Before I share more, I'd like to find out if anybody out there changed all the pipes to PPR pipes for plumbing work and roughly how much did it cost for a house about the size of 5rm - two bathrooms, a toilet and kitchen? You can PM me if you are not comfortable stating the price here. Thanks.

WiFi Setup in the EM! I have SingTel Mio Home Bundle so I thought to have another setup box for my room as well. What I had SingTel do was to pull the Open Net point to my living room. Then pull the Cat 5E cable up from the balcony to my master window and to my designated TV point. Installed 2 data points which will be connected from the living room ONT point. So what this means is -> my ground floor has 2 data points - 1 for the Access Point and 1 for the MiO. There is one more port for the ONT. For my 2nd level, I have 2 data points and 1 is plugged into the Access Point and 1 for my MiO. My speed now is 197MB!! tested around the 2nd floor and voila ! Was trying to avoid repeaters so this was the best option I could think of ! With the 2 Access Points, means I have 2 separate WiFi for my ground and 2nd Level. Wrote this with excitement so if you have questions let me know!

After shifting in for 4 mths now, we are still thinking of ways to further improve our home. So we have painted canvas pictures to hang on walls Watched many tutorials and videos on how to paint this "realistic" sunny side ups and we started with this. And finally to this... ...

Not putting the dishwasher rack cover due to 2 reasons. Firstly, the cover look will not go well with this laminate. Secondly, we are lazy people.. keep opening and closing the cover just to get cups or plates. Most probably we will leave it open permanently if there's a cover. The drawer dimension is "Small for the top, Medium for the rest below". The top will be used to put those utensils, therefore small size will be maximizing the space efficiency. The initial concern of having ugly disproportionate drawers prove to be unfounded. In fact, I find it look nicer with this "Small Medium Medium Medium" configuration.

It seems like you are comparing the price of a drawer system and a drawer track. A drawer system comes in the form of an entire drawer minus the front panel. A track is just a track. Just call them and clarify.

I have been revisiting your tblog. Your new home looks really beautiful. Also, it seems to me it is as spacious as what was depicted in the 3D drawings. How nice. My favourite is the harmonious blend of your woody cabinet laminates.

I have finally moved in on the first day of Oct 2014! .. I hope I can stop surfing the reno forums, checking out public toilet tiles and cafe deco... I think I have built an extra sensor for that since the start of my reno .. Hahaha.. It is an addiction and I need my life back!! Nevertheless, home decoration seemed like a continuous effort.. .. Next need to concentrate on how to operate the new appliances that I got and of course... Unpacking! It might take another 2 months I suppose? Hahah

In all honesty, initially when all the carpentry came in (as it is a huge bulk), there were some flaws like e.g. my walk-in-wardrobe had slight shape edges at some sides and a little bit of paint stuck on to two boards before installation of the shoe cabinet doors because apparently the painter didn't know it wasn't dried yet and stacked it together. There was also a small chip at the bottom board of the shoe cabinet but after that I realised Contractor J actually knew about all these and promptly got his workers to fix everything a couple of days later. The finishing for all the renovation is really really good, especially my kitchen and shoe cabinets. The frames for my shoe cabinets isn't easy to make and it takes a very skilled carpenter to align the black frames in synchronization and then piece them up together such that they are 'complete' - when the doors came in pieces I was still worried but after they fixed up everything and I slide my fingers through their workmanship, I realised it's so good and smooth I'm more than satisfied and delighted. I met contractor J last weekend and he told me one of my friends mentioned that the quote she received was a marginally expensive compared to other contractor. He explained the reason is because he does not 'cheat' on his materials. E.g. He told me other contractors use chipboard or ply wood for carpentry but he takes pride in his wood and only uses solid wood for carpentry so they last for many years or even decades to come. He also mentioned he uses original laminates from reputable companies however some contractors simply give the client the original laminate to choose - after the client choose the laminate, contractors match the colour of the laminate with china laminates which are exactly the same but of course different quality since client can't see the brand anyway after they put it up. One foot usually costs $78 for original brands like Lamitek but china brand one foot only cost $36 so they save they cost by half. But the problem with those china laminates is after a year or so, if you use chemicals such as CIF or detergent to clean them, the colour completely run and by then the contractor isn't liable to follow up or give any warranty for their work. So at the end of the day, is "one cent for one cent worth of quality work" (Translate chinese) I feel going via contractor already saved us almost $10,000 so what scrimp and save on a couple of hundred or a thousand comparing contractor to contractor when the quality of work is so different. Just my two cents

Hi guys, I will just reply here since everyone's asking about the black metal rack. I bought from Shelf N Store at Toh Guan Road East at $481.10 for 2 racks to form an L-shape in my bomb shelter
