  1. congrats on finally having your fan back! so we finally get a full view of the kitchen counter...nicely done.. any other works left?
  2. Reno Day 46 Went up to the flat last night. It was so dark I had to take photos to see what was around me.Thank god for flash! Our new common room door frame up Sealing up of original common room entrance Kitchen cabinet base up. Hb says very good, very neat. Surprised to find our tiles have already been delivered! Bath floors and ceilings smoothened out after walls were hacked
  3. yes..you'll need to change your window to a fixed panel one. mine already approved liao, going to be up soon...
  4. hey patsy, nope have not......any suggestions?
  5. hahaha yea i know. i would have had the same reaction, 'cept that thankfully i contacted them before they even contacted me. so when they called me, i was like "i already have a quote from your company. but since you're calling me now, does it mean that PN customers got further discounts?" hahaha the guy was like, "er no........". he was trying to get me to visit their showroom.
  6. hey yuene, were u the one who wanted to do cement floors? got a t-blog?
  7. yeah i think truly making a house a home takes years..not just months. cos you add things along the way that speak of your personalities and these are the little details that really make a home. very wise to not want to overspend!! what are your plans for the bathroom?
  8. Just got a call from my PM...she is sick today! but very nice of her, she will still try to get to my office by 12.30pm later to meet me. during our conversation, she picked up several calls from her workers - can hear her talking in the background. they are already at our place and will be sealing up the old common bedroom entrance and putting up the new wall in the kitchen. i can feel her urgency again..hopefully this will last a while.
  9. yes, they're sort of affiliated to propnex. though i didn't know that when i first contacted them..your agent also from PN? ya lor, at the beginning was really whirlwind speed and i felt like i couldn't catch up. but i think maybe cos of the 1 month break for reno permit, they had to reallocate their workers to other projects and now that we're ready again, we have to sort out the pricing for the changes to original contract and maybe wait for their workers to free up again. delays left and right. thats why i said you gonna catch up with me liao!! still say won't......
  10. Finally received price quote for our bathroom plan last night. The amount quoted was much higher than we expected...so sadly, we have to revert to our original plan of using a 1.3m bathtub. Now trying to arrange for a meeting with our PM to sort out the quote. We want to get this finalized by this weekend so they can start work on Monday.. it's already been two weeks since our reno permit was approved........... getting a little impatient......
  11. welcome to RT! ooooh shabby chic sounds exciting & so different..look forward to seeing your transformation. i think its amazing that you'll be keeping the kitchen cabinets and giving it a facelift..how do you intend to do that? my hb + i are very much bathroom people too. we've spent hours planning the bathroom in our place, many more hours than the rest of the house. unfortunately, the limitations of a hdb bathroom just gives you that much space to play around with. lots of ideas cannot be achieved and you keep facing obstacle after obstacle. anyway, good luck with the reno!
  12. hey..what model are u eyeing for that price of $130? my 20WHA kdk fan costs me 118 (before GST). i paid another 185 for the glass panel installation. in total, similar to your quoted price. however, if you wanna save cost and cut the glass yourself, i think there's a thread on here somewhere by Mace..ok here it is: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...hl=glass+cutter. good luck!
  13. okie, look forward to seeing the natural light pics... you custom-made the legs? for how much? looks exactly like the ikea ones..
  14. don't worry, it always feels like that. once all the junk is removed, it'll feel much easier.. any floorplan?
  15. muahaha that sounds familiar! my hb also agar agar. he knows how to "feel" lol..i cannot. oooh i cannot wait to start baking stuff in my oven! hahah merydith you so bad, teach sammy to sell afc to her husband! lol...
  16. good idea to have a separate thread or else umaisarah's t-blog will be spammed! i can't cook but watching afc makes me wish i could...haha...hb says with new house, i shall cook more often. he cooks better than i do! eh zelly, i like to measure! and i love to bake...finally, gonna have my own oven liao..yay!
  17. wah so many afc fans here! i love restaurant makeover..i find igor very cute actually!! he's always so disgruntled...hahah. i also like chef at home, my hb's fave chef on tv..chef michael smith's favorite phrase "and remember, it's all about the flavor!" hahaha i get a kick saying it everytime the show comes on. and not forgetting his much talked about pantry.. and umaisarah - i totally agree that just by watching sugar makes you feel you've just gained 10kg!!
  18. yea i agree, its really very troublesome to do any maintenance in the future if you conceal the aircon trunking. my hb's aunt stays in a condo, had her aircon trunking concealed years ago. now spoil, want to change aircon, need to hack the walls then later need to conceal back..u can imagine how much it costs! not worth it..
  19. i also considered acrylic, but doesn't go with the look of our bath so that option is out. though you'd save cost by not needing to waterproof/tile any further..
  20. oic ok thanks..will also be boxing up the pipes in my bath but will be using calcium silicate board instead. don't think those two are the same. i hate those pipes in the toilet too...
  21. yay thanks for that! also intending to do a mini herb garden in our kitchen next time..seeing i've single-handedly killed every plant that i've bought so far, this website will be a lifesaver. thank you!
  22. you're welcome! ya the older generation typically will not bother with such stuff..its only us who will bother. yes, you can turn it on and off with a switch as and when you need. some people wire it together with a light, so when they turn on that light, the fan also turns on. for us, we'll be wiring it on its own. singapore is a humid place, no escaping the amount of moisture in the air! plus our hdb toilets are not exactly the best ventilated. you're welcome! there are a few models to choose from, depending on your needs. for us, we picked the strongest one in terms of "air-change" volume. other models with smaller air-change volume would be cheaper. er....not much has moved so far. went down last night to have a look, the only thing that has been done is the plumbing to change our squat wc to a sitting one. we are expecting the quote to do our bathtub today, hopefully once that is confirmed, the works will move faster. according to B&E, tiling can only start when the ventilation fan has been installed. so still waiting for that to be done i suppose.. on another note, when we arrived at the flat last night, we noticed our corridor was wet. we thought they washed the living room floor cos the living room floor was also wet! only when we went into the house did we realise the pail they placed in the hall was overflowing with water... the workers didn't turn off the tap completely!! no idea how many hours the tap was left running..
  23. hey, noticed you boxup your pipes in common toilet. did you use concrete or gypsum to box up? you did waterproofing and tiling on top of the box up too right?
  24. yesh i think you'll get more ideas by speaking to them..interesting concept to have just the dining set in the LVR...trying to wrap my head around it..you'll have alot of space left - what you gonna use it for? thirdrockdweller has just posted up pics of his kitchen. he's a got a nice lab/farmhouse sink, can have a look..
  25. welcome back 3rdrock! the house turned out really nicely! love so many things about your kitchen...the sink, the oh-so-american washer & dryer..the dishwasher which is so cute laminated! the dining table came out fair-er than i thought it would though. any plans to stain it? it looks a bit too "white" for the surroundings, if u get what i mean. well, as long as you're happy with it!
