I also want to get some feedback on the Simmons Backcare 3 mattress. Read from some reviews that the backcare series is not very durable. Is this true? Anyone can help?

I placed an order of a sofa set, coffee table and tv console from Furniture Collection Centre (FCC) at Sungei Kadut on 20 August. Delivery date was set to be 16 October and i was assured that the furniture will be shipped in way before the set delivery date and that they would be kind enough to store the furniture in their own warehouse as my new home was not ready yet. 1 week before the delivery date, I received a call from a staff informing me that the shipment had been delayed. She apologised for the delay but when I asked her why it was delayed, she made it seem as if it was my fault. She said that I should have asked for an earlier delivery date (which was not possible as renovations for my home would not have been completed by then). A few days later, I went down to the shop to discuss with the boss regarding compensation for the delay. The boss REFUSED to acknowledge my existence and carried on talking to her own staff! I was attended by another staff member who promised to give me 2 PATHETIC pillows as compensation upon the delivery. She even promised to deliver the coffee table and tv console 1 day earlier than the delivery date of 16 October but the sofa set was still delayed though. The cofee table was delivered at 11pm on a weekday when it was promised to be delivered after 6pm. I had to work the next day and i was already getting ready to sleep! The promised tv console was said to be defective and so i did not receive it as well. 2 weeks later, i received my sofa set and the tv console but NO COMPENSATED PILLOWS came along!!! And up till then, i did not receive any apology from the boss herself. As fate would have it, the cheque that i issued for the balance of the payment bounced. A staff member called me to discuss alternative modes of payment and we made an agreement that i would issue another cheque in 2 week's time (i could pay any time but i would just like them to have a taste of having the payment delayed, as of how i would feel having my furniture delayed). That same night at 11pm, the boss came banging on my door demanding payment! She was causing a disturbance and i felt very much threatened as she was physically very much bigger than me. At the same time, she was embarrassing me in front of my new neighbours! My brother was worried for my safety and advised me to settle the payment, which i did the next day itself. i am just sharing my experience with you so that you will not experience the same thing. Not only did they delay the delivery of my furniture, they did not even bother to apologise and expected me to be gracious about it. I am the customer afterall! How can a customer be treated this way? So, if you intend to buy anything for there, think twice and do not be fooled by their initial bout of friendliness.

Hey guys, I moved to my new home n got those bolt less metal racks with wooden planks for the bomb shelter abt 9 mths ago. Few mths ago realized that the wooden plans got really mouldy, so I wiped the planks clean. But recently I checked n found that the planks got really mouldy again! So I tried using bleach-based mould cleaner to clean the planks, but I'm still really worried that the mould will come back. I'm not sure if it is due to the wooden planks or because the bomb shelter is nex to the rarely used guest toilet. Would appreciate if anyone can advise if i should juz switch to metal planks? If yes, do those companies only sell the metal planks, or I muz buy an entire new set of racks? Thx!

More updates!! So we submitted our HDB defects list previously and the first round of defects has been rectified and signed off. However, hubby and I noticed some other defects and had to submit a second one. HDB also anyhowly rectified some of the earlier things... some can close one eye, but there's just some that cannot be accepted! HDB contractors has now successfully destroyed my electrical-media-box cabinet that came with the house. There were some scratches and dents which we told them to rectify the first time, and the contractor basically just did a lousy patch work and painted over a certain part of the white laminate. And now I can so visibly see 2 shades of white on my white cabinet door. Annoyed to the max! Gonna make sure they rectify that properly! In other news, hubby and I have been busy busy shopping around for more items for the house... and lo and behold we got 'poisoned' into buying a Boston Acoustics soundbar with subwoofer set when we visited Tampines Courts Megastore. But it was too good a deal to miss out on. The promo price was $299 for that weekend... but we paid less than the advertised price for it because the salesperson know us well from previously. Thank our lucky stars! Our intention to look see look see for a soundbar for the MBR turned out to be a purchase eventually. Haha. But we're super pleased with the purchase, considering Boston Acoustics is a much better audio brand compared to the off-the-shelf electrical brands out there. Yippee yayy!! So our new place will all be powered by Boston Acoustics speakers (for living room) and soundbar (MBR) and subwoofers... lol. We have also been sourcing around for curtains and grilles. Tay Boon Huat renovate contractors are different from TBT works. Just in case people get confused out there ok! We got an extremely competitive and good pricing for horizontal aluminium Grilles from Tay Boon Huat renovate contractors and will likely go with them unless the other part we are seeing this Saturday can give a better price... i doubt it though. TBT Works gave a slightly higher quote than Tay Boon Huat renovate contractors so won't go with them. For curtains, we've decided to do Black out day/night curtains for Living room and black out roman blinds for MBR. As for the other 2 common rooms, we will just do simple roller blinds. We approached Vincent (of Garvin Marting Services) who gave us a pretty good pricing so we also signed up with him. We're quite 'chop chop' that way... heehee. Will be meeting our ID again tomorrow to discuss again on some works etc... another long discussion tomorrow. Can't wait to fully rectify all defects on our place and get the reno going!

