Haha... my excuse for buying repros is so that I can change the item when new designs come in and won't feel a big burn in my pocket! haha... but the Magis chairs are nice too...are they priced similar to HM? Thanks for the tip...me also very lazy one... so roller blinds might just be the solution for all the windows except perhaps the bay windows in the living room Now my only regret is the aircon position in my MBR...it's placed too close to the window ledge leaving too little room for installation of any curtain... my hb said gaincity will charge us $189 for shifting of the aircon position...now to do or not to do??? sighz My carpentry has finally begun! The HOUSE is beginning to fill up and I await the day I can finally call it a HOME. Yay! Partially done feature wall in living room Partially done WIW and other loose parts awaiting installation Finally, aircon problem is fixed and everything is working. Pic shows aircon compressor Plumber changed all the ugly PVC pipes to stainless steel type. He even installed a tap for the common shower head. All these weren't in our original quote so we're happy for the little extras. -

Thanks porkypig! I was thinking along similar lines as well. Any comments on whether roman or roller blinds are better? Bad news... Our MBR wall is leaking water!! There seems to be a crack on one of the beams and it stretches all the way outside of the flat... contacted HDB who told us that they will send someone to patch it up but that's hardly a long term solution. Our case is currently being referred to the Town Council and so we wait for the final verdict.................................................... Does anyone know what our 'rights' are in such cases where defects are structural? Are we offered compensation/free repair etc? -

My hb took leave today to oversee the installation of the aircon and gas pipes plus receive our order of the kitchen sink and cooker hob & hood... It was a rather eventful day and my poor hb is tired out... hug... Alas... some things didn't go as planned... 1. Aircon in MBR couldn't work - aircon guy says it's likely to be a defective unit so had to get main office to solve the problem 2. Aircon in MBR installed too close to the window - that made installation of curtains not possible...see how we can move it to a new position. 3. Cooker hob and hood didn't arrive! - after a phonecall...the lady made a mistake with my delivery date... she thought it was 6th Nov when it should have been 6th Oct... Anyway... here are more pictures to capture the moment. Aircon trunking in MBR toilet leading out to unit in MBR Aircon trunking running along corridor into study room Gas piping in kitchen -
Yeah...agree that designs are not bad but colours can be bolder or more vibrant? White kitchen ah... nice if you don't mind the cleaning... But it's really up to individual taste lah... By the way, the kitchen width is pretty narrow, might want to consider how much walking space is left if you are going to have the protruding L-shape for the kitchen sink. Another thing...the toilet tiles you have are the orange and peach ones from the original flats...for mine, HDB actually changed it to the grey version. If you don't mind the grey ones and HDB can change them for you FOC, you can save quite a bit on your reno costs. Just a suggestion.

No lah...not drill the floor, he was drilling some holes on one of the kitchen wall...I think prob to place some brackets for the wiring to the kitchen electrical points or something... Just a very small update this weekend cos all the tiled and laminated flooring kenna covered up for the painting works starting this week so cannot take the pics. Anyway, just 2 pics on our ceiling works to share...nothing much probably but good to capture some memories here anyway Showing 1 of 2 strips of false ceiling in the MBR where 6 PLC downlights will be installed Living room L-box where 8 PLC downlights will be installed Can I ask for some opinions from you guys? What kind of curtains do you think I should put in my MBR? Full-length, half-length, roman blind, roller blind etc..? I have some pics of my room for you to see. There are 2 sets of windows. Bigger window in MBR (windows stretch entirely to the left) Small window in MBR We don't normally use aircon a lot, probably less than 1 month a year. Will that also be a consideration in choice of curtain type and material used? -
Very bright and cheery! Will be happy whilst taking baths!

Hi welcome! I agree it's a nice layout. What does HS stand for? And what is the yard? To me it's either a unit of measurement or something found on a ship to support the mast... hee

He was drilling some holes for the wiring and basically didn't do it carefully, so the tiles cracked. Sighz... -

Haha..ok ok...coming soon...must find some time to go and take pictures in the day...been very busy lately... -
Nice design! I particularly like the mosaic tiled pillars at the entrance...it is a refreshing change from mosaic tiles commonly found in toilets. More pics please!
-
I have decided to go for a PD door, frosted glass i think. It will slide halfway in and then open outwards. You can either opt for the same or choose a normal glass door that opens outwards.
-
Yup, def the same shop... their stuff is nicer in terms of design but I think their prices quite ex lor...tried to bargain my best liao and still a lot more compared to other shops...oh well...buy already so mai hiam lah... I saw that your bathroom is full glass...see-through eh... cool! I also wanted that design but then our bathroom faces the window means other ppl can see...boo!
-
Orh... yeah lah...agree with your wife that not too convenient if the dish rack is diagonally above the sink... Me thinks your idea of placing a normal sink beside the stove is more practical ($ saving)... and your wife can have what she wants. Nice house layout by the way, really envious cos the rooms are all very spacious with no funny corners, narrow corridors or weird beams/columns.
-
Yeah...the individual room dimensions are the same except for the overall arrangement. I also notice you have that funny narrow walkway into the MBR like mine... very horrible... I dun like it at all You have any plans to hack the walls there? Keeping your balconey or hacking it also? We should meet up to exchange tips...haha
-
How about you don't hack the entire wall? Perhaps you can just hack half of the wall and glass it up to still give it an open-concept feel, avoiding the place where the column is? Is this possible?
-
Welcome! Looking forward to mroe of your inputs.

Song Cho makes stainless steel kitchens. The product is a Jap brand and apprently a household name there...it is really nice but also comes with a nice price. I think around 15K for a 20ft kitchen. If got money really worth it coz it's state of the art, all cabinets come with hydraulic opening-closing systems, lots of hidden cabinets that save space, easy to clean surfaces and even a sink which (believe it or not) is so silent that you can't hear the splash when the tap is running...

In today's episode of renotalk...we shall look at more pictures of the renovation progress... Nicely flushed tiling for one of the most challenging parts of the house...the horrible HDB installed grills at the bay window... house owners of similar units in the same area complained as their tiles had to be recessed downwards leaving a gap that easily collects dust. Of course...the tradeoff to this was a small curb that had to be placed where the kitchen tiles meet the living room tiles. Nonetheless...owners are happy! Tiles nicely flushed The kitchen-living room curb Bedroom laminates waiting to be installed Ceiling works just started... Metal frame for L-box **** room Metal frame for false ceiling at entrance foyer Pieces of L-box waiting to be installed at dining area L-box up (above MBR feature wall) Cracked tile - electrician's boo boo... ID told us she will 'settle' will him and rectify the problem Wah...a bourgie table lamp...nice... I love things from Kartell too!! My even fatter wish is to buy a Karte;; Black Victoria Ghost chair and a Herman Miller ergonomic chair for the study room. -
Love your orange kitchen cabinets...coolness!
-
I don't think my lobang is the cheapest but just some pricing as a guide... crestar 56 and 48 inches ceiling fan in silver and black cost $480 and $430 before discount. Ceiling downlights around $40 each and halogen light $25. All from *** at Balestier.
-
Ah...welcome! Looking forward to your entries.. what's your floorplan like?

Hi, I bought my sofa from Red Apple too.. the sales ppl know their delivery got problem, usually it's the logistics side that screw up cos they import their furniture from HK. Anyway, they are a bit kiasu now and will make sure they indent their stock way in advance of the agreed delivery date. My sofa arrived like 3 weeks ago and I don't even need it till Nov! Of course...my hb worry if it's the right sofa! We wun know until they deliver...haha -
