  1. thanks de_Pierre! I got some help from an old apek at Kitchener Road Plaza. He asked me to go to this "full of locks" shop located just opposite sim lim tower. Got the replacement for $7.50. I'm sure it's expensive but i guess it's worth it coz I can hardly find such thing in Singapore.
  2. locksmith only knows how to open locks....which to certain extend...I was also trained to do the trick. They dun stock up locks...... alright, going to try my luck at Jalan Besar and see how....dunno if HDB can help or not...I dun mind to pay...
  3. how come I can't view all the sub posts? it always give me error...
  4. the lock seems spoilt....but I can't find any replacement from all the hardware shop I went....any idea where to find the replacement part for this? thanks!
  5. wah, price all went up high high......
  6. why do you need this for? super high end home theater? recently I kena once case where contractor's concealed power extension is not able to support big flow of current.....as a results I almost spoilt my video scaler.....
  7. i think it depends on your overall design. for darker color, granite could be a better option, but for pale color scheme, solid surface actually gives you better overall maintenance and outlook, scratch is almost invisible for example those volcano series from Lucky Goldstar (not sure about year 2008 models). If you have a crack, you may need to change the whole granite or seal it up with cements (ugly right?) but for solid surface, you just need to seal it up with the left over solid surface (but not all would give you extra for such purpose).
  8. huh? why did you purchase 2 robots whereas you only need 1?
  9. i believe majority of the cost goes to labour.....if you know how to do it, you get to save some money, but for most people, it's so troublesome and what if you screw it up halfway?
  10. depending on your complexity, you would end up spending more than getting a commercial product.....
  11. roomba 580? it's the same machine as 550 560 and 570....so dun bother to spend so much money for the highest end model, only accessories are diff.....
  12. Singapore itself is almost 100% "made by" FT, including our Henry Lee. So what's the issue with FT coming in? Do not discriminate. I do agree that quite a handful of them are giving social problems, it doesn't mean without them you will have a social problem free society. Talk about HDB price, government already stated very clearly that they are not going to care about your welfare after you retired. They are not going to let you bug them for money. that's why they are promoting so hard on retirement planning. Everything has both sides. The Pro is, they dun need to worry about people abusing all these schemes, only the real needy can approach them for the real help. Afterall, you got a job, you got a place to rest, still not happy? why not join the opposition and fight?! I salute my friend who challenged the PM in AMK GRC. I hope to see similar activities in the future, provided they dun just play play show off kind of thing. Dun forget, PAP was an opposition! *too bad I am not a Singaporean.... There is another option, leave the country and pursue your own dreams anyway, to control the HDB price, very simple, stop supplying the high demand units, high demand low supply, you think the price won't go up automatically? Try calling everybody stop property trading for long period, you will know it doesn't work.....
  13. Will do so when it's done up hehe....so far we only have the TV side board delivered (the picture I showed). Still got bedframe, bed side table, grandfather chair, dressing table, multi-drawer cabinets, etc not yet delivered......all these takes time(and money).....mostly from Cottage Crafts and IKEA. I believe we still need to buy a lot more stuff to slowly deco the whole place. Sofa set was from Scanteak though.....not those full fabric type....
  14. I noticed a lot of people not paying attention to their AV wires etc. wouldn't that spoil the whole theme? If you decided to wall mount your TV, you can have a backing to hide your wires. If you're into Home Theater, the rear speakers shall be connected through wireless adapter or simply just go without physical surrounds. Otherwise, you can get a TV sideboard to hold everything.... our is more towards the French country theme.
  15. how much does the project cost? we eventually got quite a lot of furnitures from Cottage Crafts after inspecting the quality from Eco-Link.......so suggest you guys dun just look at the outcome, materials and workmanship does count a lot......
  16. use wireless connection for rear speakers lar, best !!!
  17. hansolo76, perhaps you haven't imported enough stuff the chances of getting a lemon is very very slim......if iRobot kind of business is profitable enough, I can sweep ackerman in 2 months. If you look at their monthly sales data, i think you may want to faint...... anyway, they must be doing this as a sideline.....the worst distributor state.....macam boh service like that lor....
  18. are you pretty/handsome? he's trying to smoke you through......with smelly "sweet talk"... Warranty, I think iRobot direct is faster and more complete, there are incidents where users reported battery failure and iRobot simply send them a whole new set Cheaper to buy spare parts? ask him to give me 100 lists, I will show him 100/100 are more expensive if I were to buy from him. Cheaper to send for repair? Who needs a repair within warranty period? Is it really worth to "repair"? Simply buy the parts to replace the malfunction one from iRobot/Ebay etc at a much lower price and faster turn around time. Special discounts for NEW STUFF? Look at their website please, you tell me if that's called "updated" or not.... There is absolutely no benefits/incentives to buy iRobot locally. Let's see how soon they will die off, please do not support them, they are out there to suck you dry only...... either the salesman is so naive to believe whatever his company told him, or he's too lazy to find out the fact, or he simply want to chat with you for fun and hope to close a sales.....that's all..... anyway, paypal protects you for up to USD2000 for anything bought from ebay USA.
  19. wow, how much does it cost? did you do it yourself?
  20. 550 landed singapore? I thought that's a model exclusively done for HSN?
  21. just use the transformers, modding is really taking your own risk menz....
  22. it's really up to you. my advice is either go for 100% acrylic or just get the cheapest one. It's just happened that I picked the design from LG and it is 100% acrylic but no others. patching is needed when there is crack, grinding is done when it's uneven or your solid surface really full of scratches. Aiya, just go to any fast food restaurant and look at their sales counter lor, mostly acrylic one, no matter how scratched it is, it will be like those lar.
  23. We got it done about 1 year ago. Volcano series should be 2007 model, the design is nice. You can ask your supplier to show you different brands. Quality does matter. the good thing about acrylic is, you can always patch if there is cracks, or grind it if you think it's too much scratch. if you dun get 100% acrylic, it may not be as durable. Good brand will give you spare acrylic stick for patching purpose in the future.
  24. i dunno if the price went up or not, but I got mine LG Volcano series for $90/foot run. My contractor says he gave us at his cost....
