out-of-place. We'll probably change the tap next time when we have time. Meanwhile, got to make do with it

Ceiling Fan is up - Did I mention that the fan was purchased by K who went into JB over the weekend? Bought the fan at almost half the price of what is sold here.

hihi,

i'm interested in your shoe cabinet. May i knw how much were you quoted?

Some revised drawings. Most of the item has been finalised.

TV console + feature wall --> Lengthened the feature wall to 7ft. We also decided to do a custom made tv console. <b>PASS!</b>

<img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a265/laiwh/tv_kevin_411afernvale_c.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Bomb Shelter feature wall + Shoe Cabinet --> doesn't differ much from the original proposed design. We decided to leave the other wall of the bomb shelter as it is, as proposed by K. We can use that wall to put some nice photo frames and pic on it. <b>PASS!</b>

<img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a265/laiwh/shoe_kevin_411afernvale_c.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

MBR Wardrobe --> we changed the design of the laminate. <b>PASS!</b>

<img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a265/laiwh/mbr_kevin_411afernvale_c.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

MBR Toilet --> We will get rid of the stock vanity top and basin. It'll be replaced with white solid surface top with an after-market basin. Hope I can snap a pic of that basin and post it here. <b>PASS!</b>

<img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a265/laiwh/mbath_kevin_411afernvale_c.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Kitchen Cabinet --> We totally changed the colour scheme of the kitchen cabinet. We decided to go for pearl white so that the pathetic kitchen will project a slightly spacious visual effect. <b>PASS!</b>

<img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a265/laiwh/kit_kevin_411afernvale_c.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

We have asked K to include the false ceiling & L-box in the drawings. Hopefully we'll get to see it soon.

We'll most probably be replacing the stock living room tiles because ceramic tiles can trap dirt so it has to be mopped properly and regularly. I don't think we have that kind of discipline <img src="http://www.renotalk.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bleah.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bleah:" border="0" alt="bleah.gif" /> We'll decide after we see the quotation that includes the flooring.

Arrgh....forgot to talk to K about the MBR toilet door problem. Got to bug him tomorrow again <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/notti.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":notti:" border="0" alt="notti.gif" />

Overall, we are well on schedule. Reno is good to start by the time we collect the keys. Hopefully our unit has little or not defect like our fellow neighbours <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sport-smiley-018.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sport-smiley-018:" border="0" alt="sport-smiley-018.gif" />

I think it's the angle that i first took the pic of the tiles last time <img src="http://www.renotalk.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

oh i see.... glossy is nicer.... haiz... but i choose matt.

I think you make a good choice may dream, because matt finishing has lower reflection which will cause less heat and glare inside your home..:)

Since I'm quite free at the office now, just thought of starting this blog to keep track of my reno progress.

CS project is completing soon. Key distribution has started recently. For myself, I will probably get to touch the keys next year -- Q1 2011.

Have already started the design works with my ID. Will slowly upload the drawings that have been proposed both by ID and myself. Not yet finalized, but slowly and surely, we are getting there.

So to kickstart the blog, I'll start with the floor plan:

<img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a265/laiwh/floorplan.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Basically it's a 4-rm unit tucked at one corner of Sengkang. Floor area is about 92sqm (internal)

I'll try to upload the drawings and stuff later when I have a little more "privacy" <img src="http://www.renotalk.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Hi Laiwh,

HOw to upload pictures in here ya??? I keep failed...:((((

reno is wrapping up with some nitty gritty touching up to be done.

Overall, this reno journey has been a rather smooth one, thanks to K! thumbs up for u!! Sorry for the SMSes and calls to you late at night. Can't imagine how I can manage all these by myself..hehelike-1.gif

Here's some pic of the finished product.

Living room everything done, waiting for sofa's arrival on Tuesday. Keeping my fingers crossed for the "safe arrival" or the sofa!

The clock was done up while waiting for the series of deliveries today because CO and myself were simply bored to death.

Dining table arrived. Coffee table should have arrived with the dining table but we cancelled the order and requested for a refund because they claim that the coffee table is out of stock even though we booked the coffee table more than 2 months ago. They were also unable to provide a confirmed arrival date of the coffee table, so I decided to cancel it and look for another one rather than waiting blindly for this current one.

MBR

Bedframe and mattress arrive

Initially, after we placed our order and deposit for the bedframe at a furniture show at expo, we read some negative comments about this shop and were rather worried that we will encounter problem with delivery or having defective item delivered. But luckily it came in good condition and delivery was as planned.

IMG_2913.jpg

Curtains up -- Other than some minor screw up of the scheduling, everything else was rather smooth. Installation was done in about 30min.

Our last batch furnitures were deliveries today.

Sofa - Actually I had read some bad comments about the shop from which I bought the sofa. But we still decided to take the risk because we couldn't find other sofa that has such high backrest and of this kind of design. Luckily things all go smoothly and items arrive in good condition.

By the way, I did some modification to the clock because I thought the clock looks rather boring. Hope the decals stick there properly over time.
