Electrical Work Pricing

Recommended Posts

Hi coolerpod,

Thank you for your message! :) I tried to reply you but your inbox is full.

My ID is actually charging me $450 for the db box, so I thought it is too expensive for just one little box. Did hear of people being charged for the amount you mentioned but not sure how true. Did you renovate your place using an ID but use the mentioned electrician separately?

u serious?? i was told by my electrician one DB box costs around $60+ from hardware shops

certainly looks expensive. u might want to look for a electrician directly instead of thru a ID. I was told that electricans hold the HDB licence in their own name, so in this case, ID is just a middle man.

btw,is your quote backed with a electrical floor plan showing the lighting points and switches? or a rough gauge?

the quote was sent to us by our ID, so not sure whether its a direct quote by the electrician which was marked up already, or he sent to the ID and they marked up before sending to us. There was no electrical floor plan.......

Hi, you should draw up an electrical plan, where to put all the lighting points and all ur electronic appliances, etc.

A detailed plan is a must, your ID should be doing it for you and your selection of lights as well. Lighting is an important part in the design of the house.

Im got an electrician to help me rewire the whole house, he gave me a detailed list of stuff to buy. He supply labour, i supply materials. So he charging me for labour only.

Will start work in around 2-3wks time, keeping my fingers crossed and busy scouting for materials for the time being.

ID need to earn so they will mark up a bit. If overall u are happy with the ID services, just let them do the coordination and earn a bit more. U will also gain more than finding a direct electrician cos u don't need to coordinate the electrician yourself.