My reno is rather a simple one, i only do tv console feature wall, round l-box/false ceiling, kitchen cabinet, master bedroom wardrode, curtain and some misc stuff ^^ not much to detail down the stuff but have taken some photos. I am very tempting to get a digital lock even before i got my flat but my wife don want/like, but recently we chance upon a neighbour doing reno near her house, and we decided to kpo a bit and by chance that owner is using a digital lock and the neighbour demo for us to see, i think there is a card and passcode, and if i never look properly at the digital lock, i could hardly see where to press ^^ and that is when she say "if you want then go buy loh" Haha Nope, i am at blk B ^^

The most important consideration for home networking is the location of your distribution point i.e. where all your cables start and branch out. I explained this in a bit more detail here: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/62505-top-kew-drive/?p=835976 But in your case, you were converting from the existing telephone network, so your distribuiton point is in the db box as shown in your picture. The network you have is simply cables leading from the various rooms to this db box. There is no connection between these different cables. I assume you are using the SH supplied Home Gateway. Your Home Gateway is like a multi point extension cord. From one cable point split into many points (wireless plus 4 ports). The connection should be from TP to Optical port of ONT. From the ONT1 port of the ONT to the WAN port of the Home Gateway. As I said, only ONT1 is active. Then from the Home Gateway, you can connect up to 4 cables to your different rooms. Your home gateway will need to be in this db box, I guess. Once again, the connection should be: TP --> ONT --> Home Gateway --> the various cables to your various locations I do not believe it is possible to activate ONT2. That is reserved for other service providers. You can connect additional wireless routers at the various rooms. This is what I do for my house. But these routers must be set to "bridge" mode. The above is my limted understanding. I stand corrected.

It has been a long battle, spanning over 8 months before I finally took the ID company to task. The ID company which I have engaged to renovate my house did not take responsibility for the defects. Like those irresponsible company, they have thousands of reasons to push the blame to others, to change appointment as and when they want and to play the disappearing act. Many would probably have given up chasing. I have decided to persevere and I must say there's a lot of work to be done to seek compensation at Small Claims Tribunal. Just to share my experience (so that others who are in similar situation) know what to do. 1. Documentation This is very important when you are doing renovation. Everything has to be black and white. Otherwise, when things go wrong, it's your words against the ID company. Any important details in conversations can be followed up with a message. DO NOT DELETE THE CHAT HISTORY! Keep it as supporting evidence in the event you plan to file with Small Claims Tribunal. 2. Proper Procedure If you have enough nonsense from the ID company and plan to seek compensation, i.e. money order, you must prove that you have given them the time and chance to do the work (your chat history should show this). I took the following steps: 1. Communicate clearly to ID the issues at hand (e.g. What's the problem and what has not been done) 2. File with CASE (a letter will be issued, to either get the ID company to do the work or compensate) 3. Ask for 3rd party quotations 4. File with Small Claims Tribunal Be prepared to take time off to get things done. I spent 4 afternoons - CASE, first consultation, further consultation and hearing before a referee at Small Claims Tribunal. Your documents to be submitted especially the sequence of events has to be done properly. Your chat history with the ID company will be useful as you recall the details of the events. To bring ID company to task is not an easy process. Many have suffered and I strongly believe that such ID company should not be let off easily. For those who are having problems, never let it go! For my case, the court was in my favor and I managed to get the money I needed for a 3rd party to do rectification work.
