yaya, think renotalk people either Alex or George... I bought all my fans and lights from him la... 1.7k total damage.
-
Ok, i will just post here. Extreme Lighting has pretty cheap fans and they usually have a couple of sets on promotion where they buy in bulk. Usually it is the 52" and 54" that they have on promotion. Fanco 52" wooden blade I got for $120 without installation and light kit. Crestar 54" acrylic was quoted $200 without installation and light kit. My contact is Alex and you can say the guy who bought 5 fans from AMK recommend one.

Ohhh... the exact same problem as mine... my ID used the PVC strip as well... initially was wondering what they are. Apparently, it comes in only 3 colours - Black, White and Brown. Gives a nice smooth edge but not really there in terms of aesthetics. I saw some other people (maybe old style) use a row of mosaic tiles an alternative. Anyway, done already, have to close 2 eyes.

curtains very hard to share quote leh... 1) full length curtains or cute half length one like Angel's 2) Day and Night or Day only 3) Roman/Roller/Curtains 4) Different materials 5) How many windows you have. I think 4 room around 1-1.5k, 5 room 1.5k - 2k and you have a very decent selection. Can bring your floor plan and look for Lucas at Jimmy Textiles... he very efficient and can give you quote in 5 mins. mrs piglet- still trying to think of ways to prevent workers from using the toilet bowl since mine are installed already... especially big business. I am holding off installing the PD doors until most of the work is completed.... I think i will be very uncomfortable doing big business with people are passing by... hope it works!

advise is to wash once every 6 months.
-
went to Jimmy textiles last weekend... in terms of pricing - Roman Blinds > Roller Blinds > Curtains (1 set). Of course, everything got different materials and if you do Day and Night will be more expensive. Last time bought curtains that time, they explained that for curtains, other than washing to keep it clean, it is also to moisten the fabric to prevent it from drying (since exposed to sun), becoming stiff and tear easily.

our reno start same day... hope also end same day...

To clarify - $200 quoted excludes installation and lights. Installation is $30. Lights depends on which light kit you choose. pbtgal - maybe different model... anyway, the shop is having a promotion for only the 54" model. So they order in bulk and can give a better price.

Crestar can add lights. I saw a shop selling Crestar 54" acrylic blades for $200. PM me for the contact if you think it is a good deal.

Cove lighting with ceiling fan might have shadow effects sinice the lights are above the fan and cove lighting are usually directed towards the ceiling or horizontally. L box should be ok because the light is directed downwards. As streamrsz (car lover? ) mentioned, KDK fan if referring to the standard HDB one should be able to get cheaper at neighourhood shops... around $170.

Materials That U Regret Using/ Installing
zonkkie replied to st002's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
I was thinking cheap sinks are ok. Toilet bowls understand that the flushing system is important. -
Hihi... welcome to AMK. Me going to be AMKian as well... probably some time in May. For your situation regarding the late shifting out, once they hand over the keys on the 13th means that HDB will not bother about what happens in the house already. If they refuse to shift out or damage anything, it has to be a police case. In the meantime, you are already the house owner, you continue servicing the loan. Definately not recommended. Options available: 1) Ask HDB to delay the 2nd appointment to 16th May if you are willing to wait. 2) Maintain 13th May. Seller has to let buyer inspect the flat 1 more time (prior to completion). You can use that chance to ask contractor to do the measurements.

still have mould... but cannot see only.... But ya, common problem... but should be able to clean and remove the mould.
-
Cove lights can use either T5 or T8. T5 is the slimmer tube while T8 is the thicker tubes that you typically see in office. The Extreme lighting guy say T5 spoils more easily but I havent experienced it. Extreme lighting I think the popular sales people are George (older) or Alex (younger).

Angel, congrats on your "graduation"!!! Very nice without being too "showflat". Still cosy and inviting. The small touches like pictures and all can slowly slowly do... renovation is a journey.

Mine is like that.... still being built. The area that is not black is to fix the TV bracket and the TV. The cable you see is the SCV cable.
-
pd doors also have those wood looking doors which might be worth a look.

my wife reads a lot. Its a big/display shelf... think all the books we have too "ugly" to put on the shelf... seriously...haven't figured out what to put there yet. There are some that can! Or just buy those wireless one that requires batteries and take out the batteries at night!

Some updates... renovations progressing well. Tiling is done for bathroom and kitchen. Common Toilet. A bit dark, so not very clear on the textures. Master's Bathroom Some carpentry are in as well. Lounge area bookshelf with cove lights on top MBR wardrobe.

ya, hope your contractor is honest. Actually, for concealed wiring, unless you have the electrical plan, very hard to quote. Some contractors will quote very low, then start work already (i.e hack) then say yours very complicated, need to do extra this and that. So need to top up. If you don't do, also no choice because they hack the wall already. Some will quote high and say will rebate... but rarely any will do.

Ya, nice unit, always love studio apartments. The layout that you have looks good. One thing that you might want to explore is to move the sofa/tv more towards the kitchen and setup a settee/reading/lounging area where the full length windows are to maximize the view (since it is partially blocked by the 2 seater now).
